Hairpin Pieces to be nerfed: The 'hairpin loop' will be removed from the game in the next few days. We'll let you know 48 hours in advance.
What's prompting the Mods to change one of the fundamentals of the game?

Doesn't this bother anyone else?

If it stops people doing Sannin runs with 4Million xp, I might have a chance to make Sannin.

'Sides you don't know how it's going to be nerfed.

Most likely, I would say it's the Number One players getting, oh, 7 fucking MILLION ranking xp. <_<

McMasters is not making it unusable, just that you can only do the mission once per day. We won't HAVE to save up thousands upon thousands of ryo and dozens of hairpin pieces just to have a _chance_ at making number one now. At least, that's how it's supposed to work, I think.

Ah, that makes me wonder: is there any place, other than the front page, that details these kinds of things? I.E. an actual press-release page from the Mods? (Not just opinions and predictions; I'm looking for 'straight-from-the-source' material.)

----------------------

EDIT: I dunno about yous guys, but I've been collecting Hairpin Pieces since January just for this. And now it is (probably?) getting eliminated, so I am kinda pissed. <_<

It is, which is why I am now delaying my Sannin run for a week or so, so that I can take advantage of this. Plus, anyone going for their Sannin Run is just going to be cock-blocked by all of the people that were saving up said obscene number of Hairpin Pieces, so you're probably best off saving up your cash and plan while watching all of these players screw each other over. Now that I've thought it out, this change and the party house change are pretty much totally beneficial and awesome. They give you 5-6 stabs at Sannin now with some space in-between rather than a crash-and-burn all-out frenzy. Plus, the Top 3 leaves you with some breathing room and even more of a chance. I gotta thank Dak for suggesting it.

I've also gotta thank Celeste and ccfff for actually making it necessary with their 8 million+ and 7 million+ XP runs.

That doesn't make it any less annoying to those of us that have been preparing for the run for so long. I've been collecting pieces on three accounts since December.

NOT cool, man. Not cool. Not with all the times I could have used that stamina and ryo.

This thread on the Random Village Forums has some info on the change, a lot of speculation, but some actual stuff straight for McMasters. He absolutely clarifies that the nerf is with the playing and replaying of the Hairpin Mission in the same day. He is leaning towards keeping the 1-a-day policy, but may remove that altogether.

There is also related information here (about Sannin) and here (about the Party House).

Hope that helps, and look to the stuff regarding Hinata81 if you are in that sort of situation. If you think you have enough Hairpin Pieces saved up to just bust it all out and get Sannin in the next few days, do it right now and get it. If not, wait it out, and take multiple stabs at it like I'm going to. Good luck either way, Shoe. ;)

@LR: Do the same thing as Shoe then. I'm in the same situation as you two are right now, and have been saving the pieces for just as you have been saving them. If you think that you've collected a ton and have enough to get Sannin soon, do so on your next 7-day bonus before they get nerfed. If not, then wait it out. Either way, these changes don't hurt you, since there's still going to be time before they even give a 48-hour notice. You have time, but it's a bit of a rushed schedule to decide upon your course of action. ^_^

BTW, your sig is now awesome. As was the threadjack that resulted from it. Wait, threadjack?! :ph43r:

I feel for ya, Raine.

I guess people are gonna start focusing like mad on Stamina Bonuses.
Anyone got tips for amassing crazy stamina in a single day? I mean, w/o Hairpin Pieces.

7-day bonus
Valentine's Day item bonus
Sparring bonus
Ultra Potion
Maybe a lucky day at the Prize Wheel?
Stalkergirl .................... or Stalkergirl + Pinky Lv2
Various village bonuses
[Is it possible to net +10 stamina off the Ingredient Hunt?]
Hanging Out Bonus if you have a Glowing Mood Ring

...any others?

The problem I'm having is that I've saved up around twenty one per account, and I'm about to loop on all three of my chars. If you can only do the mission once a day, that means I'm going to end up losing about fifteen pieces per character (around forty five total). It's a terrible waste, really. Not just the ryo, but the stamina as well.

Thanks. :D

Hollow leg to double up on Ultra Potions.

Ramen.

Also, you could theoretically get infinite stamina if you got really, really, really lucky on the Prize Wheel and the Slots. A chain like that would be essentially impossible, though, so it's not really worth mentioning.

It's not possible to have a net stamina gain from ingredient collecting... yet. :ph43r:

The best sparring bonuses are at 250, 500, and other multiples of such, netting you 200 stamina rather than 100.

Like LR said, don't rely on the Prize Wheel, it will bite you in the ass. Spend all money partying and if some is left over due to the insane prices for partying, then you switch to Prize Wheel.

Hanging out with Shorty is +130 stamina (SH and GMR), so if you're aiming for anyone, aim for her. Anon is probably even better to hang with, due to his jutsu, but even harder because of that.

Relying on the stamina boosts of Stalkergirl and Pinky Lv2 is not that good of an idea. If you want to have the best team for a sannin run, it's probably Emo Lv3, Pandabear, and Timmy Lv2. XP FTW.

Also, you forgot Silver Elixers, which without Super Potions, are probably your best potion. They bring in a cool 100k Ranking XP, far better than what you can get with Ultra Potion, and can be made even better with a Hollow Leg, netting you 200k XP for your potion uses. :D

Oh, I didn't realize: every 3.0 wins (including half-wins from ties) gets you 20 stamina.

Whoops, forgot about that one. You'd probably be better off Partying and Wheeling. Though the Arena does bring up the Arena Favorite (+15% Ranking XP), which is incredibly helpful.

Not REALLY, but the Knapsack (12000 gold at the store, not sure if it's an item on the prize wheel, but probably not) essentially lowers the stamina cost for hunting for ingredients to 20, instead of 30.

Yep - I'm saving up to buy one with my alt in Rasta Village. But I know there are (at least) two other bonuses that give you +10 stamina after you Ingredient Hunt.

... So after I buy the Knapsack, my alt in Rasta will be breaking even on stamina when I go tripping.

I have been wondering if there's not yet another stamina bonus possible, that I haven't heard of yet. (And I know nothing about the game.)

RurGo's Hunts are like so (without Nadeshiko's -50 jutusu):

You stuff your Knapsack full! +10 Stamina!
What a relaxing trip! +10 Stamina! (Quiet Glade Village Upgrade)
You stop for a quick rest on the way back! +10 Stamina! (Hiking Rest Stop Kaijuu Upgrade)
