Not to poke the rabid masses with a stick, but it seems as though the previous clusterfuck diverted the forum's attention from the OP's rather important problem; that being that new registrations are still not being allowed.
That means the forum is still basically on a death counter, doomed to agonize for months until the lack of new registrations finally kills it.

Yeah, because before Hawk shut down registrations, we were well-known for the massive influx of clever, witty, talkative newfags who could debate like geniuses, laugh like madmen, and write like fiends.
Don't get me wrong. I think it's a dumbass move on Hawk's part, and I wish he would undo it. That being said, I think you're standing too close to some kind of exhaust port of some sort if you think it's going to 'kill' the forum. Let's be honest here. It's been the same thirty or so of us the whole time. We did get a steady trickle of new members, but out of that, we would only once in a blue moon get somebody who was both not a few-post wonder and also a decent contributor to the forum.

Aside from oddities like zeebee who's been around since 2005 and who I must assume has already fused with his computer in some sort of machine-flesh singularity, or Heinz, who's just flat out a machine, period, you'll note that this forum has been consistently (if slowly) shedding older members and replacing them with new ones. Anyone remember Zeni? Israfel? Hawk himself? All of them left and were replaced by uh, us (which is not... necessarily... the best argument I've ever made. x.X).
But sure, we don't have the kind of turnover much larger communities have. And I was exaggerating about the whole thing being on a death counter of a few months. But it is an issue. And one we shouldn't dismiss. I don't know, maybe Hawk was just drunk when he nuked registrations, and with any luck if we keep this on the table he can be assed to click the unlock button and go back to killing his remaining brain cells with more liquour.
EDIT: And I think the idea that newfags don't matter because they rarely post is disingenious. At least from personal experience, it took a few months' worth of lurking before I started posting with any regularity. And honestly? That's how it should be. It's better off if newly registered people take their time to start posting. Even if we lose some 75% of them in the process, the remaining 25% will know not to vomit on their keyboard the first thing that comes to mind (unless they're in the Naruto section

It is not really that anyone is disagreeing, nor is it that we are dismissing it, but with Hawk the site owner, and registration closed by him thus locking down the forum... there is absolutely nothing that can be done by us as normal members. it is for all intents and purposes a dead issue.

I am not really a machine (of all the things i've been called over the years... I like 'The Sentient Fanfic Search Engine mk II' best).
It is not that they do not matter, per se, nor that they are a drain on bandwidth... but a person whom stays lurking and does not post might as well be a nonmember, since they are not really contributing to the forum...
My one gripe in relation to lurkers is everyone states how huge we are, but it is not near as big (even if still big), when you subtract the 7800 or so members that are non-contributors. And a large portion of the remainder only have a small handful of posts.
