Yep, that was the part.

Gainax is Made of Trolls.

Too true.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. I felt like cheering when Shinji tried to stomp NERV into the ground. He's definitely not spineless in this one.

Forget that. You know the scene where he's just about to win and suddenly the Eva runs out of power? Let's just say that in the movie he's considerably more assertive at that point than he was in the show. I'm not sure if I like it since sometimes he seems too assertive but I have to admit that there's no way they could have an entire film of him running away from his problems.

You know every time Rebuild!Shinji gets a badass moment, it's either him acting like Gendo or a shoutout to his End of Eva breakdown?

Saw this a couple of months ago.

I felt the same. I definitely like rebuild. It is obviously different than the original, but it keeps the feel of it the same.

When they started 3rd impact though, I was honestly like "OMFG..."

Saw it tonight. So everyone got the sub version? And were the sides cropped on theirs too? It was almost a fullscreen, certainly not the complete widescreen.

SPOILERS

Asuka, still awesome, but definite lack o'screentime. Mari, not as annoying as feared, but not really necessary. Assuming some future relevance. Shinji Mark II just gets better. Rei is certainly more human this time.

Misato starts to doubt and compares notes with Kaji much earlier. The latter not only is still among the living but with a screentime and character upgrade. Ritsuko apparently more stable (and less sleeping with the enemy?). In general more bridge bunnies, less stooges. And Hikari reduced to a cameo.

Gendo and Fuyutsuki not only shipping S/R, but made it a necessary part of the Scenario. They still intend to f@$% over SEELE, who are still completely monolith, just for the extra creepy.

And extra creepy brings us to Kaworu. The blithely ignorant, relative innocent Kaworu is gone. His last line...That it all but confirms what had been hinted at up to then is completely overshadowed by the rest. Which is neither blithe nor innocent. :sweat2:

Saw it today. Found it awesome, especially with the glowing eyes of ass-kicking. Green means ok, but not enough to get the job done. Red means worldbreaking awesome/violence will ensue.

Mari's initial intro was kinda cool with Unit 05, but the scene itself was literally too dark. Could barely make out the Eva or the Angel there. Her landing on Shinji was one of the laugh out loud moments of the film.

Loved the parallel of Shinji's intro to Pen-Pen from the tv series and Asuka's here, especially with the added KO kick. Test pilot suit lives up to the nickname, but at least Asuka was self-conscious about it.

Rei is substantially more palatable to me in the movie than she ever was from the original series. They made more blatant parallels between Rei and Yui than ever before, and Rei got some actual character development that felt like it meant something.

Shinji was full of surprises for me. He actually seemed to sway emotionally more than I ever remembered him doing in the original series. The confirmation of "Cooking God" Shinji was an amusing take, especially how it was presented. When he got whiny, it was far more so than I had imagined; but that just made the awesome moments stand out even more. You actually see some of his growth as a character and his setbacks a bit more clearly, IMHO.

All in all, this was a damn fine film. I can't wait to own my copy of it.

Finally saw it. Can't wait for the next. Anyone else feel like they been shot up with testosterone from the end?

Presenting Shinji 2.0 now with Kung-Fu grip!. Even though his actions were a tad short sighted and may have led to the end of the world, I like this Shinji more. I can work with reckless, a reckless person can learn to think things through. I can't do anything with an apathetic human being.

Also I like Mari, she's a Blood Knight, but the fun kind.

Also I almost choked on my drink when I realized that Gendo was actually going to join his son at a cooking party just to spend time with him.

The Flash: These are the end times....
