A rec from GB's in flight forum, as a Deus Ex fan I had a stupid amount of fun with it. More of a fusion than crossover

Adam Jensen finds himself in a time only dreamed of in vids, humanity is now part of a great galactic community that fears synthetics, and he struggles to find his place within it.

Nope the various Japanese liberation fronts including Kallen and her group are still doing what they were at the start of the series. Really we're like at somewhere between episode 1 or 2 at this point, and Leloch hasn't even met C.C. yet. Although that's likely to change very soon.
Wait, what? So what's been going on for the past 30 chapter!? The more people talk the less I feel like reading this fic!
Please understand that LoB has nothing to do with Japan (or area 11) for a good 30 chapters or so. Its all about Lelouche being a Magnificent Bastard.

As for the Black Knights? Nope, they aren't what you expect them to be. You see, with Lelouch being IN the royal family, he has no reason to repeat canon events. Which means a HUGE de-rail from waaay before episode 1.

In some ways, you can think of this as a really good original story set in the Code Geass universe. Though, with the last of any kind of Geass so far, I'm wondering if it will make an appearance at all. Still a damn good story - if nothing else, than for the battle-scenes.

-chronodekar
Geass is definitely coming, I don't know how you missed the huge signs of that in the recent chapter.

Anyways, this fic is good. It does its world building really well and the deviations from canon are well explained.

Additionally, a good thing about the fic is that it expands on the minor characters while keeping almost every character within character.

You still have a recognizable royal family, flaws and all, slightly modified with the continued relationship with Lelouch. Schneizel is still a scheming bastard with 10 different masks, Clovis is still a poof with a power complex and love for family, and Cornelia is still a rash and brilliant knightmare commander. Upside to this is that Suzaku is less of a crazy asshole because he isn't a main focus.

Villeta Nu is more than a brown trophy for Ogi. Karen is ... well, she is still the same as is the rest of the student council other than Milly. Milly changed for the better.

You also have ascended extras and the story is about to reach a tipping point as of this current chapter.

It does take a bit of time for it to get going but it is loads better than the other well-known Prince Lelouch fic: Dauntless. It is superior is every way to that fic except humor and length. Dauntless has it beat with more funny moments. Other than that, LoB beats Dauntless like a Heavyweight boxer would beat a middleweight.

This has my vote as well, but the description needs to be fleshed out.

Simply put, its written like a detective story. And I like it for that. Due to complications, Adam Jenson begins the plot working for C-Sec. His partner is Garrus and they are one bad-ass team.

Remember the first meeting with Tali? That comes up as a case. It isn't the same however, things are different, fresh and exciting.

A little later on, due to political trouble, Jenson & Garrus are forced to leave C-Sec "on extended leave". It appears that the author is going to "stop at the stations of canon", but is going about it in a very different manner.

Canon ME was about a military veteran who goes on to save the galaxy. This story is about a pair of detectives unraveling a well-hidden galactic plot (it may be the canon plot, but the presentation is VERY unique).

@shiki,
I haven't read the latest 2 or 5 chapter of LoB. Have put it on my "should I or should I not?" list after Zero's introduction. I'll get to it eventually, but there wasn't much hint of Geass upto that point. Its still a story on my recommendation list.

A good summary would be wait a year for a small update. Repeat process until the author gets bored.

Human Revolution's good (when Ignus stays out of overly fantasy-style writing, how great Hein is and how women are obsessed with Jensen) but it has a lot of references. Fortunately you don't really need to know what game is being referenced to continue the story, but it gets distracting.

Edit.
Speaking of Mass Effect fanfics, does anyone have all three ME games and experience putting videos up online? Random Equinox is wary of putting Origin on their computer to play ME 3. I tried doing it myself, but sadly my PS3 is one of the ones that can't get saves to import from ME 1 to ME 2 (and they took away some of my downloadable content).

If I remember correctly, ME-1 was never released on the PS3 to begin with, so I'm not sure what you are talking about, when you say "importing saves".

They released all three games for the PS3 as a Trilogy last December (and ME 1's also available on PSN).

