Evangelion Yet another crazy idea from me...

...only this time not so crazy.

The premise is simple: Super Robot Wars.

Or rather:

"What if the Masoukishin from Super Robot Taisen existed in NGE?"

Just imagine. Psybuster, Valcione, Zamzeed, Granveil and Granzon, fighting the Angels along with the Evangelion units.

Of course, it'd require some serious powerup to the Angels, since any Masoukishin could take all 3 EVA's on at once - and win. But hey... so much potential...

Never even heard of what you want to cross NGE with.

However, what did struck me is this...

Would Gendo tolerate any sort of involvement that may potentially put his own scenario at risk?

And if he does not, how long will it take until he tries to destroy and/or subvert these new players to lessen the impact on his evil plots.

And, what'll SEELE think of 'em? Will they try to subvert so they'll have a nice'n handly little ace in the sleeve ( of SEELE. Teh-hehehe. ) for when the time comes to deal with the little upstart Gendo?

Having them as rivals instead of allies would be much more interesting and allow for some serious plotting behind the scenes.

Will having such fearsome rivals make both Gendo and SEELE allow for the eva's to ingest S2 engines to give them a powerup? Will Gendo try to discard the idea of using Touji's death, because both he and his unit are now much more valuable alive'n active then injured/dead'n destroyed?

Mucho potential for amusing developments...

Super Robot Wars is a series of games by Banpresto which round up all the most popular mecha in anime (including the Evangelion ones in later games and even the Nadesico's Aesivalis), in a massive crossover where they take on enemies from each other's universes.

In addition, Banpresto created several original Super Robots to round the cast up. Those are the Masoukishin, powerful mechanical weapons from the underground world of La Gias.

By the way, here's Wikipedia's entry on SRW. Give it a look-over to see what I mean.
Wow, that's quite an impressive list of titles that were included in that game, I can see it now "Final Round! Evangelion Unit-01 VS. RahXephon! Fight!". Heh, because of all the controversy over RahXephon being too Eva-like.

Heh, if I didn't already have a pretty long laundry list of games I'm looking for I'd go and try and find a copy of this, for now though it's just gonna have to wait.

Ahh.. Granzon didn't use Black holes as weapon?

on any case if it is the same it isn't a Masoukishin but something the DC had made... right?

Edit: I am rather sure it was Cybaster

Granzon is powered up by a Black Hole Engine. It was developed by Shuu Shirakawa when he worked for the Divine Crusaders, and drained 90% of their budget, leaving them pretty much broke. But hey, it was worth it.

The Granzon is indeed a powerful machine, being able to fly, engage up to 65,536 targets AT ONCE, and being capable of firing singularities very similar to microblack holes as a weapon (the infamous Black Hole Cluster).

However, the greatest threat isn't the machine itself, but the pilot, Shuu Shirakawa. He's the avatar of Volkruss, the God of Destruction, and when Shuu gets possessed by Volkruss, Granzon evolves into -Neo Granzon-, the Masoukishin of Darkness... easily the most powerful unit in any SRW game ever.

And it can be, depending on translation, Cybaster or Psybuster. *shrug*

Anyway, I've been thinking about writing this fic recently, and I've been considering this plot:

It all starts two years prior to Sachiel's attack at the start of NGE. On a stormy night, Shinji Ikari vanishes from his guardians' home. The search for him turns out to be useless. He's nowhere to be seen.

With his project disrupted, Gendo Ikari is forced to search for another pilot to Unit 01, and after a long search, the Marduk Institute designates Suzuhara Touji, who essentially replaces Shinji as 01's pilot.

Much like in the anime and manga, Touji is called in as Sachiel is tearing up the city. However, unlike Shinji, Touji does not appreciate Gendo trying to outright blackmail him into piloting by using the wounded Rei as leverage.

Before the conflict between the two can escalate, however, a strange mechanical giant appears out of nowhere, and after a harsh battle manages to defeat the Angel. You can imagine the surprise of NERV's personnel, especially Gendo, when it turns out the mystery mech's pilot is none other than Shinji, who is accompanied by a little girl!

The story Shinji tells is unreal: he fell asleep in his room and awoke in another world, called 'La Gias', where he learned that he was 'chosen' by a sentient machine called a 'Masoukishin', specifically the one called Zamzeed (though it might be Granveil or even Cybaster, in which case I'll remove Mio and make suitable changes), the Earth Masoukishin.

The unusual thing is that Zamzeed had already bonded with the girl, Mio Sasuga, yet it called him - most likely because Mio hates fighting, and panicked the first time she accidentally killed someone in battle, thus Zamzeed sought out a replacement . and Shinji was the only viable choice, it seems.

Of course, most NERV employees do not believe this outlandish tale, but then again, Zamzeed is standing right over there, as proof that it isn't all a dream or a plot from a bad sci fi flick.

From that point on, things change from NGE. The ANgels still attack, but due to his experiences in La Gias, where people understood him and actually cared for him, Shinji has an actual spine (although he's still easy to tease and can't stand seeing a woman cry), and he antagonizes Gendo more than once, even outright telling him to 'sod off and die', though he ends up cooperating with NERV anyway to stop the Angels.

Sooo... whaddya think?

On a side note, even though Mio acts like a total brat and looks like a 12 years old, she's 15... older than Shinji. WTF, Japan...
