Towards the end of chapter 171 is a good place for Kenichi to give up on Miu.
Like Raine said in the Manga Commentary Thread, that idea won't work. He said practically right out of the gate that he wanted to become strong enough to protect Miu. Even if Miu was really the "Strongest Disciple" of Ryozanpaku, Kenichi's goal is to be able to protect her. That means becoming stronger than her, or at least on par with her skill.

And the situation you presented wouldn't work anyhow. Does any of them know Shou? No, they don't. Would Kenichi have any inclination to suspect that Miu does? No, because he lives with her. The other masters, who already knew about Kenichi's affections towards Miu, actually would have given him the heads up if there were any past paramours standing in his way. So there is no reasonable explanation for him not to call out to Miu.

And even if - IF - that was to work the way you think, it simply means that the Shigure/Kenichi road trip would have to occur earlier for any story to progress. The effect you'd have engineered would be like the canon event where Kenichi completely lost his will to fight.

Idea (Be warned, the premise for this is pretty much closed romance/humor):

Kenichi really likes Miu, but seeing as he's still quite the shy dork, he decides to write a love letter to her confessing his feelings, addressing her as "His graceful sunflower" instead of her name and signs it:

"Your Friend, Your Protector, Your Samurai, I belong to you: Shirahama Kenichi"

Feeling proud of it, and a tad touched by the words himself, Kenichi congratulates his hands on a job well done and returns to bed, leaving the letter on his Ryouzanpaku bedroom table and turning in for the night. Of course, lo and behold! The next morning Apachai is on trash duty, and Kenichi is off to school... leaving the letter on the table, which Apachai shoves into a bin, and ends up dropping on his way out... right in front of Shigure's room.

Guess what happens?

The letter basically circulates, ending up in the hands of almost every girl Kenichi has met, prompting a whole lot of chaos, confusion, and a very much unsafe young disciple. From Shigure's hands into Freya's backpack, into Valkyrie's lunch box and Renka's letter box and beyond, Kenichi has to deal with the ramifications of leaving important documents around.

Somehow, I have a gut feeling when he says "It was for Miu" it ISN'T going to make his situation better. :p
Resonates with your signature style bya. I'm so proud you still got it in ya.

All of the above in your post of course, is based on the assumption the masters have been up and up with Kenichi.

I've been toying with the view for a while now, that I am half convinced and waiting for them to reveal Miu is the strongest disiple, and he is a front/lure/patsy to keep attention off of her.

There is no proof yet of any such reasoning for their actions, but it actually makes more sense to me that how it is as presented.

Despite her inconsistant strength, I don't see her taking part in such a deception.

Shigure deciding that Kenichi works best with incentive, states to him that if he can last the next 5 minutes without getting cut by one of her weapons she will do ANYTHING he wants for the night. She believes that there is no way he can do so, but unfortunately she never knew that Kenichi's Ero-mode had reached Master level and was quickly activated by said treat.

All those pent up emotions would super charge his ero mode.

that's ridiculous.

Even if Kenichi had a so-called ero-mode that's any stronger than his real mode, Shigure is just too experienced and above him for anything like this to work.

You are all pulling at straws and doing classic character bashing to promote your favorite pairing.

Sure, Miu is probably still muhc stronger than Kenichi in her own way. *And* the masters aren't straight and narrow to him. Even with that, there is no way Kenichi could not realize the obvious love they feel for him.

I present you, ecchi or ero-mode. He has emulated the master's before and is known to switch his stances depending on what is best suited for him. And while they would not be master level, combining the rythm of his masters with an ero-charged ability would definately increase his level. And Kenichi is known for being motivated strongly by ecchi reasons. Heck, it's one of the main reasons he agreed to living at the Dojo.

While the Masters do care for him, they also love to tease the hell out of him. Shigure especially. It is not unreasonable to think she would use this as a taunt for him.

And he is not becoming more powerful than Shigure. He is reaching master level enough to be able to avoid dodging her attacks for 5 minutes. That is much easier than defeating her.

And I didn't say she would be the only pairing. Just the most reasonable one for this to work with at the start.

So kindly curb your half-assed accusations.

