Would the monster Grendel from the poem Beowulf be suited as a Berserker class Servant?
Since scholars have pointed out that he might be. Whether he's human or not..is another thing.

I believe there there's a FS/N fan fiction out already using Field Marshal Erwin Rommel as an Eirei. Rider Class. Uses a PzIIIJ as his "steed".

Now I'd like to see is Razgriz from Ace Combat 5 come to life as an Eirei. Probably as a Saber.

Fictional character, dude. ;) :p
So is Sasaki Kojiro and he's part of Nasuverse canon. Razgriz is supposed to be a legend in Ace Combat 5.
Sasaki Kojiro is different, in that he's an actual legend. Video game characters aren't. You might be able to summon pop culture icons like Darth Vader or James Bond, but random video game characters? No way.

Does your average man-on-the-street know who Haruhi is? No? Then you probably can't summon her.

Besides, summoning the creator of the universe as an Eirei might be a bad idea. Kyon OTOH might be possible, since there where hints in the novels that he will become famous later on.

How famous they are in-story doesn't matter. It's the level of fame IRL (or, at least, within the Nasuverse's IRL) that matters. Darth Vader, James Bond, the Doctor, Conan the Barbarian, Sherlock Holmes: these are the sorts of fictional characters that might be suitable for summoning. Haruhi? Noone who's not an anime fan knows who the heck she is.

In any case, it's off topic, since this thread is about real legends or historic figures. There's another thread for fictional characters.

Actually, Kyon is hinted as the same position of Shirou. He will do something in the future that will make him famous. So making Kyon a hero of the future is possible.

When was that hinted? I've read the books but I don't want to go through each one again. And I feel no shame for breaking your nice pyramid by the way.

It in "The Intrigues of Suzumiya Haruhi" Chapter 6. When Asahina got kidnapped by a rival organization. A female member of the group said this to Kyon.

"Looks like we have no choice,"

One of the kidnappers said, as though oblivious to her current situation,

"We kind of expected it, but we still failed. I guess this was all predetermined,"

Dressed in red and still sitting inside the car, the one that spoke was the woman who carried Asahina-san out of the car. No matter how I look at her, she is relatively young, about the same age as myself.

As though trying to flirt with me, that lady gave a smile like a flower blossoming,

"Nice to meet you. I never thought we would meet under such circumstances, despite this, I'm still deeply honored. I had originally planned to find a suitable occasion to pay you a visit."
You don't say that to just an ordinary person. Makes you wonder what he did to make him famous.

Actually not snap and kill her bloodily for being a gigantic bitch?

Sure, being patient is a virtue. Look at how many saints we revere and respect nowadays. Doesn't mean they were known for shit else BESIDES being patient as lions ate them.

Here's a character reformated from a story I'm doin' right now to fit the template.

Class: Caster
True Name: Alexander Nemo

Cast out from a family of magi in the 19th century, due to an apparent lack of power, he headed west to make his fortune. Finding himself incredibly unlucky as a prospector, he began to gamble. And found he was extremely good at it. Eventually, he began to pour some of his gains back into mage-craft and became a crafter of magical items par excellence.

As tales of his legendary gambling prowess spread, so did the rumors that he was cheating using 'magic'. Eventually he was hunted down by angry losers and killed.

Skills
Gambling: A
The ability to win at games of chance. At this rank, losing requires outside interference, or actively trying. Events will still conspire to make one win.

Item Creation: B
Ability to craft enchanted items. Class skill for Caster. At this rank, one can create magical items on par with C- rank Noble Phantasms, given enough time and resources.

Noble Phantasms

Silver Vest, B Rank
A magical vest that is capable of stopping bullets. While this is useful, it's true power lies in it's many pockets, and various concealed items. It is capable of holding objects many times larger and heavier than should be possible.

Black Deck, B Rank
A set of cards that is used to entice people into playing a game of cards. It's effect is powerful enough to temporarily stop even extremely violent enemies from fighting. Also, while in effect, any wagers based on the game will create a contract that forces the parties to obey them. Resisting playing the game takes either powerful charisma, determination, or luck. While using this NP, Gambling skill degrades against opponents with higher luck.

Blue Bullets, C- Rank
Magic bullets created from a secret formula. Their striking power is equivalent to a direct from a C rank noble phantasm. Unfortunately, they are only good for a short time, and will be reduced to a Broken Phantasm in three days. They will only be able to act as bombs, then.
---------------

OK, this guy is supposed to be a sort of... well, think of him as a lovable rogue. The personification of a guy who's life is on the tables, and wouldn't have it any other way. In the Old West, he had all sorts of crazy adventures.

