"Bear Engagement"?

"Wild horse, calm bear"?

"On paws he came"?

"Contracted to a bear"?

"Everything's Worse with Bears". You know you love it.

I wonder how would a bear acting like a crazed cat look like?

Is it going to end up being a cooking battle between Shampoo and Kasumi? Cause that would be awesome, IMHO.
Would be funny if it were treated as an utterly epic event in-verse with them performing ridiculous and over the top cooking techniques, like something out of <a href='http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ptitlet2cbv5fq' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Yakitate Japan</a>

The Only Thing Worse Than a Wild Horse is a Wild Bear

Part 2

Ranma yawned loudly as he woke up to the morning sunshine. HeÆd been ôconvincedö by Mr. Tendo to spend the night in the dojo to preserve ShampooÆs modesty.

Of course, Shampoo had been happy to share the same room as Ranma, and was going to until Kasumi declared that it was improper. And while the Tendo sisters were friendly enough, they decided that they didnÆt want to disturb ShampooÆs sleep before the big fight to settle the engagement to Ranma.

That left him sleeping downstairs with his old man in the dojo.

Genma had convinced his friend to let him sleep on his bedroom floor on the last of the bedding, much to RanmaÆs annoyance. The response to RanmaÆs protests about the perceived injustice was a swift application of cold water.

And that was why he woke up as a bear.

It was a strange sensation to wake up in his cursed form, especially after a heavy sleep. Normally, he was able to wake up pretty quickly in the morning, as lie-ins werenÆt something Ranma was used to. But when he slept as a bear, things took much longer for him to gain the motivation to get up and start moving around.

He yawned again, running his long tongue over his pointy teeth.

æDefinitely time for something to eat,Æ he thought. æBut first, the bathroomàÆ

And lo and behold, Nabiki is in the bathroom.

I'm liking the interactions in this one.

I like Nabiki being scared of the bear while it doesn't particularly bother anyone else.

Actually, for me, this gag is getting old fast. Nabiki, whatever version of the character you subscribe to, is clever enough to have picked up on two things by now:

1.) No one else is at all bothered by ursa-Ranma. They just treat him as Ranma in a bear suit.

2.) Ursa-Ranma doesn't behave like a real bear. He behaves as if he's Ranma in a bear suit. Such as waiting to use the water closet rather than going in a corner somewhere.

IMO, while Nabiki would reasonably still be hestitant and skittish, she should at least be beyond the panic stage by now.

Assuming of course that there is not some additional reason behind the behavior yet to be shown.

Of course! She had a run in with Pedobear and barely escaped as a child!

Clearly bears are smarter than we gave them credit for.

Don't forget <a href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojtek_%28soldier_bear%29' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Wojtek</a>.

That is the kind of crazy ass shit you just can't make up the first time. It simply has to be real to even make any kind of sense. Also, I totally lol every time Nabiki and the bear show up. It's hilarious. But since hater's gonna hate, don't forget to grow the joke eventually.

I'm compelled to point out that this bear was dumb enough to get trapped in a skateboard park in the first place, and had to have some humans save it by throwing down a ladder. Which is only a portable tree sans leaves, and bears climbing trees is not new.

That said, just because he's no Yogi doesn't dim my appreciation of the "smarter than the average bear" of my formative years. ^_^

In any case Raa, I'm looking forward to how you resolve the Shampoo/Akane match.

i suggested he have Shampoo weave in between each and every strike Akane attempts, only to poke her in the forehead, with a slowly widening grin on her face. And then when Akane eventually gives up, she would say something like, "If you think I'm good, Ranma makes me look like an untrained child."

That's the thing about phobia. They don't necessarily make sense. :sisi:

You are quite correct: fears don't have to be rational.

That said, torment:

Hehe, I bet Nabiki wants Akane to throw the fight because she doesn't want the bear hanging around.

Also, I'm seeing a bunch of those funky black diamond symbols. Again. Or still. Whichever.

Odd.

It's some sort of encoding thing. I've fiddled with the settings, but I don't know if that'll make any difference in future.
