Nasuverse All Casters

The Fifth Holy Grail War is already very messed up, but this version is even more so: all of the Servants are of the same class - Caster - except of course for Gilgamesh, who's left over from the Fourth. (This is why the subtitle says 'not to be taken seriously'.)

Any being that qualifies for the Caster class may be summoned, and if they try to summon a second Servant, they'll most likely botch it a little, as Medea did in canon. Of course, if Caster was a Master in a Holy Grail War in life, he or she might not botch it, or not as badly.

I wonder how Shirou would react to getting Counter-Guardian MATOU (Sakura), for example, or how EMIYA would react to being summoned as a Caster, instead of an Archer (if he qualifies, which he might not).

I think it would be better if the had the canon servants all summoned as casters.

It doesn't matter if the fit the bill. This idea doesn't follow the rules anyways.

You don't see many famous wizards in history, and I can't remember a legend that went into the exploits of one. Generally they focus on men waving swords, and exemplify strength and honor over cunning or intelligence.

From Arthurian (which uses a lot of older ones)
1. Merlin (not sure what his wish would be)
2. Morgan (revenge on Arturia)
3. Morgause (revenge for the death of Mordred?)

Greek
1. Orpheus for his ability to calm beasts and seas with music (reviving his dead wife)

Egyptian
1. Siosire -aka Sa-Paneshe- (desire to protect Egypt or possibly destroy modern Egypt and resurrect Egypt from time of Ramses II)*

Gaelic
1. Taliesin (not sure about his motivation)
2. Mog Ruith (push back Christianity)

Can anyone think of any Asian figures? I always thought that it was odd that Fate had so many Western heroes but only one (two but Emiya's from the future) from Japan.

*Can't be found on Wikipedia, read a book on it.

Abe-no-Seimei, for one - famous Onmyouji, said to be the hanyou son of a kyuubi kitsune. He is credited as the founder of onmyoudou.

The Tale of Jiraiya the Gallant also originally portrayed Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru as magic-users, rather than the ninja they are currently envisioned as (note that this did not originate with Naruto).

In China, there were a wealth of legendary magic-users, especially Taoist masters. Zuo Ci is a notable example, as was Zhang Jiao (founder of the Way of Peace, whose uprising heralded the end of the Han Dynasty). And those are just from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Can't believe you forgot Zhuge Liang, tora. Remember his little sword dance mojo to win the battle at Chi Bi? (and NO, it doesn't mean 'little kid', it means 'crimson cliff'. perverts. <_< )

Though Shirou getting Counter Guardian Sakura...would be entertaining.

Especially if this Sakura's past was Heaven's Feel...oh my, oh my. Well, she CERTAINLY wouldn't need to worry about lack of mana.

Well... Technically, Zhuge Liang is just a really good strategist rather than a mystic. The whole thing about calling the southeastern wind was simply him predicting that it would come due to his knowledge of weather, and then setting up a little show to trick his Wu counterpart, Zhou Yu. However, there are some myths that he possessed mystical powers, so he should still work well enough as a castor.

If you want Chinese mystics, there's also Zhang SanFeng, the semi-mystical taoist master of Wu Dan mountain. Of couse most myths described him as more of a master martial artist than a mystic, but some bits are there. GongSun Sheng of Water Margin is a mystic, but he's more of a fictional character than a mythical hero.

What about the Buddhist who traveled with Son Goku?

And technically, King Arthur was a guy, mecha. That's not much of a point you're making :p

And Sun Goku...oh man, what a Lancer...but uhh, whatsername, White Bone Spirit or something like that, the one that transformed into 3 different people, she'd make a good Caster.

Xuanzang, or Genjou in Japanese pronunciation. He might qualify. Probably has partial divinity.

Sun Wukong is out, though; he would qualify for Lancer, Berserker, and possibly Caster, except that he wasn't human in any way. Started off as a giant monkey, then attained divinity.

Merlin's wish would be obvious. He's stuck in a tree in the Throne of Heroes. He wants out of that tree.

Ouch, and I used to be an amateur expert on Arthurian legends. Although he might exchange that for a meeting with Nimue (revenge, love, something else). And now that I think of it, Nimue is another good candidate.

So, how would Counter-Guardian MATOU react to this bizarre variant of the Fifth Holy Grail War, do you think?

Also, what are the qualifications for being a Caster? Would Counter-Guardian EMIYA qualify, for example?

Probably. His MGI is certainly high enough. I don't think you need anything special to qualify.

He was a magus before becoming a servant.

Plus he has a Reality Marble that lets him beamspam (seems to be a favorite attack of Casters).

Hell, I think 'Reality Marble' pretty much covers it :p

It would be incredibly amusing to see Master Rin's reaction to that.

For 'amusing', read 'hilarious'.

So, should Rin get Caster!EMIYA, or should he go to someone else, like Illya or Sakura? Speaking of Illya, is there any plausibility in the thought of future-Illya becoming a Counter-Guardian?

If Rin doesn't get EMIYA, should she get Caster!Kaleido-Ruby?

Rin gets EMIYA, Shirou gets Kaleido-Ruby. Cue hilarity at meeting in front of Shirou's house.
