Harry Potter How do you picture the HP Characters?

Well, based off of the books it sounds like Riddle could have passed for a male model.

This is why I regret watching the movies. My view will be tainted by the actors. I imagine the actors from Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings when I am reading the books.

Still, I do have my own ideas about how the HP characters look, that isn't affected by the movies. Though, oddly enough, Evanna Lynch is EXACTLY how I imagined Luna. Great casting, there.

Give me some time to put my thoughts together.

Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, think this pic pretty much nails these two.

That Sirius looks rather Snape-ish to me, and I'd expect Remus to have a much smaller wand (yes that's a penis metaphor)

Holy shit when did this become a thing.

You guys actually care about my interpretations that much? And here I was doing it just to pass the time.
You didn't think it would be a thing?

Who passes up an opportunity for someone else to do your thinking for you?

And why isn't Ron taller than everyone else? Especially the twins, since they were supposed to be more short and stocky. Although I definitely approve of Luna.

Why is Draco Malfoy drawn as respectable and cool? He should be neither.
Because he's the only son of a wealthy and aristocratic family, and his parents don't seem like the type to tolerate slovenly dress and personal hygiene from their son?

And because, you know, only shallow fools honestly think that unpleasant people have to look disgusting and lame.

:huh.:

The more pertinent question is: why does Draco achieve this through muggle fashion?
Come to think of it, if that's what uniforms look like without the vest or cloak, how come wizards canonically dress horribly when trying to blend in with muggles despite that just about everybody went to Hogwarts?

Augh, PitaTen flashbacks.

@ Vorpal, because it's a uniform. Most people who have to wear a uniform in school will ditch it the moment they don't have to wear it anymore. What we see as contemporary and semi-fashionable casual wear, they see as "Look at me, I still dress like a nun!"

Also, the uniform in the books is pretty much just 'plain work robes (black)', with a pointed hat 'for day wear' and a cloak to throw over it when it gets cold.

I daresay whatever the students choose to wear under those robes is entirely their own business...but I'm betting the 'proper' way to wear robes is to have nothing but shoes and underwear underneath them.

gotta love how the people creating the movies were like 'fuck that, we need the kids to wear normal school uniforms' <_<

Luna.

I saw Super 8 last year, and while it was a good movie, what really stood out to me was Elle Fanning; I found that she's a lot closer to what I'd envisioned Luna Lovegood to look/be like than movie portrayal by Evanna Lynch. Especially with (after some searching) that picture on the right.

You've misunderstood. I never said that Draco shouldn't be clean-cut or neat; it would indeed be out of character for him to look either slovenly or genuinely ugly.

My issue is with him being cool and respectable. Lucius Malfoy is a cool and confident man; it carries over into his outward appearance. Draco, on the other hand, is an unrepentant bully and a cowardly whiner; these people never manage to look cool.

Where Lucius Malfoy is always comfortable in his own skin, Draco is never shown to be; even following a victory, he behaves less like a lion and more like a strutting Bantam rooster.

I think it's more that Draco, as any stupid-rich trust fund baby should, looks the part of a collected respectable gentleman, until he opens his mouth and proves that he is, in point of fact, a poncy twat.

The times we see Draco he is trying to be intimidating and superior, which is hard to do when you consider that he's never really had a victory over his favorite targets. With that in mind, its not unreasonable to believe that amongst his own group he's quite popular, and like any group of popular types in school you are bound to see bullying as you go down the various social stratem.

Getting to the list in a minute, but I want to clarify something first. Draco Malfoy is not handsome or good looking, and he never has been. Rowling has always written him as being as unpleasant looking as he acts, and that's the gospel truth about it. She actually did not approve of the actors for Draco or Hermione, because both of them were, bluntly, just too good looking.

It is entirely true that he should never be dressed slovenly or poorly. That does not, however, mean he must, by definition, also be a handsome young man. He is not, and never has been. He is, at various times, described as 'pinched,' 'sallow,' 'mean looking,' and 'rat-like,' and Harry has noted more than once that Snape and Malfoy look uncommonly similar, minus the hair and hooked nose.

The people that draw and write him as looking like Richie Rich or some sort of wealthy Bishonen import from Japan are either people who saw the movies first and were biased by the actors, or fangirls who squee, and are therefore not to be trusted to be impartial, or intelligent, or sentient beings in general.

It's odd, but I always pictured Lily as being a calmer, green eyed parallel to Kushina Uzumaki
