Clone Wars

First take a look at this, & this and this one.
Done? Good, let's get rolling.

Let's start with the good.

Yay! More STAR WARS, WOOO!!!!

No Ewoks! (Dances a jig)

Clone Troopers & Jedi Kicking Butt across the galaxy! (Cabbage Patching ensues)

All right that takes care of the fanwank, on to the more serious stuff. I am honestly hopeful that we will get to see more and more of Palpatine slowly drawing Anakin into line with his way of thinking. The Prequels only hinted at the conversations they must've had to bring Anakin to the point where he trusted Palpatine more than the council and Obi-wan.

I'm also looking forward to seeing the friendship between the Anakin & obi-wan. I mean in the beginning of "Revenge of the Sith" those two were essentially the dynamic duo. Working together I'd give them odds on taking the Emperor. Afterall Yoda on lost because of that last exchange of force power. Betwen Anakin's power and Obi-wan's wisdom, you've got a team that I sure as heck would not want to face if I were a Sith Lord. Hence the Emperor arranging for Obi-wan to be gone at a critical moment, no sense in having someone around who might bring Anakin back to his senses before he'd fallen to far.

Of course watching the Clone Wars themselves unfold will be fun. I mean this is the time when Storm...ehem Clone Troopers were the hand of justice in the old republic. Swooping in to save world's and civilizations from the Droid armies of the CIS, with the Jedi at their head.

No on to the bad. Lucas is involed which could present a problem. Lucas is a great idea man, his concepts for most of his movies are stellar. However he has trouble with the execution of his ideas. I mean Empire & Jedi were directed by someone else, each one taking his concepts and turning them into a great film. Also, Lucas has a slight problem with continuity. He will retcon something just to make the stry more interesting (See Leia's statments about her mother) which can be infuriating at times.

Well, I have more to say but my time is up, so I'm curious what you all think about the series?

As long as they make Grevious as heart-stoppingly terrifying as he was in the cartoons, I'll be happy.

Good point, I loved how Grevious was protrayed in the micro series. Even without four arms he was an opponenet to be feared. As for the movie, well to be fair, Mace essentially pulled an "*African American* Please" on him at the end of that cartoon series so him not being in top form for his fight with Obi-wan was understandable.

I'm also somewhat optimistic about Ahsoka Tano,as I'm fond of little sister characters (See Mission Vao for prime example). It'll be interesting to see what she learns from being in the company of Kenobi & Skywalker. Here's hoping she survives Order 66.

Agreed. I wonder, though, how long it'll be before we start seeing Anakin/Ahsoka or Vader/Ahsoka fics, or stories where an older Ahsoka trains Luke in the Sticky Side of the Force (which is probably why she isn't a Twi-lek - it occurred to them that that might happen). I wouldn't be surprised if the first ones come out before the cartoon does.

Her species could be related to the Twi'leks though, something that has been theorized and there are others of her species shown.

You know, since this is a computer animated film and not live-action, does this mean that we'll see the Jedi do some of the ridiculous things they did in the Clone Wars cartoon? Cause if the movies are the highest levels of canon in the Star Wars universe, and the Jedi do even half of the things done in the cartoon, that should stop any arguments about how strong Jedi are compared to other characters.

Actaully I think they did say that they were going to tone it down from the miniseries.

The Jedi were pretty good in the micro CW. But you can shove them straight up your fanboy ass. The REAL stars of this show, hopefully, are going to be the clones. I still get goosebumps thinking about that micro episode where the clones took down that Surface to Orbit cannon. One of the most badass moments in Star Wars history, and in n incredible feat they maintained that kind of badassery throughout the show even when they lost.

ARC Troopers rock, they are nigh invincible crazies as shown in it.

Of course with the Clone Wars series' 1 & 2, they have them set up as the tales of the clone wars according to a lot of people, making the actions exaggerated quite a bit. That explains Grievous' little super powers and everything else like Mace on Dantooine.

Hey, hey, hey, hey. Grievous was trained by Dooku himself. I think he should be a bit more badass, if I do say so myself.

And Mace was supposed to be among the greatest lightsaber duelers in the entire order's history (even though Sam Jackson didn't know one end of a blade from the other, and it showed.)

A dark robed figure pours sith lightening into the thread.

"Arise! I command thee!"

All right people, here's a preview for Season 2.

What I am looking forward to:

More Jedi/Clone tag team action. I loved seeing the episode where Yoda and three clone fight their way through a sith trap, along with an episode where two clone troopers aid a lost little twilek girl. Also, more Rex, as he is an excellent commander.

Cad Bane, the Bounty Hunters and the Mandalorians. In Season 1, the CIS needed more capable operatives I mean you can't have Grevious, The bog-witch, and Count Dooku getting into saber fights every other episode. So now with the Bounty Hunters, and Mandos added, there will be plenty of credible threats for the Jedi to face.

The True Mandos.

