Not Vox Corporis, I know about that one.
You I have a link to that?
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3186836/1/

Pretty much the best HP fic I've ever read.

Maybe even the best fanfic, period.
Vox Corporis.

This is he authors version on portkey.org its shall we say....more.....explicit?

Then heres my favorite H/HR

Harry Potter and the Manipulator of Destiny
I have to ask... how is that a good story? Everyone is way OOC, and that's just the beginning of the flaws of the story.

Edit: The author of Yet Another Sibling Who Lived Fic, pstibbons is the most unashamed Hermione fanboy/fangirl/it I have ever seen.
Unfortunately so. And while YASWLF was pretty good, as was The Perfect Azkaban Breakout (a reasonable Harry-in-Azkaban story), the newer story 'The Wrath of the Blacks', though decent, marked his/her downward slide.

Geryon: Have fun wading through the dredges of Portkey. Remember, when in doubt, filter by word count.

With regards to the recent batch of affair fics... it's probably a result of people trying to write the H/Hr ship while trying to stay true to canon, including the stupid epilogue. It probably won't last too long.

I somehow knew that was going to happen. But I didn't feel like believing it.

Just finished reading Vox Corporis. Liked it well enough. Strong characterization, not too much uber-Harry, effort put into helping Harry learn to have family, and to find commitment in a relationship. Many of you would think Harry would be pretty disturbed by his relationships with relatives. There's a name for it: attachment disorder. Its pretty bad, sort of acquired psychopathy. That Harry isn't plagued by this real disorder is a nice thing about his character, and that Tom Riddle suffers from it is rather obvious. Thus the Superman complex of Crime and Punishment, which was a Russian dissertation on Hegel vs Nietzche, expanded out into the battles between Clark Kent and Lex Luthor in the US comic books. One frequently has to be reminded that Harry Potter is a children's story. The adults writing fan fiction for it turn the characters into adults, which is not so unreasonable considering the near death experiences WOULD do that. But then you start veering into catgirl killing territory.

Harry Potter and the Manipulator of Destiny was just another uber-Harry fic. While I liked the list of Dumbledore's sins/crimes in the second chapter (and it was a good and accurate list), the rest of it was well off into poop land and I gave up by the start of chapter 4. Time is too precious to waste reading bad fanfiction when good fanfiction is quite plentiful. I suppose I disliked the Half Blood Prince so much that I've given up on that book and the finale. Considering just how the last HP movie was (very), it leaves off at a good point. Much like many fans of other series like to say: there is only one Highlander Movie, or The First Star Wars was A New Hope.

I've been reading Harry Potter and the Fifth Element. There's uber in there, but I'm enjoying the effort put into him discovering the Muggle side of life and realize just how little he's actually lived. While the Hogwarts/DiagonAlley side of things is wondrous, it doesn't make much sense that Harry is oblivious to the real world, at least as far as the books are concerned. Its not like Harry destroys electronics every time he has a temper tantrum, like Harry Dresden, for instance.

Many of the HP parody stories can be very funny. Some had me laughing for hours, like Make A Wish. If you're going to make Harry Uber anyway, may as well make him snarky and pranksterish. I'll continue filtering through Portkey, and the higher wordcount stories do tend to be better quality, I just wish the authors would show more restraint when it comes to repeating themselves of uberizing Harry over and over.

If nothing else, remember the Catgirls.

Link? I found two fics with same name at ff.net.

Here it's this one. I think.
*Edit* JJ beat it to me, but here's the Portkey version.

Harry Potter and the Fifth Element by Bexis
Summary: Harry's summer and sixth year. Examines H/Hr in context of his unwanted wealth and fame, and her need for independence, requiring them to save one another's lives. H struggles for magical control over a mysterious fifth element, receives an inheritance and finds OC summer romance. Hr knows everything and nothing. The brain encounter changes R. D is dispossessed and vengeful. CC is not what she seems. Featuring H/Hr affinity, Auror training, poor parenting, goblins, kidnapping, death, a crash, a fire, an explosion, bribery, funerals, testimony, battles, tarot, pensieves, and eventually secret marriage, Stonehenge, a succubus, love potion, triads, and Druidism. The war against Voldemort spreads to the Continent and becomes a liberation struggle.

