... for all the rest of this discussion the one thing that confuses me is why the hell is Naruto carrying Sasuke? I mean really Tsunade is the medic who is stronger than him. Her freakish strength perhaps no match at the moment for Gamabuta's sword, but should easily accommodate one person, much less one child.

You have it the other way around, Naruto's stronger at this point. And Sasuke knows him better. The entire story so far has been Sasuke and Naruto to the exclusion of Tsunade.

Ryuugi stated it, Tsunade's just a six year old genin right now. Highly competent, sure, that she's able to match a 12-year old opponent, but equipped only with Academy basics, enhanced chakra control, and what little else gained as a genin. She's hardly had the time or inclination to train her medic or strength-enhancement chakra skills.

The databook gives Tsunade a 5 strength, even without enchancements or at least that's my assumption since it gives post time skip sakura a 3.5. And Sakura with the enchancement easily beats out those listed as 4s.

Of course we could just argue about how you can't lift a freaking huge object with an impact enhancer, but since she's six i'm just saying she's probably still a good deal stronger than her teammates if even a fraction of it was natural.

On a side note, if we look at the more modern genin almost all of them have the traits that define them while they were genin, and these three are going for thier Chuunin exams, I think that gives her enough time to at least get started on her defining characteristics.

Aha. Databook.

Can already tell you don't see how it works, given that you're trying to compare her to other people.

This is the same databook that listed Sasuke and Chiyo as having the same level of strength. Having ratings that only go up to five is troublesome even if someone is less than a five.

All ThatÆs Old Is New Again

This reminds me of Saint Seiya here while the fanfiction.com.br forum still existed, I think (it has been some years, so I may be wrong of where it was). Canonically all gold saints are relativelly the same power level (with the possible exception of Dohku, but that's because he lived three centuries more), but that's not what the databooks said.

All ThatÆs Old Is New Again

the Saint Seiya databook did talk only about their abilities in various fields, but their power-level is given by their Cosmo, and nothing was said about that(except Shaka's having the greatest)

All ThatÆs Old Is New Again

It involved the fact that even though they are supposed to be balanced enough a gold saint would stay in a stalemate for a thousand days with another the stats for that ex-Aries whose name I forgot had so much higher stats than almost everyone else.

The Databook said that? I know one of the databooks said Rhadamanthys had the fist to even beat a gold saint. (Bad luck he fought Kanon I guess) I was pretty sure that Libra Dohko was the only one who said that line about a 1000 days and nights and he was talking about Shion specifically.

Pope Aries Shion stalemating Libra makes sense. They're old friends who canonically got promoted from Bronze Saint level to Gold level together and fought together for over 243 years. Any other fight between golds have repeatedly been much shorter.

On topic, I'm super glad this updated. This is still the only Naruto fic I look forward to.

Anowack's works are good, though 'One Hundred Weeks' won't make a lick of sense if you don't read 'One Hundred Days' first. There are a few others interesting ones around, though most haven't updated in quite a while. Still, this is a solid story.

Deathmask vs Shaka is the only impossible Gold vs Gold One Hundred Wars

All ThatÆs Old Is New Again

Not really, it was first mentioned when Aioria was facing Milo because he let Seiya live when the Sagitarius cloth protected him at the hospital. It was mentioned then, but Saga used that brainwashing technique of his on Aioria and so it never happened.

All ThatÆs Old Is New Again

All the Gold Saints have roughly the same amount of Cosmo, and in Saint Seiya Cosmo>all(included ability and experience)

Therefore all the Gold Saints in-fights were likely to end in an One Hundred Wars.

From the Encyclopaedia we learn DM vs Shaka is the only impossible one.

Given the manga, we also know Shaka is simply going to own anybody when he uses his sealed chakra. Except Hakurei and Sage from The Lost Canvas anime. Hakurei one-shot Minos with ONE PUNCH back when he was young in the 1500 Holy War(and using his Silver Cloth)

The LC anime added that? Ugh I'm just glad ND made LC not canon. For over a hundred chapters in LC Rhadamanthys was the most sympathetic/awesome character there. Shion and Dohko were just awful in LC. Alone is a complete monster and Tenma was retarded.

All ThatÆs Old Is New Again

Sorry man, but LC is still canon ALONG Next Dimension.
No, I have no idea how that work, but they are BOTH canon, with LC being the canonical prequel and ND the canonical sequel. And yes, it's official. As I said, no idea how that work(except ND being set in the past of a different dimension, which would explain a lot of things)

That said, I don't get the problem over Hakurei one-shotting Minos. Cosmo is infinite, so there can be somebody stronger than a Underworld Leader, or even Shaka.

