Magna Carta is one heck of a game, but requires getting used to. The art is top notch though - while it's true that most males are borderline traps (I'm looking at YOU, Azel!), the women are so obviously womanly you can't possibly confuse men and women. Simply put, if it lacks nosebleed-inducing curves, it's male.

Chrono Cross would've been a better game if it wasn't hard-shoveled in as a sequel - or even remotely related - to Chrono Trigger.

It had many good points, but as far as the story, much of the bad in the game was due to its forced relation to Trigger.

I'd still recommend any of the Namco "Tales of" games, but Tales of Destiny was not especially good. I hear there's a remake, and I'd like to find out how/if it's improved. The Tales games that feature artwork by Fujishima Kosuke tend to be the better lot, in my estimation.

Fire Emblem: Sword of Fire (the GBA one) is pretty awesome - that, and it's got a story that makes me giggle with glee every time I play it.

Hard Mode in that game deserves the tag "hard" too, if you're a perfectionist who refuses to let any characters die (like I do)

So, if you lack a GBA and the game... emulation is the way to go. I really liked FE:SoF (aka Rekka no Ken).

Agreed. Chrono Cross woulda been a good game if they weren't trying so so hrd to sell it as a sequel to Trigger. Had excellent soundtrack and the graphics weren't bad. I still get a WTF reaction over the method (and ease) of getting the best ending.

Have no suggestions myself, as everything I might bring up has already been nabbed by someone else.

Ah yes, Azel. Physically, I'd compare him to Haku. Then after I got use to using him, I got his first voiced dialog and was floored at his voice. He sounds completely and utter male. Confusing as hell when trying to determine the real gender, at least to me.

The one game I hoped to see on this thread hasn't been mentioned yet. That game is Planescape:Torment for the PC.

No Xenogears? come on, I know that a number of thing in the game were disapointing ,but it still has one of the best story in gaming history.

Also, I second Pridefall in his praise for Saga Frontier I and II. Both games have an interesting and unique gameplay that set them apart from mainstream RPG, and the 2nd's story isn't half-bad. Maybe they aren't for everyone , but both game deserves a try.

For the same reason, I suggest Dragon Quarter, the last Breath of Fire and my favorite of the series.

Also mentioned above, Shining Force 1 and 2 are classics.

FF5's Battle System gets great after say 10 hours in various jobs.

Dragon Warrior 3 is the one that started it all for me.

Phantasy Star 4 was great, too.
