Originally, I was going to use this for showing just the reactions of the people in the Tamers Universe, what with the dramatically changed 02. However, I decided that I would use this as a place for DA Side Stories in general. This includes things about the Demon Lords, Snippits of the future, the Royal Knights, the Holy Beasts, and other stuff besides.

Chapter One: The First Episode

ôKenta, get in here!ö Hirokazu shouted.

ôIÆm coming, IÆm coming; calm down already.ö Kenta said, his arms full of snack foods.

If someone saw them, they would have thought they were sitting down for the film of the year. In reality, they were just getting ready for the new episode of Digimon.

But to them, it was the same thing.

ôDamn, I canÆt believe TakatoÆs gonna miss thisàö Hirokazu said, eyes glued to the screen. The credits of some other anime that was of no importance before Digimon were rolling and the episode he was waiting for would start shortly.

ôHeÆs probably watching it at his house.ö Kenta pointed out, reasonably. They were over at his house, because Hirokazu had insistedàfor some reason. Takato had said he was busy.

Takato had been busy a lot recently.

Kenta shook himself from those thoughts when his friend started bouncing in his seat.

ôItÆs starting!ö

The opening started off pretty upbeat and cheerful, as Kenta had expected, but he was surprised when the music got steadily darker. A number of faces appeared and he didnÆt recognize most of them. He saw Taichi and Yamato and the rest of the Chosen, but there were several new faces which he guessed were new characters. The opening ended with a black silhouette that looked strangely familiar standing alone on a grey beach.

And then the episode itself began, hitting them right off the bat with images of Pyocomon being deleted. Some were consumed by fireballs and died screaming. Some hid and were struck down despite the walls the coward behind. But they all died.

Pyocomon Village was dying and they werenÆt even three minutes in. They hadnÆt even seen the face of the person doing the killing yet!

ôHolyàö Hirokazu breathed, wide-eyed.

Kenta just gapped at the screen.

Wow.

Well, they were obviously doing something new this season.

Meramon showed up a minute later, but it was already too late to help. Pyocomon Village might as well not exist. And while it was a pleasant surprise to see Meramon again, the fact remained that he was a minor character who was going up against the villain of the showàwhoever that was.

The two boys knew enough about anime to know how that was going to turn out.

Suddenly, the scene cut to a young man laughing maniacally, causing Hirokazu to wince.

ôWow; he doesnÆt even get an onscreen death? Harsh.ö He said, pityingly.

Kenta looked at his friend oddly.

ôOh, I meanàwhoÆs this guy?ö He corrected himself. ôThe new villain? àI know I shouldnÆt judge a book by its cover, but he doesnÆt look like much compared to most of the other villainsàö

The scene cut again, showingà

The boys blinked as one.

ôIs that Mimi?ö Hirokazu asked.

Kenta tilted his head to the side.

ôI think so. She looks pretty different, thoughàhow long after the first season is this?ö

His friend shook himself.

ôWellàthat doesnÆt matter! The important thing is that now the Chosen have arrived. ItÆs time to kick some ass!ö

XxXXxX

The boys stared at the television screen in stunned horror as Sora was blown out of the sky. In perfect unison, they looked at each other and then back at the screen.

ôWhaàWhat theà? What the hell!?ö Hirokazu suddenly exploded, standing. ôI mean, seriously! Its episode one and a village has been massacred, Meramon died, death became permanent, and now SoraÆs taking a swan dive!ö

Suddenly, the ending started playing. It was full of faux-Latin chanting.

ôEven the songs are creepy!ö He shouted, pointing at the screen. ôWhat is this!? What happened to all that stuff about friendship and love in the first season!? Now itÆs full of death and pain and creepy music!ö

ôYou didnÆt like it?ö Kenta asked curiously.

Hirokazu calmed quite suddenly, sitting back down.

ôI didnÆt say that.ö

Ruki: *watching show* Why do I feel the stange urge to beat up that Takato boy and make him lick my boot?
Rumiko: No Ruki, don't stray down that path! The life an Otaku is not as glamourus as manga make it look!

Also I'd like to see Takato's reaction to Juri shipping DaiKato, KenKato, and Taikato.

I fixed the mistakes people pointed out earlier; thanks guys.

However, I noticed something. This chapter is really short, because it's a review of the first AU 02 episode, which, while different, doesn't have a lot of impotant stuff in it. As such, I've decided not to use it as my first chapter, instead going for something longer and cooler.

Any suggestions?

ôWow.ö Ruki said, lying on her futon. ôDigimonÆs certainly gotten dark this year. What do you think, Renamon? Did you enjoy the show?ö

She didnÆt have to look behind her to know that her partner was there.

She was always there.

ôàIt reminds me a lot of home.ö Her partner said, but though Ruki was sure that there were emotions attached to that statement, she couldnÆt hear any of them in her voice.

ôHmàö Ruki said, lifting her head and glancing at her partner. ôàYouÆre home sounds like a rough place.ö

ôàö

She laid her head down again.

ôWellàit doesnÆt matter anymore. Since youÆre in this world now.ö

ôJenrya, did you not like the show? I thought youÆd been looking forward to the new season.ö Janyuu said as his son walked into his work room.

ôAhàö Jenrya said. ôYeah, butàI guess it wasnÆt what I expected.ö

He looked over his fatherÆs shoulder at the computer screen, remembering things heÆd prefer to forget.

Maybe itÆs not that it wasnÆt what he expected.

Maybe itÆs that it was exactly what heÆd come to expect.

XxXXxX

ôYo, Takato!ö Hirokazu waved to his friend the next day.

ôYou seem excited, Hirokazu.ö Takato said, looking a bit tired.