News to me. But then, your problem seems bizarre. You can't import the save game? Or is this somehow a limitation of your PS3 model? Which, if true, makes this really baffling.

From what I've heard, this seems like a problem with the trilogy itself. I recall hearing of similar problems on the PC version as well, so it might not be the hardware.

Presently on EA's Answer forum (which is really just a forum for fans to give advice to each other that Bioware pretended was an official tech support forum - don't trust Bioware ever) it's mostly PS3 users who are having the problem. I've seen a few PC users have it, but apparently by clicking on a few files they tend to get the problem solved quickly. I've heard a theory that the ME 1 save file is hidden somehow (I can't even start a new game for ME 1 with a finished character from ME 1) but I don't know the specifics.
I wouldn't even bring this up except that Random Equinox's fic is possibly the only fanfic novelization I actually like, so I'd like to see them get the material they need.

Keeping this on track, Yosuke's Paradiso by Moczo. To be honest it's not as good as Chaos Theory or Uninvited Guests but there are good lines and a plot that generally amuses.

I'm not really sure where to put this so it's going here!

Fairy Dance of Death, a SAO fanfiction with the premise: what if Kayaba's Big Plan was to trap everybody in Alfheim, instead of Aincraid? It exploded into inter-game-race warfare pretty much from the word go.

Anyway I think the main character of the first arc was Argo the Info Dealer, strictly considering how many times she drove the plot in a heroic direction.

Klein is also a strong contender for the title of "First Arc Main Character", on account of his whole pack of friends thinking it would be pretty neat if each of them was a different game race and they built a guild out of that, so they picked different races, and then death game, but Klein built his guild basically out of guts and Power of Friendship anyway, and now he's a role model! And Alto is aggressively pursuing him.

Oh yeah, a bunch of peeps from later arcs in the light novels were added to expand the cast of characters.

Kirito hasn't actually been all that important--but every time we've seen him (usually running errands for Argo) he's been level grinding his pants off, so he'll probably overwhelmingly regain the title of Main Character in the future by dint of having the Biggest Numbers.

the first arch is already done, but damn is it good. One thing about the last chapter that I picked up on, the look Argo gives him and how Kirito reacts afterwords. I speculate he's gonna be forced to take command of the Spriggans.

I'm usually the one lurking about the thread for stuff, but I was surprised no one mentioned this Adam Kadmon story: Of Steel.

It's a solid, serious take on of Girlfriend of Steel and is pretty much the Mana story of Mana stories in my opinion. Interestingly enough, the character usually serves as a foil in a lot of his work but I know folks have been waiting for her to be featured in a good story for a really long time.

It's up to five chapters now, and I believe the next chapter will be the finale.

Can anyone recommend me any good Eyeshield 21 fics? I've been rereading the series and the only good thing I can find is Hard Work a 2000 word oneshot. Like, 98% of the fandom is slash, 1% is Hiruma/Mamori, and the rest is impossible to find.

It's been years since I've even looked. I remember an especially good one where Sena was popular with the ladies because he was the only one who wouldn't treat them like eye candy. And there are a lot of ladies when you bring the cheerleaders along.

I think this is it.

Shopping by F.A. Star Hawk.

The Team Japan cheerleaders want to go shopping in New York and are convinced that there's no real point in going if they can't get a guy's opinion on things. Guess who's the lucky guy who gets chosen to join them.

Since the Naruto Recommended Reading thread now full of people just sniping at each other rather than actual recommendations, in order not to lose this to the layers of drivel I'm recommending this again here.

Minato stays with Naruto in spirit form and watches over him as he grows up. Adorable.

Do the individual posts ever get any longer?

Because I was having a horrific time trying to read it in 6 line chunks.

Yes, they can be longer. Depends on what's happening before next vote of course. If it's a matter of finding Deculture's posts, just put the name in page search.

What did you expect anyway? It's a Quest.

Henkou updated recently and it is still pretty good. Plays on the coma theory in Pokemon explaining why Ash never ages.

It is different from other fics of this nature by having to actually deal with the world. He doesn't automatically make friends with people that you would expect and he doesn't try to force the world into what he remembers.

Slow going but very intriguing.
