It's Cloud, in a whole new world full of new asses to kick. How could it goes bad?

just watched Last Order and i was wondering if anything was released as to why Cloud was so buffed up against Seph before he was "enhanced" by Hojo?
Cloud is naturally badass. If anything, he was powered down in Last order compared to the game.

From what I'd heard (Haven't got 12 yet) but I've been told they took the FFTA laws and bastardized them into the liscense system
Not really, SotF - it's more like a simpler version of the Shere Grid, in that you buy yourself abilities in a shop, then buy the capacity to use them. The same goes for Magic, Weaponry and Armour. How that comes anywhere the Law system, I don't know. :hmm:

Maybe someone got confused by the fact that there are Judges in both games? :huh.:
It's been anounced that the FFXII world is the same as the FFTA world during the creation of them

Fixed for you. -_-
He's got issues, that for sure. But he was pussyfied horribly in AC. At the end of FF7 , Cloud wasn't angsting about Aerith's death. Yeah, he felt guilty, but he wasn't the dark brooding type. That was Vincent.

Advent Children was a horrific pile of steaming donkey crap. It pussified not only Cloud, but Bahamut as well - the God of Dragons isn't losing to some punk with NO MATERIA equipped (remember itwas stolen) and their basic weapon.

Oh, and it made everyone but Cloud a jobber who's only there to make Cloud look OMG BAD AZZ.

yeah, they could have spread the love. Cloud is cool and all, but it's not like he's alone in this. Also the guy who made the First Tsurugi need to hang.

But some good things came out of it. the Turks at the exit of the tunnel were cool. The fights were good too.

And, well:

Sorry , my inner fanboy took over.

more than usually, anyway.

@shout27: my personal gripe with everything after 7 was a lack of the ability to pick a romantic subplot you want to stick with. Linear? Well, yeah, that too. Of course, I'm still waiting for an RPG to pick up clues from 'Way of the Samurai' and use the Choose Your Own Adventure style of branching plotlines. I wanted Squall/Quistis (because she'd have mocked him out of that excessively emo attitude, which would have been a sight) and Tidus/Lulu (which hasn't even been done well in fanfic, if at all, fer crying out loud).

@trevelyan1983: No, you're not dreaming. I'll be coming back to this in a more serious way once I finish XII, which ... usually would have already happened, but I was waylaid by the holidays and working on Second Scroll, which I was working on, got blocked on, got back into again ... eh. Yeah.

@GH: AC failed on the game mechanics/narrative crossroad. My own gripe with it was the lack of presented momentum where the swordfighting is concerned. For all the size of the thing, Cloud looks like he's waving around plastic props and not BASwords. That's something Last Order did better. And Bahamut SIN will never reach the sheer badassedness that is Bahamut Zero (no subsequent Bahamut can). Orbital strike for the win.

@Liam-don: That isn't Tifa. That's Rinoa trying to act. Badly.

IIRC,the character design of both Rinoa and Dagger were copies of Tifa's, so it's a given that they look alike. If we are talking about the role she played the movie, it was fine until she was pawned by unknown Bishounen #3. After that, she turns into a pom-pom girl, like everyone else.

If you want somewhat CYOA games, try Star Ocean 2 and/or Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth.

SO2 has variable pairings that heavily depend on your actions towards the characters in the game and the PAs you choose to do. They don't affect the main ending per se, but they DO affect the secondary endings where the characters pair up (or remain alone like dogs).

And yes, you can set up yaoi couples too, for shits and giggles.

As for Hoshigami, there's only one ending, but multiple ways of reaching it. Depending on your actions you may or may not fight the true end boss.

Oh, yeah!

METAL SAGA.

That game is completely open ended. You can do whatever you want whenever you want, you can marry at least three different girls, and depending on when you decide to end your adventures, there's at least 9 endings.

And TANKS. Tanks are badass.

Heh, I'm not the only fan of those pairings, nifty. I felt Quistis got shafted in the romance department. Another reason to consider Squall a loser I suppose. Quistis does all sortsa stuff early in the game to let Squall know she likes him and to try to get him to open up more and stuff and he shrugs the shit off like Akane's temper shrugs off rational thought. Rinoa shows up outta nowhere and (suddenly) he can't live without her. And Ten has some interaction with Lulu in it that seems to hint/build up some Tidus/Lulu but the games FMV and whatnot just toss it out the window no matter how little interaction or what answers you give to Yuna. Disappointing. At least in 7 you could control who goes on the date for gold Saucer (even Barret! Have yet to play through to get that one, someday....Cloud/Yuffie is hard for me to turn down)

And agreed, the Tifa in AC looked/seemed more like a Rinow that'd taken some karate lessons than Tifa from the end of 7.

GH, the problem with the openness of SO2 is that perfectionists like myself want to get ALL the endings. I've only seen 20 or so myself, and IIRC theres 82 of the suckers. Nothing ta do with this thread, but who's your favorite to shackle Claude to?

Re: FFVIII. Mm. That was all sorts of WTF? I mean, the guy drops a compassionate, funny, _capable_ and interested leggy blonde who wouldn't look out of place in the opening scenes of a 'hot for teacher' pr0n vid for ... Rinoa, who plays at being a revolutionary to spite daddy dearest. Ineptly at that. Cue the blinkage and the shaking of the head in disgust. What's worse, I've only seen one relatively decent Squall/Quistis story out there, and that was one where the AU has him taking Seifer's place in the storyline.

As for X ... eh. There's not even any decent fiction, or there wasn't last I checked, for Tidus/Lulu. There's all of _one_ decent Tidus/Rikku piece, Al Bhed Blue, and ... zip. No more.

It grates and annoys.

I saw all 86 (not 82), although it took five solid months of play and lots of strategic saves.

For Claude pairings, I like Opera, followed by Chisato. Claude/Dias is also an interesting rivals/friends pairing. For secondary ones... I like Opera/Dias (funny) and Bowman/Chisato. Ashton/Celine is also amusing.

Liked Opera myself, never could get Chisato that high for pairings :headbanger: Celine isn't bad IMO. Mighta liked Precis but the VA sounded more like a really small and annoying child.

And 86? Yeesh. Starting to think I should forget perfection and move on to getting the different endings for SO3, theres less of those at least AFAIK.

Anyone ever have Ashton paired with a mini-barrel? You all know thats his one true love.

What FF8 story is that? I love the idea of Squall/Quistis.

SO3 only has pairings for Fayt. You can't play hooky with the others.

Adray's 'pairing' actually has him try to arrange an omiai with his daughter for Fayt, and Clair reacts by beating the Hell out of Adray, although you should note she wasn't angry at the idea of having Fayt engaged to her, but at the fact Adray was doing it behind her back.