His friend nodded his head eagerly.

ôDid you see Digimon yesterday?ö

Takato yawned but nodded his head.

ôWhatÆd you think?ö Hirokazu asked. ôIt was pretty violent this season, huh? I mean, if the whole seasons going to be like this, the Digital WorldÆs gonna be empty by the time itÆs over!ö

ôYeah!ö Kenta agreed. ôI mean, theyÆve already lost Pyocomon Village, Meramon, and maybe Sora!ö

Takato nodded again, but he wasnÆt as excited as his friends seemed to be.

In his defense, heÆd gotten to see the whole thing in person.

Watching it on TV just didnÆt compare.

ôWhat do you think of the Kaiser?ö Kenta asked.

Hirokazu pulled a face.

ôI still say he looks lame.ö

Takato smiled at that.

ôWhat he said.ö

Add in a super sentai joke. Something like, all these new tamers are popping up like some additional 7th power ranger.

In any case, fangirls. I would like to see fan girls. lol

Something else for the first chapter huh...

How about: Lucemon coming up with his plan to recruit a Tamer to "play the game", maybe add in a discussion with Dagomon (who may or may not be Leviamon) since they're in the same area.

Alternatively, Lucemon's reaction to the events of the first season.

Technically, they don't have to be as long because they're side stories.

But- I'm not one to complain about new content, so~

Hm. I'm trying to upload the first chapter onto FF.net, but the Document Manager isn't letting me. Is anyone else having that problem?

Anyway, I'm reposting this from the DA thread, but I'll be adding some stuff to it to make a whole chapter.

DevilÆs Advocate: Devil in the Details
Chapter Two: The Obsidian Duke

The Right Hand of the Devil devours all.

Those who enter the Obsidian DukeÆs dominion first learn that he eats light, for the sun grows dim at his borders. Then they learn that he eats color, for his kingdom is a realm of gray.

Those who advance further into his dark wastes realize that parts of it bare the contorted markings of other life; a rock may have the shelled form of CrabmonÆs limbs or a grey tree trunk may reveal the frozen face of a forgotten fool who once braved the Darkness. For he also devours independence and identity, assimilating lesser creatures into his world.

There are places within the Dark that bear the marks of his rapacity upon the fabric of space; where a single step may cover many miles of distance or where every path leads in a single direction because every other course has been devoured. And an hour's passage in other places is as days elsewhere, because he has gnawed there at the bones of Time.

And then there are the places where, in his hunger, the Beast has chewed holes in the World. Gray sands begin to slowly fade into the roughness of concrete and asphalt, or the lushness of fresh grass, or the heat of desert sand and the cold of arctic ice. ItÆs said that creatures and men from strange worlds wander there at times and lose themselves in the darkness, for even the great beasts of the Digital World find it difficult to wrest free from these traps.

The Duke himself is not the only one there who hungers. Many of his abyssal servants share his appetites, and they feed on enemies and on unwary travelers with equal glee. Some are swifter than serpents and stronger than tigers. Others are as stealthy as shadows despite their impossibly brilliant plumage. They rarely deem fit to devour merely their victims' lives, preferring to steal their victims' strengths for themselves.

Few see fit to enter the DukeÆs Kingdom who do not also call it home. Even those who revel in darkness and silence seldom join them. For they seek those things for the solace and comfort they bring.

There is no solace or comfort in that Dismal World.

He has devoured that too.

Where does this come in as an aside?

And Ryuugi, could you post a link to it once it finally works?

Sure.

It's after the creation of the Ten Armies, meaning it's after Lucemon's Betrayal. But it's before the War really picks up, so Takato is still mainly known for his former position as Anti-Christ. That'll change eventually, though.

In this chapter, you'll also see a few really important future characters, including an Obsidian General.

The Obsidian Duke is Metagaos?
Yep. Or he was heavily inspired by Metagoas...and most of the other Yozi, actually. here's a period there after Lucemon reveals what Takato's actually done and why he was made t do it where Takato kind of goes crazy. Like...way, way worse than Megidramon. Demon himself was impressed at his Wrath. The state of the Digital World after his return didn't help, either.

On the other hand, Lucemon is way worse. I was suddenly inspiried to write another scene, but it's for a different chapter. I'll repost it when I write that one, or something (it'll probably be about the World after Lucemon's betrayal, so I might put it off for awhile).

Note also, that what the Narrator ascribes to Lucemon's pride and wrath could just as easily (and more probably) be a result of Lucemon being a troll and a dick.

This is really tiny, but I just had a sudden whim, so...

__________________________________________________________________

All things within this World are LucemonÆs. Raise up thy voice in praise to the mercy and forbearance of Lucemon, King of Angels and Demons, Tyrant over All that Is!

When you tread the streets of his cities, you tread upon what belongs to the King, and in his mercy, he does not break your feet. When you pass a house, you pass his holy abode; marvel that he tolerates your thoughtlessness, and permits the beings within it.

Look up! The sky is the sky of Lucemon, and in it hangs his Morningstar, reminding all who pray and live and fear by its light that they are within his World. The wise then fall to their knees and kiss the stones where the foolish walk, for they are LucemonÆs.

But Lucemon cares not for wisdom, only obeisance.

It happens at times that one person falls to their knees and kisses the streets that are LucemonÆs, and his fellows do not pay heed. They continue to walk past the stones that are LucemonÆs and the doors and windows that are LucemonÆs and the statues and lamps that are LucemonÆs. And then, noticing this affront, Lucemon grows wroth, and the streets become littered with teeth and blood, and all Digimon who saw the wise one and did not follow suit are made to kneel.

In this manner they are reminded that Lucemon is Lucemon, and their King permits them to walk within his world.