I have not been a big fan of Karen Traviss's work, but I do respect her attempt to flesh out the clone troopers. Some of her work, I feel, was an inspiration for some of what we've seen in CWAS. That said, her attempts to shove the Mando culture into any book she wrote got annoying, especially when the Mandos were presented as such Paragons. Now, however, we get a chance to see the Mandos as they were meant to be, brutal and dangerous warriors skileld enough to challenge a Jedi.

To borrow from an ancient Jedi Master in reference to Mandalorians.

"Although there is something noble about their rugged honor, and their dedication to self improvement is similar to our (The Jedi Order's) own, they are not our friends."

The Clone Wars series may have just had one of it's best 'Anakin's getting closer to the darkside' moments in episode 13. Now to be fair, there was one earlier in the season that was very well done, in which Anakin tortures a prisoner to get information that saved Ashoka's life. That said I personally feel the one in episode 13 was even better.

Here's the set-up. Anakin & Obi-wan are protecting a Dutchess that represents all the worlds that wish to take no sides in the Republic/Seperatist war. She is a staunch pacifist, and has history with Kenobi. I'll let you see the Episode to find out to what extant.

Anyways, a traitor wires the ships engines to blow, captures the Dutches and makes his way to an escape pod with Kenobi in pursuit. Anakin is busy killing Super battle droids when this initially goes down but finishes up pretty quick and moves to help his old friend. The Dutchess get's free of her captor and points a gun at him. The guy laughs and says that even though he intends to blow the ship up anyway once he's clear, she won't kill him because it would make her a hypocrit. He also says Kenobi won't do it because it would make him a monster in the eyes of the Dutchess. The traitor mocks them both by asking "Which of you is willing to become a cold blooded killer?"

That's when the recently arrived Anakin stabs the traitor through the back with his lightsaber. I fell out laughing.

Look to be honest the traitor was asking for a 'Shut up Hannibal' punch. The fact that it was delivered by Anakin right after he asked that question was simply perfect!

True dat..Also, there's some unresolved sexual tnesion between the Duchess and Obi-Wan.. Obi-Wan even admits he'd left the Jedi to be with her.

You had to appreciate how the background music got really close to the Imperial March there too.

I loved Anakin's response when Obi-Wan looked like he was ready to go into lecture mode.

A shrug and "What? He was going to blow up the ship."

I swear it was like the stuff we come up with for the time loops there for a second.

True, although the guy with the detonator was an idiot anyway.

Oh I'll wave around my only bargaining chip in plain sight right in front of someone who can telekinetically rip it from my hand with a thought. I would have loved to see Obi-Wan pull a "Yoink" moment almost as much as I liked Anakin finishing the glorified mook off.

 RESURRECTION

Just finished first season.

1. Was I they only one surprised how violent this series is? It's like if you aren't going to appear later in the movies your chances of dying are around 95%.

2. Did they make Twi'leks french so we would hate them? Every time they speak I die a little inside, Aayla Secura used to be attractive.

3. On the topic of attractive aliens, still waiting for sexy 3D Shaak Ti.

4. Kinda on topic of attractive aliens, how does everyone feel about Ahsoka Tano?

5. Why do most alien Jedi dress like prostitutes?

Here're my answers:
1. This IS war, after all. What do you expect? I do like that tone, though.
2. And I thought French makes everything sexy...
3. Well, considering she only wore that outfit you're thinking of in the Force Unleashed...
4. Maybe when she "grows up" a little...
5. Sex sells..need I say more?

1. Yeah, I love it too. I grew up in the age of X-Men, Spider-man (very limited violence) and shit. Cartoons in general seem to have death as a big taboo, few cartoons bring it up often. Having it in nearly every episode is taking some getting used to.
2. The accent is just obnoxious. Want to slap them all. Would still rape their women thou.
3. I was referring to the older Clone Wars cartoon. She was always sexy.
4. I was referring to her as a character, but yeah, wait for a couple years...
5. Yeah. :)

I'm a little annoyed with the idiot ball in the latest episode. It seemed everyone decided to be dumb in regards to the walking doom monster.

-Palpatine deciding to bring the Doom Monster to the Capital? They didn't have a deserted research planet available anywhere?
-Killing the last of a species doesn't cause it to go extinct. If it's the last of the species, it's only a matter of time.
-If you're so concerned about killing off a species, then why not clone it? It's a fairly obvious solution, given your entire military is made up of clones.

Probably was an excuse to cause a Godzilla-style rampage...Maybe Palpatine thought it'd take out a Jedi or two..Maybe it'd cause a public relations plot..Who knows what Palpatine was thinking this time.

Well, there apparently was a full on zoo for odd animals that was closed down and replaced with a holographic one as of the EU novels, so this could be the reason for that...

This last episode was Palpatine's 'Kick the Dog' moment. I mean only a Sith Lord could murder such a cute creature like the Zillo beast. It's too bad Z-chan was unable to kill Palpatine, so much suffering could've been avoided had our hero succeeded.

Hey I know! In the next ROTJ special edition, let's add a shot of Z-chan's force ghost standing behind Anankin, Obi-wan and Yoda as a way to pay homage to this fallen hero!! :p
