Also, I'm probably gonna scrap the whole channeling being genetic thing, even I thought it wasn't that great of an idea. As for Magic being primitive, that was really the only way I could think of for it and the One Power to coexist. I'll probably think of a better solution to that problem, unless you have any ideas?

Actually, in canon, there 'is' a genetic component to channeling. Or at least it's suggested.

Morgase is a channeler (though a weak one) and Elayne is a channeler.

Aviendha and Rand's child is not only a channeler (or will be according to Aviendha's trip through the pillars) but will be an enormously powerful one, channeling since their earliest memories.

There was mention of some Aes Sedai wondering if by gentling all the male channelers, and by none of them having families, they were in fact weeding the ability to channel from humanity.

As for having them both exist, why having them be related at all? There are a number of powers that aren't related to the One Power, Dreaming, the ability to manipulate plants/trees (though only Ogier presently have that power now), Wolfbrothers. Just have Magic be one of those abilities.

Comparing Magic and the One Power is difficult.
Magic seems to have the advantage in versatility, OP has the advantage in raw power and scale.

I haven't had much time to work on this lately. Been dealing with an ill grandmother, but I posted what I had written, only 2 rough scenes, in the previews section, but I've been changing things about it.

Like I said in an earlier post, I moved the start to the end of fourth year in the graveyard. Harry gets hit with the killing curse and meets his mother in the 'other place' from DH, which is really Tel'aran'rhiod. But, because he didn't have the Hollows, he loses his magic when he comes back. Without his magic, he's worse off than he was before, and in his desperation to escape, he channels, and ends up at Hogwarts.

I could be wrong, but in EotW Rand uses a form of Traveling that is like apparition when he appears at those different places.