I made a one-shot (so far) of an alternate attitude kenichi.
The point of divergence was when his little sister was kidnapped by Ragnarok member Loki, he was allowing Loki to pound on him because Loki's female lackey had a friggn'' bowie knife to her throat.

The idea was that his little sister got her face sliced by accident and after screaming her head off fainted. When Kenichi looked up and saw that blood was coming off her and she wasn't conscious, he thought that the Lackey had killed his sister. Cue bat**** crazy attack on both members. He really did go nuts on both of them and was preparing to attack Ryuuto in his mindless rage. Before he was dog-piled by his comrades and told that his sister wasn't dead.

I stopped after that but the idea from then is he throws himself into training and would grin like a certain mad Shinigami during it. His old goal for Ragnarok had been to try and 'save them from their delinquent ways' now he sees them as a pack of rabid dogs that need to be put down for everyone's safety.

He doesn't go mad in a fight anymore, that was a one time nervous breakdown, but he is also far more aggressive and he let go of his reluctance to fight a girl. Also, never wear goggles near him. He Does Not Like That!

He won't kill, he hasn't fallen that far, but there is a big difference between dead and undamaged now is there?

On a side note: My first post here.

Here is a link to that one chapter I wrote, it's not very long, nor is it all that good, but this is the beginning of the general idea.

Blood Rage

The beginning looked like it was written in Honoka's perspective for a little while. I think you should use that angle. At least until you switch over to her brother.

Crack Idea that this thread has inspired Ranma Saotome albeit a bit older teaching Kenichi Martial arts. Now following the rule that that the main characters of a series naturaly attracts chaos putting Ranma the chaos magnet Saotome in a world where not only his own issues exist but Yami exists......

Kenichi would come out different as well training with Ranam he is involved in Ranma's misadventures ( just because it is an older Ranma thus outside the series does not mean his adventures stop we just stop looking into his world). This leads to a much different Kenichi who has different answers to the problems that he will face.

Ranma tries teaching Kenichi, but their training keeps getting interrupted by all the new romantic hijinx. You can't have a Ranma crossover without multiple violent girls after someone. And Kenichi would be Ranma's disciple.

I had a strange and rather cracktastic idea the other day. A random thought of crossing Kenichi and Saint Seiya popped into my head, and my evil little muse suggested that I have the cast of Kenichi acting in a low budget Saint Seiya Movie in order to bolster Ryozanpakou's finances.

Chapter 1

It was there again, that overwhelming sense of fear that always threatened to grip his heart when he was forced to face her. It didnÆt help that this was apparently one of those practices with her where she was allowed free reign of her weapons in an attempt to æcureÆ him of his fear of them. While effective when dealing with normal everyday incidents involving weapons, he was ever more terrified of them when places into her hands.

Shigure did seem to notice this about Kenichi. In fact, it was something she loved to use to tease her ever evolving prey. Basically, she thought of their relationship like a wolf teasing a poor rabbit before finally devouring said creature. But as he grew with the other masters and developed a strong relationship with them, jealously began to overwhelm her, something she was quite unaccustomed to and desperately wanted to ignore.

But it would not leave her and she grew every wary of the fact that while Kenichi remained ever fearful of all the masters, he seemed to lack strong development in others areas when it came to her. It was starting to annoy her and she desperately sought out a way to fix it. So prior to this current training exercise, she asked advice from one particular philosophical jujitsu master who always seemed to know what to do.

And his answer had been simple, offer an incentive for Kenichi to participate. Willing to try anything she decided on just such an approach with him. So standing before the terrified boy with her katana drawn she spoke carefully and slowly as was expected of her.

ôIf youà manage to land a hità I will submit toà any request you have.ö While she was imagining that he would be inspired as it meant special training with him, she almost completely caught off guard when his eyes went completely wide and his face burned red. Then almost as suddenly a goofy grin spread across his face and his fingers began to move in a way that slightly worried her. And then without her even beginning the match he moved at her with a speed that surprised her, making her realize just how much he was holding back with her.

But she wasnÆt a master for nothing and her sword was swinging towards him without a second thought, until he showed no signs of slowing down or stopping, her eyes fixated on her. Worried she was going to end up killing her disciple, she angled her sword in an attempt to bring the flat side against him to teach him a lesson. However, he seemed to have anticipated this and quickly lowered himself down so it would be hard for her to get a clean hit.

