Here is a purely romance fic that I was just reminded of. Summary taken from the Portkey version of the story (It's a better one than FF.net's).

The Light
Summary: All seven Horcurxes are destroyed and Voldemort was defeated two years ago. However, a small band of death eaters claim Ginny and Ron Weasley's lives setting Harry and Hermione into a year of sadness and self-healing. A year after their senseless deaths Harry is still struggling with trying to create a life for himself and realizes he needs Hermione's help. On the flip side, Ron and Ginny are watching, waiting and trying to help the two of them make the best decisions they can, without physically interfering. *This story also has Draco, Ginny and a bit of Ron, in it; they parallel Harry and Hermione.

Pretty much the best HP fic I've ever read.

Maybe even the best fanfic, period.
If it isn't, I have yet to find a better one.
That's what happens when a semi-pro writer takes a shot at writing fanfic. ^_^

The only H/Hr fics I like are ones that don't even attempt to comply to canon and never did. Attempting to work this relationship into canon, is to me, a complete and utter exercise in futility, which is doomed from before inception.

That said, Bobmin's "Wizards Fall" series has been brought up already. I'll put in a vote for the "Paradigm of Uncertainty" series, by Lori.

Here's her Schnoogle page: Lori

That's about all the ones I can tolerate.

I like the Paradigm series... until it continued beyond the wedding.

It felt contrived after that.

It's at least a Lime story, but Harry Potter and the Sword of Gryffindor is an entertaining H/Hr story.

Sorry if its inappropriate to post it outside the Lemon section, but I have a very vague sense of where the boundaries go for these things ... damn you, porn, for making me desensitised to sexual situations!

EDIT: Strike that, it's definitely lemon, so I'm deleting the link ... though now that everyone had seen the name, there's little that can be done to stop you from finding it by other means ...

Also, haha:

Resuscitation of AgapÚ

Side note: AgapÚ goes crappy towards the end, but the hook of it amuses me enough to have read it all.
I'm greatly amused to see this one brought up.

Some interesting stories:

You Have Always Believed Me by funvince. Very short, but nice. Also, the one-shot 'Hermione's Change' is enjoyable as well.

Unsung Hero. One of those stories where Harry's twin is the boy who lived, and he's a Slytherin. This one's nice.

Yet another Sibling-Who-Lived Fic. Exactly what the title says. It's well written, but unfortunately abandoned.

If you like long stories, then Harry Potter and The Three Travellers may be for you. Currently my favourite long H/Hr story that I can think of right now.

Harry Potter and the Color of Magic is a nice crossover with the Discworld, but the H/Hr element is miniscule.

Same with Holding Court, which IIRC is H/Hr, but I don't remember if Hermione even gets any lines in this one. Oh well, it's still a great story, from what I remember of it. :p

Author: Chem Prof. Soul Searching/End Game is great. Although there is a minor H/G element that leads End Game to end with three separate endings...

If you're more interested in the pairing than the setting/plot, then Portkey is probably where you want to go. By which I mean half of the stories are basically one shots where the interesting parts of the HP world are completely ignored in favour of romance. Some of the better stories from portkey:

Author: Stoneheart. Stories tend to be more romance.

Author: Jardyn. Has a unique writing style. Plus, some nice long stories as well!

Author: Canoncansodoff. Warning, this author has a story that is definitely at least a high R rating, so I decided not to put the actual link here.

Author: uvagirl. Some high-rating stories. Mostly humor, fun to read.

Epiphanies, by romulus lupin. This is one of the older ones (note the story ID#), and is heavily romance.

Author: fenriswolf. Sorry for the lack of link, but I'm too lazy to track this one down because I don't have a direct link to his profile, and his Yahoo Group has at least one story that isn't on his Portkey profile.

