Well, yes, you could be, but if you wanted to appoint the admins and moderators yourself, I assume you would have just done so. The fact that you didn't (and are even putting the rules for the contest up for discussion) implies that you'd probably rather not be making the judgement yourself.
If someone is in the position where there is evidence that they would be unfit to be a mod, then the sensible way to handle that is to publicise that information and let the people voting decide if it should eliminate them from contention, rather than having you make a judgement on whether their actions would have got them banned and then eliminating them if so.

Sniggers... I doubt the best advertising campaign on the planet could actually manage to get him into that spot.
I actually would prefer he work on some of his stories. I'd rather see them continued.
He may have been a good writer (at least I thought so), but that did not make him best for admin... his track record has pretty much proved it.
Not really a mark against him, considering I've met others like that in life... good as a friend or coworker, but bad as management material.

Well, yeah, suddenly disappearing from a forum without providing any way to allow people to continue it isn't generally a great way to encourage people to pick you next time around....
