HSDK Ideas

I'm wondering if/when we'll get info about Miu's grandmother, aka Hayate's wife.

BTW: The First half of season one Kenichi anime has been released for sale. Seems to have stuck pretty close to the manga.

The anime is based on the precursor/original version of the manga, actually: a 28-chapter run called "Fight! Ryozanpaku, History's Strongest Disciple" (Tatakae! Ryozanpaku, Shijou Saikyou no Deshi)

That was re-made and somewhat retooled into Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi, which is what we currently read as HSDK.

I've seen some of the Kenichi anime on Youtube.....it follows the current HSDK manga. Almost to a letter. It ends after the Ragnorok thing though (aften Kenichi beats Odin).

Unless you guys are talking about something else

Agreed...

To my knowledge, there is only the one anime series, and also to my knowledge, it follows the mainline 'History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi' manga to the end of the Ragnarock arc fighting Odin, not the older 'Historys Strongest Disciple'.

Considering the proto-series had the proto-Berserker as the boss it's a bit obvious which one the anime followed.

Quite notable in that Kenichi has a somewhat different mindset when it comes to fighting. :D

337 is up. It's interesting. We see one of the unrevealed masters of Yami for the first time: he's an older-looking man with a pretty long beard, wearing what looks like a toga. His name is apparently Cyril Rahman. He is possibly Indian.

Chikage took too long, and the job of killing Kenichi has been reassigned to that new master's disciple ("shishir" is the term he uses). He doesn't say who it is, but Ethan Stanley is in most of the rest of the chapter, and it ends with Ethan and Kenichi in a tea shop about to hold a significant conversation. The tea shop is named "Boston Tea Party".

Pretty good stuff in 338. We get to see Rachel Stanley (Castor) in confinement and learn from Kajima that she's now under the One Shadow's "protection" due to the capture of Diego Carlo. We also learn a bit of Rachel's character from her younger brother; as long as Rachel gets her fill of attention, she doesn't care what happens to the rest of humanity. Which, I reckon, means she picked well when she chose to be a luchadora.

Ethan Stanley (Pollux) comes across as a fairly interesting character. 337 revealed, through Cyril Rahman, that not all members of Yami are totally committed to satsujin-ken; and now someone in YOMI is shown to have the same opinions. It doesn't take much to guess that they're connected. Though it's not said explicitly, it's pretty well certain that Cyril Rahman is Ethan Stanley's master. We get a glimpse of Ethan in action, and Kenichi doesn't recognize any of Ethan's movements. The style is still unnamed.

Hate to be a killjoy, but shouldn't this sort of talk be in the What manga are you reading thread? Or maybe a HSDK Talk thread could be made. This thread is meant for ideas after all.

#85
I don't really see a gain; it's not as if this thread is high in traffic. You're probably right, technically, but more threads just means more clutter.

You know, one thing I've been thinking about lately, Honoka in her appearances seems to be getting *younger* from when she was originally introduced. Compare how she looked in chapter 15 (c15 pg15, bottom left) with how she looks now in chapter 339 (c339, pg15, bottom right); to me, that's a significant difference in appearances. Honoka was introduced as being three years younger than Ken'ichi, meaning that she should now be in her second year of junior high since Ken'ichi is in his second year of high school. But she sure looks (in my eyes) like her age has been dialed back an extra year, maybe two or even three.

And now look at her design here (c277, pg11), which is basically how she is depicted currently. It's a big regression (well, I think so) from how she was originally drawn. And I don't really like that.

I spent too much time (any time at all is too much) doing the mass calculations for staffs Freya might use to train with, for a random idea that Freya might seek extra jo (staff) training from Shigure, in order to become a master-class jojutsu user. She is currently an instructor.

Anyway...

An all-aluminum jo would weigh a bit over seven and a half pounds. An all-iron jo would weigh about 22 pounds. And an all-iridium jo would weigh about 63 pounds.

This assumes a 128cm (50.4") length [height], which is fairly standard, and a 1.4" width [~3.6cm diameter, half that for radius].

This idea would probably have Freya at Ryouzanpaku a lot, since she is getting training from Shigure.

Edit: supporting evidence
Length: 128cm
Width: 3.556cm (radius = 1.778cm)

Volume of cylinder: Pi*[r-squared]*Há (Pi * [1.778]-squared * 128)

Densities:
Aluminum: 2.7 grams per cubic centimeter
Iron: 7.8 grams per cubic centimeter
Iridium: 22.4 grams per cubic centimeter

Pi shall be 3.141

R-squared here shall be 3.161

3.141*3.161*128 = 1270.874 cubic centimeters

Right then, some of the ideas that I had when I read that Kosaka's Warmth drabble/snippet thing.

These are not necessarily related to each other, or indeed reality. Or have any originality.

1) For some reason, I add Shigure in to Type K. Not entirely sure where she comes into play, but she certainly has what Keitaro is looking for in a girl.

Tits, heartbeat, might be able to teach him a fighting technique.

Rubbish, I know, but I wanted some opinions on that idea.

After all, if it's not going to be funny, then I'll ignore that idea.

2) Shigure is a rival to Motoko/Tsuruko.

It's something that could work in with Type K, if I have Shigure not being a part of Ryozanpaku.

I have no idea if it'll actually work as a fic, but it's something that occurred to me.

3) An AU where instead of being their disciple, Kenichi is under the care of the Ryozanpaku masters.