I come with a fic that starts of with the mystery of HBP's OOCness between Hermione and Harry, an adopted daughter, and words from the author: "And remember, her name isn't Herms, Hermy, 'mione or Nee, her name is Hermione... Deal with it.".

Harry Potter and the Lost Demon

FF.net Summary:post HBP. HHr. Harry and Hermione's odd behavior during their 6th year explodes into a maelstrom of chaotic, bitter emotions, caused by a strange 'illness.' Help comes from a young, orphaned girl who is much more than she appears.

On Portkey the same fic is posted as Harry Potter and the Demon's Soul (No link, NC-17 rating).
Portkey Summary: Decidedly AU - During their sixth year, Harry and Hermione drifted apart. Jealousy, indifference and intolerance plagued their relationship until the funeral of their Headmaster. On the train home, Harry suffers from a strange illness and Hermione begins acting erratically, fighting a battle between wanting to punch Harry and wanting to snog him senseless. A mysterious Japanese orphan gets thrust into their lives, whose secrets may hold the key to life, love, and ultimately, the final battle. Excerpt from Ch. 50: ôIÆm not entirely sure,ö answered Harry, not knowing how the cultural difference mattered to their conversation, ôIÆd think itÆs something like 150 years or soà probably similar to just before the muggle industrial revolution.ö ôSo, do you know what orphanages in London were like 150 years ago?ö asked Ragnok pointedly. HarryÆs face fell into a hateful frown as he said, ôWorkhouses? Are you trying to tell me that the orphans at HavershamÆs were forced to work for wizarding businesses? Kotone and the rest of those kids were being used as slave labor?ö ôThatÆs exactly what IÆm telling you, Lord Potter.ö

Harry Potter and the Eye of the Storm

SPOILERS: Books 1 - 5 Contents: PG13
Description: My take on sixth year. Glacially slow, so if you like fast-paced fics this isn't for you. No Mary-Sues or exchange students or long-lost twin sisters...
Published: 16/10/04 Updated: 25/09/07 Status: In Progress
Genre: Drama / None Words: 135544 Chapters: 26 - LATEST

Drama. Lots of it, and fairly realistic too. There is a slow romance, a good change from the 'omglet's shag' fics.

Has anyone recced The Granger Defense by aaran st vines, which is quite astoundingly good ?

Summary:
Everyone knows Muggles are defenseless against Death Eaters - or are they? The action starts days after the end of Harry Potter fifth year at Hogwarts. Dumbledore decides to train a select group of volunteers to become the shining twentieth century versions of Emperor CharlemagneÆs Paladins. The fighting is fierce, and thatÆs before they take on Voldemort and his Death Eaters. New heroes arise, and students come from around the world to join the training. Harry learns he is the heir to the last Spell Monger, and nearly goes to Azkaban because of his inheritance. Will he ever realize just how much his most faithful friend means to him?

A Paladin Parallel Universe story. Post OotP.

A short first year AU, that I very much hope will grow into a full fic:

For Want of a Nail, by Rorschach's Blot. Its Harry/Hermione/Daphne/Tracy/OFC, so far, and quite well written.

Uh, no.

Hermoine and Harry are both OOC, and frankly, stupid. Which neither are.

Eh, honestly, "TGD" isn't bad, but the Ginny story is better and in my opinion, less implausible, especially with the side project idea.

Well, it IS an AU (as in "alternate universe"). And it IS a good story (hope it will be continued) with the original idea (I am referring to the whole pureblood factions thing, IMHO quite believeable).
As for the OOC... I personally disagree, but this is my opinion- nothing more, nothing less.

This was fun to read, Harry and Hermione get together by the process of elimination. Listen to his author notes and DON'T google IT.

Odd Ideas Bin aka Weird Sh Folder Chapter 6
i googled it.... oh god why o why did i do it
I'm no-where near as surprised as I thought I would be. I don't think I've burned out my ability to be shocked by what people will do for sex, but it would take something far more 'out there'. I still wouldn't do that, though.
