Avantiar: Isle of the Black Mists

[SotF]

You awake to the smell of salt and the soft lapping of waves.

It is a far cry from the last things you remember, the chaos of the ship and the ozone of nearby lightning. A massive storm brewing around your vessel as it careened throught he seas.

The harsh sound of shattering wood beneath had been your last warning before a large shape, almost like a demonic sea-turtle, had arched through the ship to raise its head in a roar from the deck.

Its movement had broken the ship apart in a way disturbingly like a wet dog shaking itself dry.

You remember the cold water and images of destruction visible int he flashes of lightning.

And then there was nothing as the waves rose against you.

Now it is calm, the song of tropical birds in the distance and the bright white sand of the beach are enough with sparkling clear water that extends.

Against the hroizon, there is a small island with three massive spires of stone that look disturbingly like humanoid skulls faceing towards the small island between them.

Deeper inland from the beach lies a dense jungle full of greens and brightly colored flowers.

You see pieces of wreckage strewn across the beach, luckily including your things, as well as others coming to at the same time you are.

The few clouds in the sky are not promising rain, but you wonder just where you are.

hmm. . . I'll have Jesse look+call for Patches and Socks. do i see them?

edit: I'll also help the others if they need it and i can.

 

[Xerxezz]

I tiredly dust of my clothes with a muttered curse and the vainly attempts to wring out all of the water from my clothes. I take a look around for my horses and other gear.

 

[TerraBull]

I slowly get up, rubbing the back of my head and doing a few stretches to get the blood circulating, and to tell if there was anything wrong with any parts of my body, then a discrete check to see if my Weapons and Equipment were near to hand.

After making sure I was in acceptable shape and gaining my items, I looked around to see how many had made it here besides myself, In the distance, I see the Island with the three spires and note that as a point of intrest, to decide to visit there or not will have to be discussed, also to sift through all the wreckage and finding any salvageable items.

After looking at the others, I clear my throat to gain their attention and ask the needed question. "Does any one of you have the least Idea where we are?"

 

[shout27]

"Not in the least, if we want to look for other survivors it'll be easier if i can find Patches, I do recommend everyone checks their stuff, clean it, dry it off, etc. the last thing we need is for our weapons to rust."

edit: I take a second to do just that.

 

[Xerxezz]

I turn around when he hear the question and I take in the sight of another survivor.

"No idea." I mutter to the robed female.

I glance across the rest of the beach and the other survivors.

"Let's help the others, and salvage what we can."

*takes some time to check and dry off my gear*

 

[shout27]

"PATCHES, SOCKS, COME!"

I look to see if anyone is hurt, afterwards, i retreive my Bow + Gear. edit: while inspecting it for damage.

edit 2: I'm also going to take a quick look at my surroundings.

 

[Xerxezz]

I raise an eyebrow as a dog and horse comes running from one section of the beach.

"Little Daisy! Old Stinky!" I shout and it doesn't take long before my two horses appear as well.

Both animals look fine.

I remove a belt with attached scabbards from one of the animals and then fastens the belt around my waist. I then remove my crossbow from the other and load it.

"So what do we do now?" I ask the man with the dog while slinging the crossbow across my back.

 

[shout27]

I pet both animals and look through Socks saddlebags, thankfully not even the Ink Vial is damaged. wringing the water out of all the cloth items i set them back, and moved to clean everything else.

After that is done i look to Patches "Seek" I say and follow him on Socks as he rushes off along the beach, i call to the others to finish going through the wreckege and that i'll be back within the hour, i also take my bowstring and try to hasten the drying process.

edit: I stop think about what i'm doing and head back to the others, calling "Come!" to patches, I want their input before rushing off.

 

[Xerxezz]

I shrug my shoulders as the man runs down the beach after his dog and then continue to search through the wreckage.

When the man returns a few minutes later I stop what I'm doing and raise me crossbow and prepare for combat. I look behind the man but can't spot anyone following him.

"Ran into trouble?" I ask while catiously lowering my weapon.

"We have two options at the moment: we can go looking for survivors, or we can finsh searching through the wreckage and personally i want us to all stay together so no rushing off like i was about to do."

I nod my head.

"Sounds like a plan, safety in numbers and all that." It was the only semblence to a plan I've heard so far, and it was better then nothing.

I follow a few steps behind the man.

"So, whats your names?" I felt like it would be a good idea to at least know the names of my newfound comrades.

" :sweat2: Sorry, I've forgotten my manners name's Jesse. What're yours?"

 

[Xerxezz]

"Name 's Morgan." I answer with a soft chuckle.

 

[shout27]

I watch as Patches returns with a piece of wood in his mouth. I take it, show him a metal item, and say Fetch again. "I'd prefer to sift through the wreckage we might find some thing important, not to mention it'd probably be a good idea to keep the wood from floating away in case we need it." "And your opinion Miss?"

 

[TerraBull]

"I would suggest someone find a high vantage point so they could possibly see farther?"

I also finish making sure what Items I have are not soaked or would rust or warp, before a previous question catches my thought.

"Before I forget, please excuse my manners, I am called Jee by those that know of me."

I take a closer look at my surroundings, while I'm at it i'll take a closer look at what Patches is up to. . .


edit: would make Search checks, Spot checks, and give me a description of our environment please, SotF?

I take a look around the area as well. Hopefully we can find some other survivors.

(How do we do checks, attacks, saves etc? Do you roll for us?)

Cursing loudly i throw off the part of the deck that ended up ontop of me as i swear loudly as i kick myself up to my feet and take a look around.

I guess I check my gear and make sure that it's all in place and properly equipped, then I mount my Skeleton Hydra. If I see the others, I say hi.

 

[Xerxezz]

I tap Jesse and Jee on their respective shoulders and then shakily raise my crossbow.

"Oh crap, oh crap!. BIG UNDEAD DRAGON-THINGY!"

(Me? i doubt it, i'm guessing that SotF is going to leave us hanging until evryone else posts their char. intro, remember that he never specified how many people we saw in the opening so until he logs back on chances are we should all make posts commenting us searching around, as it is we can make limited progress like you seeing my pets come running. )

"Interesting, I'd say Friend or Foe but you just said "Hi", so i'll assume you're both a Smartass and a Friend . and your name, Sir?"

Shaking my head to clear away any lingering fogginess as i check what i have on me.

"Blast it! Me pack is missin', least me bow is still here..."

Turning i try and find my pack and the rest of my gear.
