Eh, so it would seem.

I don't care either way because I am in the ideal healthy range for BMI. I had to workout and exercise for it too because I was naturally born with a super high metabolism. I lose more weight sitting on my ass and eating while watching football than I do hitting the gym. In fact, hitting the gym is one of my only ways to gain weight.

Edit:Removed Pic

Is that obese?

Edit:Just went and checked to see if we still had scale, was told no. Asked and they guessed I was around 185-200.

AFAIK obesity is a poorly defined term. It means that you have enough excess body fat so as to run risk of adverse medical effects.

<a href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classification_of_obesity' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classification_of_obesity</a>

Body fat percentage (fat percentage > 25%) and waist-hip ratio (waist-to-hip >0.9; note that waist should be measured in a particular way, which is not actually at the widest point) are much better measurements for obesity.

This talk is reminding me of Chrono Cross... specifically, The Dark Id's screenshot let's play of chrono cross.
Seriously, Leena and Kid are the same height, both bellow the healthy BMI, Kid is slightly heavier, yet Kid is classified as slender and Leena as Average.
Macha is still not even overwheight according to BMI, yet looks like Choji. TDI says someone must have filled her with an air pump (her swimming to an island miles away if you don't add her to your team may confirm it).
Seriously, does it happen in EVERY japanese thing they decide to let people know of heights and weights?

Well let's check some western graphic novels for character BMIs, how about Marvel Comics? Let's see, Psylocke - 21.6, still far too low for someone as athletic as her but at least she's not made of air like Anko or Macha. She-Hulk - 20.1 in human form, 73.2 (!) in hulk form, definitely very reasonable. Jean Grey - 18.6, quite healthy for a telepath.

So yeah I guess it is just Japanese comics and games that's obsessed with unhealthily scrawny women.

Thanks guys, you now got me interested in my own BMI and then concequencely body fat percentage.

Weirdly I'm considered normal for the former and "fitness" for the latter? I honestly don't understand my lazy self sometimes.

Oh, and numbers and calculations?

In manga?

Yeah, fuck em.

Pretty much useless.

Apart from maybe, maybe height or, genre depending, BWH.

Slightly more on topic, I'm trying to work out if Obito/swirly faced Zetsu obliterating that door counts for or against the strength of ninjas.

Cause the first time Obito tried it his arm melted in exchange for a bigass crack, but the second attempt with Zetsu assisstance made it look easy, but they were also connected the the Juubi at the time?

Edit2: Holy shit, Anko has a BMI of 16.4! That girl needs to eat something!
She does; they're called dango.

And funny enough, the first Databook did, in fact, do a calorie count of all the dango she ate in that one sitting before Anbu showed up with news about the discovered bodies. While I don't remember the number off the top of my head, I Googled the calorie count of a modern dango, times the number of toothpicks stuck into the tree (46).

5888 calories.

That's over half of what Michael Phelps took in all day during his training for the 2008 Olympics.

Of course, calories and chakra seem to go hand-in-hand, based on both Tsunade and Choji, so it could very well be possible to weight less than 90 pounds if you're a ninja -- using chakra burns up calories like no other.

Gives a whole new meaning to the term "burn off the fat."

Part of that may be that Obito's body wasn't physically up to it while the Obito/Zetsu body was more capable, but there are many factors here, including Obito's will, the Juubi, and the merging of Uchiha and Senju powers (from which Zetsu was derived). I don't think you can infer much from that particular scene.

Zetsu are only low-quality Hashirama clones, not Uchiha in them(except Black Zetsu)

I'm necroing this because I have a question about chakra enhancements. Namely, Tsunade's whole age thing. This came to my attention when I was playing Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, and commented to a girl who knew nothing about Naruto that Tsunade was actually 50, and that she just looks young. I tried to explain how it worked to her, but I wasn't too successful because I'm not all that sure myself.

Is it some sort of advanced genjutsu? Is she actually making herself younger? Is it just skin deep, and her body isn't moving as fast as it used to because the organs are aging? If the second is true, then why does it fade when she uses up all her chakra? Has she gained the secret of immortality?! (kidding) Seriously, though. I'm confused.