And this move cost her, unable to re-angle her attack, she tried to move from his attack, but he was already inside of her guard and she did not have time to completely move from the attack. With the lightest of touches his hand scraped across her stomach and he had scored his one hit.

Thank you, and ask and you shall receive.

****************

With victory secure in his grasp, he promptly ran himself directly into the wall that was behind her with a somewhat of a sickening thud. Despite being able to take hits well, he managed to hit that special spot on his head that causes his thinking ability to take flight and he fell onto the ground completely dazed.

The young female master was dazed as well; staring at the spot that had been touched like it was the most miraculous thing to have ever popped up. In a small way it was considering the level of difference between the two should not have allowed such a thing to occur. But it did and she now found herself owing a favor to her protÚgÚ.

But that would have to wait as he seemed to lack the capabilities to tell her what he wanted and instead she carted him up to his room to rest more comfortable in his bed, their practice over as the conditions had been met. But not knowing what he wanted was beginning to irk her slightly and she sat to pondering this mystery. A sudden thought entered into her head as she realized that the way he had been acting reminded her of a certain mode someone else entered and she quickly sought said master out.

It was easy to find him as she simply followed the somewhat disgusting chuckles that issued forth from one Chinese Kung Fu masterÆs mouth as he busied himself going over the various forms in his adult magazines. While not one to surprise easy, he was a little off put when Shigure was the one that actually sought him out and not the other way around.

ôIf you couldà have me do any task you wantà what would you ask?ö Her speech was slow as usual, but each word seemed to have a growing impact until he practically exploded, his aura flaring as he produced a camera.

ôChowa! I knew you would come around to my side one day. Now I just need you to undress and IÆllàö He barely dodged the tip of the sword as it pierced into the ground nearby and realizing he had probably been tricked he quickly retreated from the trap set for him, of course taking a few quick underskirt shots before his camera was destroy first.

But his reaction had been enough insight for Shigure and she knew exactly what Kenichi would have been wanting from her. While she would not normally do this sort of thing, a promise was a promise especially between a master and a student. So with a determined outlook, she trudged up the stairs, well hopped considering there were no stairs anymore, and approached the discipleÆs room. With practiced ease she slid the door open without a sound and strode into the room where he currently rested.

Making sure the door was closed behind her; she rustled out of the various clothing, making sure to place her weapons in an easily accessible reach in case a certain pervert decided to drop in. With the last piece of equipment out of the way, the moonlight danced across her wonderfully full breasts, accented her lightly pink nipples which seemed to harden just slightly even without a cool air touching upon them. As she moved to wake him up, she could realized that a sense of excitement was coursing through her veins as some sort of thrill of actually going through with this was pounding in her head.

So it was with a slightly shaking hand that Kenichi was stirred from his earned rest. Groggily he rose to a lazy sitting position and began to half heartedly open his eyes. But the second light entered into them they shot open so he could get the full realization of the blurry scene before him. Nope, it had not been his imagination playing on him, or the remnants of a sexual dream, this was realized as Miu was also present during this type of situation. Indeed, a fully nude Shigure was currently staring at him quizzedly and only one through could burn through his head. ôGod bless you, Kami.ö

Yeah.... but this was not his request...

On the other hand, I could see him going with the flow...

One thing though... it reads kind of as if she was unwilling, yet at same time she was, due to the immediate assumption Kenichi would request this. It kind of is hard to rasp what is going through her head, despite it being from her viewpoint.

If Kenichi ever found out how this came to be... he might almost be insulted that her assumption is he would want what sensei wanted.

Somehow... I was picturing him blurting almost the same thing Keiichi from Oh/Ah My Goddess did.

It's more third person with insight into their heads rather than a true first person viewpoint, which could be why it's hard to grasp what she is thinking.

Though she's not exactly unwilling, it's more she has never done this before and these feelings she is having is completely different to what she has been accustomed to. Don't forget that she tended to avoid human contact even at the dojo and is still not exactly use to it.

Hence why she is constantly seeking advice and bound to jump to conclusions. Which is why I feel this works well for her character. She is still going to have slight hesitation but I have no doubt that her character is attracted or at least somewhat interested in Kenichi so she wouldn't be unwilling in that way.