Also, here is Portkey's recomendation list, sorted in descending order by word length. Suggested stories from the list:
Acceptance of Fate
Year of Rebellion
Paradise Lost (Read the prequel Trouble in Paradise)
Triumvirate of Resolve
Fifth Element

From page 2:
Secrets, Lies and the Daily Prophet
Orb of Slytherin
A Serpent's Sacrifice

Finally, if you like Vampire stories:
Blood Bound.

... I think that's enough material to last you a few weeks.

Oh poor Lord Geryon *mutters a prayer*

Try not to loose your mind when yr 6 stories start with a paragraph stating off screen killing of Voldemort, just in time for september.

Too many low quality love stories to go through sometimes.

Edit: The author of Yet Another Sibling Who Lived Fic, pstibbons is the most unashamed Hermione fanboy/fangirl/it I have ever seen.

Heres a sample of his/her/it's least ooc writing. An explanation to the inconsistencies in the Harry Potter series

The Writer
Summary: Hermione discovers a new world and an old acquaintance. PostWar HHr oneshot. Delusional Ginny.

Actually, I've noticed a lot of stories there lately share the same premise.

They are Post-DH, with H/G and R/Hr pairings... and Harry and Hermoine always end up having an affair.

And in the smutty stories that show H/Hr being each other's first, they almost always perform like seasoned adults, familiar and experienced with their emotions and bodies.

It make it feel like Portkey is very... formulaic.

You I have a link to that?
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3186836/1/

Pretty much the best HP fic I've ever read.

Maybe even the best fanfic, period.
There's a slightly more explicit version on her webpage. (no link, go find it through her ff.n profile.)

This is one of the few I've made a Mobipocket .prc out of, so I can carry it on my PDA. Highly recommended.

What you're thinking of is The Power by DarthBill.
Summary: Harry has been feeling lethargic since his tenth birthday when suddenly he has more energy than he needs. AU story for all seven years. HarryMulti nothing serious. SmartPowerful!Harry.

The scene is in chapter 21.

I like this story because the author is upfront in how he's writing this, that way I don't have to take it that seriously.

"No, I doubt I'll be in danger of accidental magic this summer." The Grangers, confused, asked what a suppressor was. "I am very powerful. Very very. So powerful, in fact, that I'm nearly omnipotent. So sometimes I suppress my power so's not to have accidents." Using the term 'Omnipotent' was probably a bad idea.

"That's it. I can tolerate Hermione's constant studying of her devilry, but this is ridiculous!" 'Well, that didn't last long.' "God is the only all powerful being in the universe!"

Harry looked down, thoughtful. Jessica thought that he was feeling sorry. After a moment, he said, as though coming upon a realization, "You are right." Jessica was now hopeful that she had saved this poor heathen. "I...must be...God!" Just as soon as he said his last word, he created a beam of light around himself, and looked up into the heavens.

Jessica exploded (not literally), "Oh My God! You are so stupid!"

Harry looked scandalized. "Why you blasphemic -"

"You aren't God!"

Here, Hermione jumped in, though she was having a hard time keeping a straight face. "You heretic!"

Jessica started stomping up to Harry, but her parents were holding her back. Harry started acting as though Hermione was holding him back as well.

Jessica screamed, "I swear if you defile God's name one more -"

"What?! You want to try the Omega? I'll go Old Testament on your ass!"

"Try it! I'll burn you at the stake, you satanic little prick!"

"That's it! You are so freaking smote. You better get ready for an eternity in purgatory. Nothing but daytime TV and pinball!" It was at this point that Harry and Hermione cracked up. Neither could hold in their laughter. The adults were clearly hiding smiles, but trying not to take sides. Jessica just stomped up stairs and locked? herself in her room.

Awesome. Thanks for the link.

The biggest problem with the plotline of so many stories like these is they try to make it sound like it's something epic, when it's really just crap.

DarthBill's plotline isn't any better, but his presentation of it makes it one of the best HP reads I've had in a while. Also, that story he linked in his profile is made of pure lulz.