Will have elements of the comedy psychopath, especially if/when Kenichi goes on a camping trip with Shigure.

4) Generic idea where Ranma is engaged to Shigure and she comes to Nerima looking for her fiancÚ.

5) Kensei Ma decides to have a little fun and suggests that Kenichi can't possible progress to the next level if he's got that much pent up frustration.

I think you can see where this is going. If not, then you need to clean your glasses.

If that's still not clear: Kensei Ma ends up filming/photographing Kenichi and Miu and/or Shigure having sex.

And that's about all I can think of right now, but that's not to say I won't have some other terrible ideas in the future.

#1 and #4 interest me... not so much so the rest.

For #1... that could even work... we know Shiguire goes out on outings of her own... we do not know everything she gets up to in them, only some.

#4 would be hard to pull off though unless you wrote up a backstory to account for an engagement and both take into account her known background and her knowing about it to sek him out.

#91
I'm not sure that I like any of those, to be honest. #3 seems the least basic, but how would it be pulled off?

I'd prefer #5, though add Rukia and Rachel for a bit of fun.

I see what you're doing here - use evil magics to read my mind and talk up the idea I like the best while suggesting that I can't possibly pull it off.

Well, I've got some good news and bad, people.

I've got some time off work and I might just have to see what we can see here.

Though, I must admit that I'm tempted to try writing a Shigure/Keitaro crossover fic.

Mainly because, while Shigure likes Kenichi, it's clear that Kenichi only has eyes for Miu and anyone with more sense than a teenager can see that Miu has some feelings for Kenichi.

And if I don't think that the Elder is going to let anyone hurt his granddaughter.

Cold actually be a reawson to do it... if they got kicked out for their actions, that could be an interesting story.

Personally... I'm still convinced Miu is stronest disciple and Kenichi is their patsy.

I don't know that I agree. Not as of the end of the fight with Ethan and especially not given Sakaki's comments in 351. She may still be more agile and overall skilled than Ken, given that she's had years more of training, but I think he's probably got a high advantage in raw strength by this point, if he hadn't had it already. The repeated comparison that surrounds Miu is that she is like a bird: light, fine, agile, quick.

In any case, he's learned things she can't do (Seikuken, Ryusui Seikuken), and she seemed to be outright amazed at the amount of power he has. Kushinada Chikage was certainly outright shocked by it.

Chapter 351 ended the Ethan Stanley arc; he's off to India for retraining under his master, Cyril Rahman.

Chapter 352 will begin a new arc. I'm hoping that either it will have Tirawit Koukin's reappearance, so that we can learn his master's name; or that it will center around the Yami-YOMI master-disciple pair about which nothing significant has been revealed: not the style, not the master's identity nor the disciple's identity. IIRC, the only thing known about that pair is that their challenge-symbol is "Moon".

Another possibility is that we'll see the fruits of Ogata Isshinsai's training of the three shadowed figures shown here in chapter 344. The central silhouette has been speculated to be the former Second Fist of Ragnarok, Berserker.

The YOMI run-down so far:
* Radin Tidat Jihan [Pencak Silat]. Presumed to have been killed by his own master for being a "failure".
* Kanou Shou [Karate]. Defeated by Kenichi. Died protecting Miu.
* Boris Ivanov [Command S.A.M.B.O]. Defeated by Kenichi. Disappeared after his master dismissed him. Presumably still searching for his imprisoned master.
* Tirawit Koukin [Muay Thai]. Defeated and "killed" Kenichi. Disappeared.
* Rachel Stanley [Lucha libre]. Defeated by Ma Renka. Master imprisoned. Now seemingly under Ryouzanpaku's protection.
* Kushinada Chikage [Jujutsu]. Relieved of task to kill Kenichi.
* Ethan Stanley [Kalarippayattu]. Defeated by Kenichi. Parted on good terms with Ken.

Remaining YOMI members:
- Three shadowed disciples of Ogata Isshinsai. One may be Berserker.
- Unknown user of unknown style with unknown master. Symbol, "Moon"
- Tirawit Koukin
- Kajima Satomi, YOMI leader, disciple of Fuurinji Saiga.

Idea (Be warned, the premise for this is pretty much closed romance/humor):

Kenichi really likes Miu, but seeing as he's still quite the shy dork, he decides to write a love letter to her confessing his feelings, addressing her as "His graceful sunflower" instead of her name and signs it:

"Your Friend, Your Protector, Your Samurai, I belong to you: Shirahama Kenichi"

Feeling proud of it, and a tad touched by the words himself, Kenichi congratulates his hands on a job well done and returns to bed, leaving the letter on his Ryouzanpaku bedroom table and turning in for the night. Of course, lo and behold! The next morning Apachai is on trash duty, and Kenichi is off to school... leaving the letter on the table, which Apachai shoves into a bin, and ends up dropping on his way out... right in front of Shigure's room.

Guess what happens?

The letter basically circulates, ending up in the hands of almost every girl Kenichi has met, prompting a whole lot of chaos, confusion, and a very much unsafe young disciple. From Shigure's hands into Freya's backpack, into Valkyrie's lunch box and Renka's letter box and beyond, Kenichi has to deal with the ramifications of leaving important documents around.

Somehow, I have a gut feeling when he says "It was for Miu" it ISN'T going to make his situation better. :p

Towards the end of chapter 171 is a good place for Kenichi to give up on Miu.
