Harry Potter A Hellish Imprint

It skittered through the branches towards the distant sounds it heard and felt.

While it vaguely resembled the form it had hatched in, it was now something else.

In his haste to flee the castle upon his hosts death, Voldemort had tried to find something, anything, that could sustain him until a more suitable form could be found.

The snake he'd found had the misfortune of not just being his intended target, as midway through the attempt one of the younger acromantulas attacked. Now the spirit of the dark lord was trapped, trying to keep the reins of a monster that was becoming more and more unstable as time passed as the blood of multiple magical creatures it attacked in its rage mixed with its own magics and that of the spirit.

Had he been fully aware, he who was once Tom Riddle would be screaming for his cage to flee as it charged towards something that had entered the range of its senses.

i'd really like to see some of the outside worlds reaction to harry, specifically the vampire community or communities, depending on the number of various species that you happen to allow into your world.

afterall, each year harry has quite a bit of time off to cause untold havoc, chaos, callamity, destruction etc....... something that could be quite interestin to read.
...while I too hope for something more along the lines of this, I doubt we will get anything like that due a combination of long waits between updates, and very short content posts. Sotf seems to enjoy focusing more on describing the scenery in the scenes, than on describing the content of what is actually going on.

That said, the last little scene did give me a small chuckle.

The last few parts are still in year 1. The main reason for having more is because after setting a torch to the plot of the first book, I still have half of the school year to play with and having Harrycard in Hogwarts is not something that lends itself to a situation where nothing major would happen.

Not to mention dealing with some of the fallout for Quirrels death and a few other things.

Harry moved as something with far to many eyes and limbs moved from the shadows.

"So that's where you've been hiding," the man in red roared with lips spreading into a cheshire grin, "Now, where were we?"

The Acromantula he'd spoken to earlier fled as two greater monsters faced each other amidst the ancient woods.

It attacked, charging the foe before it without a moment to parley, something that seemed to cause the grin to widen even more.

Mad laughter echoed as the beast slammed into him and hit naught but shadow as the trickle of light seemed to fade to a blackness that could never come about naturally on the surface of the planet.

It glanced wildly around, twitching in confusion and anger, trying to find where its target vanished to.

And then it froze in place as the forest was suddenly filled with crimson eyes mocking it from all directions while the laugh simply grew louder.

Boredom was more of an issue to him than other concerns.

Harry had come to realize that Hogwarts was almost to quiet for his tastes this year.

But the pompous fool who bounced around claiming to teach this year had managed to strike a nerve, and given him a moments contemplation of how to avenge the insult hiring the man had dealt the students as a whole, and himself in particular.

Glancing at the cage of fey creatures, his fanged grin widened as he pricked a finger and let but a drop of crimson land in their water before continuing on his way.

Poppy Pomfrey heard the scream for her attention and dashed through the infirmary towards the arriving professors.

Gilderoy was deathly pale, with bite marks covering nearly every inch of exposed skin.

"What happened?"

Filius Flitwick, who had been the first to respond to the new professors distress, was the one to answer.

"Pixies," he managed to mutter, "Never seen anything like it, acted like they were piranha or worse, and the damn fool let them loose."

He moved even as his foe charged, a tree ripped to splinters as the multilimbed abomination ripped through the ancient oak as if it weren't even there.

But Harry was airborn, leaping upwards and over the beast.

His pistol bucked as he fired, the weapon still jerking his hand due to sheer recoil of the magically enhanced weapon.

With some luck, his aim was true enough, slamming into the armored exoskeleton of It But not piercing the arachnid's armor, instead sending cracks in a twisted mockery of a spiderweb out from the impact even as the thing stumbled from the impact itself.

It roared while turning to the crimson eyed and clad form that had shot at it, only for the boy-thing to fire again.

Harry hit slightly more than he missed as the spider beast pressed its attack.

And then with a smile and bared fangs, he knew how to end the fight, and struck out with a fist.

The rune engraved fist ruptured the cracked plating as It reared over him, and then froze and the ichor flowed onto him and, somehow, he instinctively drew it into himself, devouring the spider creature even as it realized that it had been the prey in their duel.

It screamed for a short moment, and then there was absolute silence in the forest, as if nature itself was taking a breath.

And then a sound erupted, loud and clear across the forbidden forest, echoing even through the village of Hogsmead, and sending nightmares into the minds of the children nestled all snug in their beds in the school as well.

Huh. Wasn't expecting this, but I'm happy about it.
