I don't think it's a question of strength so much as skill with a sword. Naruto doesn't have Sasuke's skill using a blade so the animators made that clear visually.

They might still have stats even without a battle system, but Shikadai's comment about not finding a user for it suggests there IS a battle system

As of Episode 4 I can safely say that Boruto is starting to grow on me. The battle of the sexes turned out to be more fun than I expected giving some of the anime only Ninja's a chance to show what they can do. It also, twice, had Boruto being willing to abandon the contest to save another person. First was with Denki (poor boy surrounded by angry girls) who told Bolt to leave him...and even then two of Bolts friends had to grab the blonde and make him leave. The second was with Cho Cho who was accidentally put in peril due to Bolt's summon, and with no hesitation he moved to save her...despite victory being within his grasp...I also liked that his two friends backed him up during that rescue. I also like that Bolt acknowledged his teams loss fairly graciously...though the girls let the boys off the hook since they did save Cho Cho.

Overall a fun outing.

Sasuke: I see where this is going....well I can't fight it so I might as well make sure Bolt's capable of protecting my daughter.

Her surname is apparently a normal surname meaning "of Izu", a Japanese locality (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Izu_Province?wprov=sfla1 )
How is tied to cats and wasabi, I don't know.
