So, news! Beware the Batman is going to be allowed to finish the produced episodes, but only at 3 AM on Toonami. It's being pulled completely from the DC Nation block and will only be on very early on Saturday mornings. So while it will be allowed to finish its season it probably won't get renewed.

I find this unfortunate because they cancelled Brave and the Bold for this and it didn't even last a full season before getting torpedoed by the network.

Wow. Some over at CN really hates DC. Still, it's good to know that the final episodes will be aired, even if it's the middle of the night.

Well it goes back to what I said earlier in the thread. Despite being subsidiaries of the same Mega-corp, DC and Cartoon Network are not the same. CN has to pay licensing fees for any and all DC properties, which jacks up the price. The only reason TTG is such a network darling is because it's cheap as hell to make because of the flash animation and the comedy genre style. That's how I see it anyway. The main issue is that the CN network executives are afraid to take risks other than Follow the leader and sometimes seem to forget they're the CARTOON Network.

Honestly, it seems more that CN is afraid of any show that has a run time longer than 11-12 minutes. Early mornings and their Looney Tunes/Tom and Jerry programming blocks are the only times you'll see during the day that don't have all of its shows have 11-12 minute episodes.

Which is a shame; I thought The Looney Tunes Show was pretty damn good. I wouldn't mind seeing more of their Superhero Shorts, especially the Super Best Friends (Wonder Girl, Batgirl, and Supergirl).

Or that Chinese Bat-Man. Those were some kickass shorts.

Well there are still Shorts being made, there were a couple for Batman's 75th, including one by Bruce Timm and one featuring Batman Beyond with Kevin Conroy and Will Friedle doing voices. Whether there will be more shorts BEYOND that is another question.

When were these aired? And might you have links, perchance?

You may have seen them already as they've been bandied about a bit in the last week, but sure.
The Bruce Timm one which is inspired by Early Batman Pulp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFwOS2R9o_8

The Darwyn Cooke Batman Beyond one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z65aq1EVGhs

They were broadcast in early April if memory serves.

And for the sake of completeness the 75th anniversary Superman one from a few months ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebXB0lBoaQ0

So, relevance is perhaps debatable, but it seems that Batman is once again DC Animated's go to guy. We had Son of Batman back in may (was that any good by the way?) and we're getting something set in the Arkham video game universe in August. It will have Kevin Conroy back though so I'll probably end up watching it.

The next BIG DC animated film is going to be Throne of Atlantis apparently which I'm sorta dubious about because while I actually do enjoy the New 52 Aquaman in some ways, that arc was a trainwreck and won't make much sense to anyone who isn't familiar with Aquaman's backstory to some degree... which is almost everyone.

On the TV front all we've got is TTG, and I haven't heard of anything else coming down the pipe. Anyone hear different?

Apologies for Double Post but it's been awhile.

So, I'll assume that given it's been the better part of a year, nobody's heard much on the animation front. I ended up watching most of the Arkham flick, it was ok. Throne of Atlantis... I haven't watched yet but I've watched clips and my god is it gory. Or at elast that's what I take away from watching Mera Decapitate people. The animations tyle is pretty .... not good ... as well. I don't like it at least.

Pfft. Oh god the faces. They brought back the superman meme face.

Ahem. On a more serious note, boy does that sound like a stupid show, both the series in general and this episode in particular.

So true. TTG is a fun show a lot of the time; it's got some truly 'laugh out loud' moments, and the interaction between the Titans is fun to watch. It's a good show to watch in small doses.

But YJ had the better storylines, the plot twists, the subtle foreshadowing that made you watch and keep coming back for more. The revelation of Darkseid in the final episode just blew my mind. There was so much potential there... and CN just threw it away.

To be fair:

1- They really don't understand their audience.

2- The people in charge of making and marketing the toys really dropped the ball.

3- The way Time-Warner is set up, IIRC, YJ was costing CN money, and earning it for a different Time-Warner subsidiary.

Only point 1 is Cartoon Network's fault.

Nice to see that Zod isn't going to be a two-dimensional character.