Also, Pandora is the best and most sympathetic character of LC, IMHO. She basically did draw the shortest straw everytime at everything ever.
I agree on Alone and Tenma, but Dohko and Shion manage to be even WORSE in ND. And while Dohko had a few empowering feats(the trident inside the Ryuhisho, surviving Athena's blood), Shion managed to be even more useless than Milo. And ND Shion is even worse(a totally useless weak idiot)

On a side note, the LC anime is actually better than the manga most often than not: they did work with the author to remove some of the problems of the manga(like the whole barrier and people randomly appearing\disappearing debacle in the Hypnos arc) and adding some flashback\backstory(El Cid makes much more sense, his pupils get constellations and a combinated attack and Sage and Manigoldo manage to be even more awesome. Also, 1500 Athena was hot and stacked)

mmm... I feel like we are somehow out of topic...

Dude Lc isn't canon. ND is the prequel and the sequel to SS written by Kurumada and has different previous century gold saints making LC not canon by default. The scanlators of LC and ND at SaintSeiyafan stressed LC isn't canon to Seiyaverse just a spinoff by a fan like Episode G.

ND Shion gets a break. He was a bronze just the other day and his first fight after being promoted is a former Silver and now Hell Judge. LC Shion has been fighting for years. I loved classic Pandora and loathe LC's version.

Seriously Shounen Champion is screwing Kurumada badly just to get every penny out of SS.
I miss Ikki, Shun and Seiya and they pushed back the newest chapter of ND again. Though LOL at the fact ND's first volume outsold any volume of LC.

Edit: We really should stop spamming this topic with SS discussion though.

All ThatÆs Old Is New Again

uh, no.
NOWHERE at all anything is said about LC not being canon, while it HAS been declared officially being canon. Same with Episode G, nowhere at all is ever said it's not canon.

so, yeah. Currently, all the Saint Seiya manga are canon, even when they contradict each other.
I mean, the Hyoga's gaiden story is canon, and it makes not sense at all in the continuity!
Edit: We really should stop spamming this topic with SS discussion though.
yeah... there isn't a Saint Seiya topic in the anime\manga section?

He didnt manage to get far before Tsunades struggling nearly made him drop her.

Even though he knew she was upset, for a moment Naruto wanted to scold hershe had every right to yell at him and Sasuke and probably deserved to punch each of them at least once, but she should at least wait to do so until hed gotten her to safety, rather that endanger the mission.

And then he swallowed the words.

He wasnt carrying Sakura. He wasnt carrying Hinata or Ino or Tenten.

He was carrying Tsunade. Not the one he knew so well, but one he barely knew at all. She was young and scared and not even really a true ninja, yetshe was a girl who had just been abandoned by the two people she was supposed to be able to rely on.

He couldntand shouldntexpect her to act like one of friends in the future. He couldnt expect her to act like a ninja more than twice her age that was a rank or two high than her with a hundred times the missions.

If he wanted to ever make things right, he had to treat Tsunade as her own personnot as a teammate that didnt exist anymore or as a faceless member of the team.

More than that, this wasnt even a real mission. This was something theyd dragged Tsunade into for the sake of their own improvement and forced her to keep up despite not having years of training like they did.

And in the end, this mission wasnt even important, was it? They didnt want to be Genin anymore, but truthfully, none of the things they were really trying to prevent would happen for decades. Having a head start wouldnt hurtit never didbut when they had this much time, there was no excuse for endangering a teammate by hurrying.

If his younger, future self had seen how hed screwed up today, he would have punched him in the face.

So he stopped. He set Tsunade down on her feet on top of a building and took two steps back. She whirled towards him immediately, fire in her eyes.

You left me! She shrieked. You bastard; you left me behind! I thought me were supposed to be a team!?

Her voice would draw more people, but at this point, Naruto didnt care. If they came, theyd have to deal with them; it was as simple as that.

Your right, He said. I did. I screwed up and I have no excuse, but Im sorry.

Why? Why are you two always doing this? Tsunade demanded, continuing when Narutos brow furrowed. Dont act like you dont know what I mean! Every day, you and Orochimaru vanish off together and every time, you come back stronger. If youre training, why not bring me? Is it because Im a girl? Is it because you think Im weak!?

Hints of tears were gathering in her eyes.

No, Naruto said. Itsits not that. I cant really explain, but Orochimaru and I decided we had to get stronger and we didnt think of anyone else. Were assholes and it was wrong for us to exclude you. It wont happen again, I promise. But Tsunadewere in danger if we stay hereand Orochimarus in danger if we leave him alone. We have to get back to him, now.

But his words just made Tsunade angrier.

Who cares!? This is just a stupid Examwe can take it as many times as we want!

Naruto nodded.

Do you want us to drop out, then? We can do it, if you want. All we have to do is get back to Orochimaru and make him do pushups or something. If thats want you want, lets gobecause youre right. We can take this Exam as many times as me want; it doesnt matter if we win or lose. If you want to, will drop outso do you want to?

No. She said, not sounding any less angry, but seeming resolved.

Naruto had figured as much. Hed meant what hed said, but even while she was upset with them, Tsunade had come here to take the test just like they had. Maybe she didnt want to lose. Maybe she didnt want to disappoint her family or sensei. Maybe she had a goal or dream like they did.

