Anime Facelifts

I was looking through my anime collection today, and I realized that some of the titles are old. And when I say old, I'm talking about the days when U.S. Manga, Pioneer, and Manga Entertainment were the top names in anime distributors. In other words, I'm talking about anime that's been around for over a decade or more...

So anyway, I was looking at some of my titles and I got to thinking what it would be like if some of them were redone and which ones would benefit from a modern-day 'facelifts' and I was wondering what the rest of my fellow TFFers would chose.

- Dirty Pair: The original Dirty Pair was released over 20 years ago and the remake almost 15 years ago...it's way past time to have the <s>Dirty Pair</s> Lovely Angels to get a another chance to get the bad guy...and to cause more damage than a natural disaster.

- 3x3 Eyes: Hell, not only do I want to see this one remade; I also would love to see this anime make an effort to catch up with the manga.

- Iria-Zeiram the Animation: To be honest, this the first anime DVD that I bought. And while I enjoy watching it; it is only 6 episodes long and would love to see the story expanded.

So...what's your choice?

I happened to quite like 'Dirty Pair Flash'... Still have my copy. sad so little fan fiction exists for it.

Modern remakes... hmmm... some have already had them. Like 'Cat Girl Nuku Nuku' had the later OAV Dash series. For others, they have aged better than many, like El Hazard', 'You're Under Arrest', and 'Neon Geneis', and do not really need remakes, even though two are currently getting them.

- Bubblegum Crisis - I've been hearing about 2041 for years, and have never seen it.

- Irresponsible Captain Tylor - I would almost prefer a continuation, abut a remake would be nice.

- Macross 7, with a full US release.

- Project A-ko

- Space Battleship Yamato (Star Blazers to most)... 5 movie endings, and a TV series end, and it *still* could not have a proper ending.

- Orguss

That's it

Why? because if any of the anime I like now are remade, they won't use cel animation.

And fuck any haters, I LOVED cel animation.

If they did it in cel animation though, most definetly Dirty Pair Flash, Photon and Saber Marionette R.

Space Vampires FTW.

Let's see... how about a new NGE? Oh wait, that's already going forward. B)

Ah... I'd love a new Record of Lodoss War, as long as it doesn't go into Crystania territory. New characters, same setting, maybe bring Louie into it for kicks and giggles. (Rune Soldier Louie, if you aren't aware, is set in the same world as Record of Lodoss War).

I'm going to drop to my knees and plead for an Outlaw Star remake.

EDIT: HOLY FUCKING SHIT, THERE WAS A STASHIP TROOPERS ANIME?!?

I'd like some of that please.

Also: third season of Big O.

Go-Lion - Most of you know this as "Voltron." I'm talking more about the space based series, rather than the lesser known land based series. We were never given a proper ending, and the localization kind of screwed things up in an attempt to be kid friendly.

Sailor Moon - I'd like to see an animated series that's more faithful to the manga.

Ranma 1/2 - I'm asking for more of a continuation that a re-make, as there are plenty of worthy story arcs from the manga that were never animated.

Utena - The anime equivalent of an acid trip; this series is so much fun. With a better budget, they could redo it without having to reuse so much stock footage.

Ditch the ending though.

Rurouni Kenshin. Get one studio to do it instead of outsourcing, so that the characters don't look shit every second episode, ditch the filler arcs, and for fuck's sake animate the Jinchuu arc.

And burn the second OVA. KILL IT WITH FIRE! :flameon:

I agree with the man.

Also Gundam Wing and Trigun. Or at least continue it with Trigun Maximum...

I'll add BlackJack and the old Gundam series. Also add Elhazard into that list.

Dominion Tank Police, because Shirow's old work definitely deserves a face-lift. Also the usage of tanks and incredibly detailed and attractive female leads makes it just that much more awesome.

And Black Magic M66. Incredible amounts of win with this one.

It was given a remake a few years later... 'Dominion Tank Police' is the original, and has a slightly different backdrop than the remake, which was called 'New Dominion Tank Police'.

Silent MoÙbius would be nice...I like the story but the animation and drawing could use some work...

Odd... I thought the animation great in that. I disliked the plot.

I would like to see Galaxy Express 999, Cyborg 009, and Kikaider get a face lift.

Actually, the animation style stays truthful to the mangaka; Kia Asamiya.

Screw 2041. I want a 2032 remake, using the original scripts where Largo kills Priss, and hopefully expanded beyond.

Shrugs...

The Parasite Dolls OAV side stories to BubbleGum Crisis/Crash are not well known, and were IMHO pretty well done.

Berserk (not a redo, another series picking up where it left off).

And Bastard!! Redoing for the bits that got skipped and covering at least up to the timeskip.

Bible Black.

That is all.
Wait... Bible Black why? The animation quality is impressively high and the plot is very solid too, so why?
I know it is. But I'd just like to see it updated it. Part two was sort of lacking to me.

Part two started out awesome when it opened with a huge serving of MASS RAEP, but then it just sorta went... meh.

Also, Minase got a bridge dropped on him, pretty much. Not a single mention of the bastard, even though he was the main character in Part 1. That irked me.

Fist of the North Star

Pretty much anything done by Leiji Matsumoto. (Galaxy Express, Star Blazers, Captain Harlock/Queen Emeraldas...)
