We didn't need any additional splooge, thank you... There was sure to be enough to fill all the sperm banks of the US already...

Besides, how many of us really read or write yuri fic? I read some for certain fandoms, but I don't write any and I wouldn't know how to write it half-decently, even if I wanted to write any.

As for why there's no forum for it? What Mosh said.
But, in responce, just because I haven't posted any fics yet doesn't mean that I don't want to... I have to just get my ideas down on the page... But then again, we don't really NEED a yuri sub-board... Just post as femslash in the subject line, I guess...

First off, thanks Hawk-san, for the new forums. I was absent for 2 days and I came back and found all the new forums. Can't wait to start hijacking threads and post spamfics and....*coughs* I mean, off course, make constructive contributions to the world of fanfic writing. Now I've got plenty of catching up to do.

Does anyone agree that the lemon forums need subforums, just to sort out the fandoms? It's becoming increasingly difficult to sort out which thread belongs to which fandom. Off course, some would argue that it's lemon, who cares what fandom it comes from, it's lemon. Well, that's just my opinion.

Err...and a yuri forum? What's up with that? I agree, if you put up something like that, the yaoi folks (yaoi jihadists as DKG puts it) would have a solid arguing point to ask for their own yaoi forum....then all hell would break loose and we'd end up with just another ff.net.

Yuri is your prerogative to write and post. There have been some hot yuri fics posted in the Lemons section. Just make sure to label the content if it contains something like yaoi, yuri, or the like.

Also... femslash? Slashing is slashing; gender does not enter into the equation. If the characters don't have an acceptable setup for getting together, the fic has failed in a crucial area: plot and characterization.

Slashing = bad. Characterization = good. Remember this and you can go far.

I've noticed the adult section is now broken down by category.

This creates a minor issue though.

If there is a fan fiction category you do not want to read, and click to mark the section as read, it takes you all the way back to the main page. Before, this was not an issue with the normal breakdown of fan fiction categories since they were already on the main page. However, now it is a bit inconvenient.

Any way to fix that?

Hmm. Doesn't seem 'too' inconviant to me at the moment. Instead of clicking on 'fanfiction', you click on lemon instead...

Oh, I see where you're getting at PCHeintz72. You're talking about clicking on a fandom to make all of the topics in it 'read' even if you haven't since you don't want to read them. I see where you're getting at. Yeah I can see why that would be annoying. Haven't done that myself yet, even to fandoms I don't normally read on the regular forums (like Harry Potter for example).

Anyways, woohoo! More forums! ^_^

And yes, Yuri does NOT deserve its own forum since, if there is a Yuri forum, in the tradition of equality and fairness here, than a Yaoi forum would have to set up too. And you know, if we go down this road, problems WILL occur. <_<

But if we had a yaoi forum at least the next time such a story showed up in the forum we'd have advanced warning.

I think *way* too many people are *way* too obsessed with yaoi. Both for and against it.

To me, the solution is simple. If one does not like it, then simply do not read it.

It's like a big red button with the words "Do not press" You know people cannot resist depressing it... :p

We cannot avoid Yaoi fics. We can only read it and then complain about it. it's too hardwired into our mindset...

I've never had that problem...

I generally do not even care if it is yoai or not, I just read it, if I like it, fine, if not, I stop.

This is not rocket science or complex equations.

read something + like it = continue reading

read something + not like it = do not read any more

Right click and open in new window solves the problem for IE users. It's just to shut the window down once shit is marked as read and then you're still in the lemon forum in the original window.

Only problem with 'not' reading is, sometimes, some writers decide NOT to say that their fics are Yaoi or not. So, a fic you clicked on thinking it might be good, only to turn out to be yaoi shit.

That being said, I do agree that the obsession with yaoi does go a bit far here. Of coruse given how the Naruto section turned out, can't blame it either. <_<

Yes, i find it regretfully that there are no rules regarding that and if there are... then they're somewhere in the broom closet. Just because the fan girls like reading it doesn't mean that the rest has to read it too.

No, no, NO!

That's the first step on the road to yaoi infestation!

Really? I don't have that problem at all.

If that's the case, it makes me wonder if it's more like "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

^^;;

Also, Mosh, love the new avatar/sig, Sunako FTW!

To be fair, if someone like, say, Hawk or Random wrote yaoi, I'd likely read it, simply because they are the kind of dudes that can turn literary shit into pure solid gold.

But unless a fic is REALLY FUCKING GOOD, I'll never read yaoi.

And how will you know whether it is good or if it sucks until you have actually read and judged it for yourself? :p

Nah, never had that problem either. If it says yaoi on the cover, I steer clear. If it says yuri on the cover, I hot foot it out of town.

Well, in all fairness, I've read a few Motoko/Shinobu fics, and they were passable. If the fic really is good, then I can sometimes tolerate the crap that goes with it. Otherwise, no.

What I really can't stand is that sometimes the cover (in this case, the summary) looks quite innocent. Then I read 2 or 3 chapters and, well, massive ugh. You get the idea. At least the people in the Negima section have the decency to mark their stuff KonoSetsu....though I guess they do that to attract the fanboys <_<

Wish they'd force fanfic writers to mark their fics with homosexuality warnings though like they do with Rape/Violence, underage stuff, spoiler warnings, etc. Then it would be smooth sailing..... :p

 Good to meet another Sunako fan. It's a pity i didn't found one with her in that nice uniform. :snigger:

Easy, just by having a look at the summary. 95% of the times it foreshadows what you should expect in the fic, quality wise that is.

Wish they'd force fanfic writers to mark their fics with homosexuality warnings though like they do with Rape/Violence, underage stuff, spoiler warnings, etc. Then it would be smooth sailing..... tongue.gif
Agreed. One has to think that homosexuality is not accepted everywhere. Besides, just like Rape/Violence it's not something that the majority practices.

*you have to woder just why some of the fan girls are so obssesed with it. :huh.: *

easily...
as you start reading the fic, if you pay attention to the characterization AND the dialogue between said characters...
if its well done you'll keep reading and appreciate the scenes because they add to the story and not become the sole purpose of it;
if not you'll notice it right quickly, stop reading and just hit the back [<-] button and hunt down the list looking for another story that might catch your eye

I agree in principle, the problem comes when yaoi/slash fics are not labeled as such, and you don't find out until AFTER you start reading them. Especially when it starts on a lemon scene. That has happened to me more than once when browsing HP fanfic archives.

If all yaoi/slash fics were clearly labeled as such, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

P.S. is there a difference between yaoi and slash besides yaoi being for anime/manga?

Sorry about the previous post, I know I basically repeated what somebody else said. I misread the screen and thought I was on the last page of the forum, I didn't know there were other replies on another page.

Well, some people might be offended at being called 'perverted', but I find this change amusing. ;)

Tho', Hawk, why isn't your status Pervert God/Overseer? :p

And why isn't Hawk the Pervert God?

I noticed a change in mine, but though it was something I got when I topped 500 and just never noticed. I rarely pay attention to those things. I think at one point Lord Raa wanted to change mine to something more appropriate. Don't know if he ever did though. However, I did not notice the group I belong to changed until now.