He's not based on anyone in particular, and, during the writing process, morphed alot. He's probably way too powerful for being a guy who's legend is more like a local folktale. You'll also notice that the profile is missing a few things, like what his actual stats are. I'm too lazy to finish, and I'm willing to bet I'd screw up the stats too.

What about the Emperor of Japan? They've probably got a Divinity rating of C, like Alexander, and they've definitely got three Noble Phantasms, those being the Imperial Regalia of Japan (the sword Kusanagi, the mirror Yata no Kagami, and the jewels Yasanaki no Magatama). The middle one is depicted in Fate/Extra; it gives you endless amounts of prana for casting spells (and, possibly, activating other Noble Phantasms; Fate/Extra's caster didn't have any other Noble Phantasms, so we can't say for sure). Even if one of the more recent Emperors might not be able to become an Heroic Spirit, they're probably capable of fighting on a par with one.

I've been working on a F/S N tabletop game lately. Since Servant choice in it is random (with the exception of Berserker), I compiled a list of the all the people I would choose. I'm ignoring some things for the sake of fun (I want gun using Heroes, damnit!).

Saber: Fiore Dei Liberi

Lancer: Guan Yu

Archer: Simo Hayha

Rider: Mannfred von Richtoften

Caster: Nostradamus

Assassin: Vasily Zaitsev

Berserker: The Viking of Stamford Bridge

Here are a pair of Eirei.

Servant Archer: <a href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasily_Zaytsev' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Vasily Grigorevich Zaytsev</a>.

The Hero of Stalingrad has been summoned for the Holy Grail War. What will this russian soldier do at his Master's enemies?

[False] Servant Assassin: <a href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erwin_K÷nig' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Erwin K÷nig</a>.

The fictional (or not?) fated enemy of Servant Archer. He has a rivalry with the former Russian sniper, and he want to have a rematch with him...

I don't have any ideas for the NF of this two Servants, if you want to create it... feel free to do it.

Not too familiar with the actual rules used in Fate/stay night but this looks like fun so I thought I'd give it a crack.

Gotz von Berlichingen:
Servant: saber

Noble Phantasm: Eiserne hand

Noble Phantasm: Overturn the caissons
Type: Anti army
Rank: C
Description: Plunging his Eiserne hand into the ground Gotz fulfils his role in Gatsos poem and bring great change to the land. Those that seek to oppose this change must step aside lest they be trampled beneath it.
This noble Phantasm causes great geological upheaveal in a wide area centred upon Gotz himself; the very foundations of buildings writhe and twist, turning in their beds and sending that which they support crashing down.
Open ground is shattered and mounded, peppered with ditches and difficult to traverse safely.

Pier Gerlofs Donia
Class: Rider

Legendary Frisian giant

Noble Phantasm: Cross of the Dutch
Type:
Rank:
This huge sword, a full seven feet long has come to symbolise the legendary strength of its wielder

Fictional:

The Black Swordsman

Servant: Berserker

Noble Phantasm: Dragonslayer
Type: Anti-divine/anti demon
Rank: A

This vast blade, more a bloodstained mass of iron than a true sword is steeped in the blood and hatred of its owner and all those that stood against him; be they mortal, spirit or the servants of God itself.
The Dragonslayer is capable of piercing any and all magical protections and effects.

Noble Phantasm: butcher of Angels
Type: Personal

Stat increase verses ædivineÆ foes

Berserker armour (mantle of the hell-hound)
type: Personal
Rank: A-B

A cursed suit of armour crafted by dwarves and previously worn by a foe of GodÆs hand upon the earth this malignant plate strips its wearer of the limitations of mortality, at once protecting and further injuring him. Be it blade, club or spear no wound save decapitation shall stop the warrior until the bloodthirst of his soul is quenched.
Effect: Mad enhancement, can only be killed via decapitation or exsanguination.

So, weapons themselves can become Heroic Spirits, right?

The Nuke is the "most destructive weapon of the age", and thus it should exist in the Throne of Heroes. Anyone care to try statting it out as a Servant? Probably Rider, given that it is delivered by bomber, submarine, and ICBM.

A weapon could theoretically become an Eirei. The catch is, said weapon must have a soul, and the legend would have to center around that specific weapon, not a whole category of weapons.
