@shout27: my personal gripe with everything after 7 was a lack of the ability to pick a romantic subplot you want to stick with. Linear? Well, yeah, that too. Of course, I'm still waiting for an RPG to pick up clues from 'Way of the Samurai' and use the Choose Your Own Adventure style of branching plotlines. I wanted Squall/Quistis (because she'd have mocked him out of that excessively emo attitude, which would have been a sight) and Tidus/Lulu (which hasn't even been done well in fanfic, if at all, fer crying out loud).
@trevelyan1983: No, you're not dreaming. I'll be coming back to this in a more serious way once I finish XII, which ... usually would have already happened, but I was waylaid by the holidays and working on Second Scroll, which I was working on, got blocked on, got back into again ... eh. Yeah.
@GH: AC failed on the game mechanics/narrative crossroad. My own gripe with it was the lack of presented momentum where the swordfighting is concerned. For all the size of the thing, Cloud looks like he's waving around plastic props and not BASwords. That's something Last Order did better. And Bahamut SIN will never reach the sheer badassedness that is Bahamut Zero (no subsequent Bahamut can). Orbital strike for the win.
@Liam-don: That isn't Tifa. That's Rinoa trying to act. Badly.
