"How do I revive Aeris?"

Oh, the Final Attack + Phoenix thing can be thwarted quite easily. Just have the boss be a two-part boss (e.g. those annoying two-headed zombies in the Shinra basement), and have one frequently use an attack that drops your party's MP to 0, while the other side (which is only vulnerable to magic) wallops the hell out of your HP.

Um, last I checked, Final Attack triggers regardless of if you have the MP for the summon or not. It is the reason why it's such a broken ability.

OTOH, it can only trigger for as many times s you can summon - with a mastered Phoenix Materia, that's 5 times.

EDIT: and of course nothing prevents you from going W-Summon - KotR and then continuously mimicking it while you have a HP Steal materia attached to KotR. It basically equals 9999 HP healing every time you mimic it.

There's lots of broken combos that make even your battle easy. The only real way to make it hard is to pull a FF5 Omega and use something like Encircle, perma-removing the other two characters from the battle.

If you don't have the MP for whatever you have attached to Final Attack, your character will try to use that ability, but you'll get an "MP is too low" message, and that's all she wrote.

Had it happen way too many times in the fight vs. Emerald WEAPON, since Emerald has an MP-killing attack. It would hit my summoner with that, then Aire Tam Storm or that stomp attack, and then blargh, dead.

That's also a limitation of it. You can use a mastered Life materia instead, but then it'll only revive the party member equipping it (although it will bring them back to maximum health).

I found it massively broken to use W-Summon + MP Steal and KotR + HP Steal combined. Mimic for the other characters just makes it cheap, even against Emerald.

Knights of the Round is just flat-out broken. Even against Emerald WEAPON.

Like Ruby WEAPON does?

And on a semi-related topic, I found a certain unwholesome pleasure in using Added Effect + Hades with Vincent.

KotR by itself isn't broken per se. It tends to be overkill, yes, but not any more than Omnislash with Ultima Weapon and full HP.

What makes it truly evil is the HP-Steal and MP-Steal materia you can attach to it. It makes the thing just bloody unfair.

The materia system as a whole in FFVII was open to extreme levels of abuse if you knew what to link to what. ;)

Nope, just mod 100 Curaga and junction to HP. You can mod Curaga from Tents, which are easy to come by from early on.