Naruto was kind of ashamed that he didnt know which was true, but he knew Tsunade, if only in the future, and she wouldnt back down from something like this.

He pointed at the house hed hidden Sasuke in, which was just barely in sight.

Go get Orochimaru and win this. Ill stay here. He said.

What? Tsunade blinked. Why?

Our little talk probably drew some unwanted attention. Someone has to keep away anyone who shows upand youve been left behind too many times.

When Tsunade rushed in, Sasuke was surprised to see that she was alone.

Wheres Jiraiya? He asked.

Tsunade hesitated in replying and Sasukes experience in determining people emotions allowed him to tell that she was uncertain how to feel.

He stayed behind to keep the others off our back. She said after the moment passed.

Sasuke nodded in understanding. It wasnt an uncommon tacticone person staying behind to protect his fellows. It wouldnt be the first time Naruto had done it.

Hell, hed done it more than once.

Then hell meet us at the finish line. Sasuke said. He wasnt worried in the slightestan Exam like this, where all the participants are limited to ninja of Konoha, was unlikely to be dangerous. While in the future, casualties between villages was to be expected, in this time period, a ninja killing people from his own villageor even hurting them badlywas likely to be heavily frowned up.

And, well, he could admit to himself that he had faith in Naruto.

So he wouldnt waste time being concerned for his friend, especially since there wasnt really anything he could do about it anyway.

Instead, he had his own concerns.

Can you carry me? He asked, a bit dubiously. He knew that in the future, Tsunade had monstrous strength, but wasnt sure if that stemmed as far back as this.

But Tsunade gave him a quick frown, before picking him as Naruto had done before, dismissing his worries. Without needing to be pressed, she quickly took off, heading for their destination. As he had done before, whilst it was Naruto carrying him, he acted as a lookout, but Tsunade seemed to know where to go, so he largely remained silent, as did Tsunade.

Stilleven Sasuke could tell when he needed to say something.

He debated with himself over what to say, however. He wasnt really good with apologies. Hell, he could be honest; he wasnt good at admitting he was wrong, either. But he could acknowledge that hed screwed up with Tsunade.

It wasnt Jiraiyas fault, you know. He said.

Tsunade seemed startled at his words. For a moment, she nearly stopped running, but she shook her head, apparently realizing that was the wrong thing to do, and kept moving.

What wasnt? She asked, but he could tell by her tone that she knew what he was talking about.

Leaving you behind. It was his job to carry me, but I was supposed to be the look out. I was so focused on watching for enemies and making sure we were going the right way that I made a mistake and ignored you. Im sorry. He said.

Tsunade was silent.

What about all those times you went of training together? She asked. The without me went unsaid, by Sasuke understood nonetheless.

Youve probably noticed Imantisocial at the best of times. Sasuke replied. Leaving you behind is my fault too. Im not good at working as part of a team.

Except with Jiraiya. Tsunade said. You dont seem to mind working with him, even though you too are so different from each other. How did you to even become friends? I didnt think you got along at the Academy.

This was one part of Orochimarus childhood that Sasuke felt he could grasp. If Jiraiya had been anything like Naruto in the Academy, then

We didnt. He said. He already knew the similarities that existed between him and Orochimaru. ButI guess he grew on me. Like some kind of fungus. Hell do that to you too, eventually. Once he considers you a friend, theres really no way around it.

Hmph.

Jiraiya is a high chakra ninja ... he's a juggernaut. I think we never saw him suffer from chakra exhaustion. He had trouble in his fights because he lacked info, chakra control (drug) and because he's a perv. But that's it. He has a shitload of chakra because obviously, only someone with a shitload of chakra can do the senjutsu training, otherwise the Nature overcomes you. I'm pretty sure the number of people that could do the senjutsu training on terms of chakra are fairly rare.
I guess there's Jiraiya, Naruto (because of the kyuubi), maybe Kisame ...
All others Ninja went the opposite way to train, focused on their control rather than their overall chakra; like Kakashi, high chakra control, but small chakra.
Ranking the chakra pools, I would rank Orochimaru on a scale of the Sandaime ... Tsunade on the scale of Kakashi but with an absurd control.
I guess there's genetic, and then the training they are shooting for. Considering that Orochimaru, Jiraiya and Tsunade had the same teach, I suppose genetically Jiraiya was a juggernaut, Orochimaru a mix, and Tsunade a control freak. It fits them.
Great fic, keep on =)

Cool! I thought this had died, nice to see it stick it's head up again. It will be interesting to see who Naruto and Sasuke deal with Tsunade - they really do have secrets that set them apart that they don't want to share with her, after all.

Naruto (because of the kyuubi)
This idea is old news, Naruto has high chakra because of his Uzumaki blood, not because of the Kyuubi. Even if it hadn't been confirmed he made over a hundred KB in the first chapter/episode, much longer before he was able to channel the Kyuubi's chakra (that is, after fighting Haku in Wave).