We're given very little detail on the subject, tbh. It's not a genjutsu and it fades when she's low on chakra since it's something that she has to constantly maintain. I'd say that it does grant her a younger body since her actual body is a lot older and frailer than it should be because of her regeneration. Or it could be in between where she has the features and muscles of her younger self but her internal organs are older. I think of it as a unique type of Henge no Jutsu based on her medical ninjutsu.

I think it's basically just henge, but since she's just transforming into a slightly different version of herself it requires less effort than transforming into someone else, and because she's such a medical genius she can temporarily vitalize her muscles and organs for less chakra than someone else could. S as long as it's active she has a physically younger body but it's not immortality because she'll still die of old age when her time comes. Probably the older she gets the more chakra intensive and less effective the jutsu will become, and when she's Hiruzen's age (70) she'll look 40-50.

Tsunade can actually look any age:

And I seem to be revising my thoughts on superhuman ninja bodies every few weeks or so. -_-

1) Ninja use their stamina – physical and mental energy that hasn’t been converted into chakra – to fuel their superhuman movements and taijutsu. Their muscle strength is supplemented by these energies as well as the chakra that constantly flows through their body. They do not actively create chakra and their strength, speed and stamina can all be increased through purely physical training.

2) Ninja actively generate chakra and focus it into a limb to increase force i.e. hitting harder, jumping higher and running faster. This is typically achieved after learning chakra control exercises like tree and water walking. E.g. Sasuke using the tree walking training to enhance his movements, Sakura using it against Ino and Naruto focusing chakra to his feet to increase his speed.

Tsunade and Sakura's skills would technically fall under this category.

It would appear that learning to use this method also enhances the ninja's natural speed (and strength?) as shown by Sasuke instantly dealing with ten water clones when he couldn't handle one a week before.

3) Ninja use specific ninjutsu to enhance their bodies further. The most common example is the Body Flicker Jutsu which uses chakra to vitalise the body and allow the user to move at high speeds. There is also the Inuzuka’s Four Legs Jutsu which envelops the body in chakra and the Raikage’s Lightning Armour that enhances their neural synapses.

The main thing that's been bothering me lately is what's the difference between a ninja and civilian physically. If a kid didn't bother learning to create or control chakra at all but underwent the same physical training as an academy, would they still become superhuman or would they be no stronger or faster than someone in real life?

I'm sticking with my theory that the bodies of everybody in the Naruto-verse, be they ninja, samurai or civilian, automatically convert a little stamina into chakra unconsciously, which flow through their circulatory system.

The Sage of the Six Paths awoke the Rinnegan, which can see chakra, and eventually created ninjutsu after wondering what the glowy stuff that flowed through his body was.

Ninja train to increase their stamina and condition their circulatory system to be able to handle higher amounts of "internal chakra" (I'm uncertain whether actual "ninjutsu-grade" chakra flows through the CCS, or whether it's like some unmixed form of physical and spiritual energy that everybody just calls chakra.)

Well judging by things like kekkei genkai and elemental affinities and certain clans such as the Uzumaki having naturally greater lifeforces and stamina and Haku being able to nature transform chakra instinctively at a young age and such, chakra usage seems to be largely hereditary. So I'd say that a civilians potential for becoming superhuman with training probably depends a great deal on how many ninja they have in their family history. Someone from some hodunk village in the middle of nowhere, far from any ninja village, and descended from a long line of peasants, well that person likely is never going to be a powerful ninja no matter how hard they train. Whereas someone from a famous ninja family such as the Uchiha that's waged wars for centuries, is descended from an unbroken line of ninja straight back to the Sage of Six Paths himself, and that likely practices eugenics and genetic engineering to keep their kekkei genkai pure and strong, well that person is gonna have an incredible innate talent for the ninja arts that virtually no civilian born ninja will ever be able to match.

So basically civilians from ninja villages are probably just as capable of becoming superhuman through training as most of the ninja are because they've been interbreeding with them for generations, while civilians who aren't related to ninja clans will have a much harder time acquiring such power. Rock Lee is exactly how I imagine that a civilian with no ninja family history who tried to take up martial arts would fare compared to a village or clan ninja, needing ten times the effort to get the same results.
