Nasuverse Ikari Shinji: Berserker

Ikari Shinji: Famous for being useless and then going berserk on the angels' asses. He's summoned by Rin, with Ilya ending up with archer, but not necessarily Archer. Shinji, being the weaking that he is, has poor ratings in everything except with his sole noble phantasm.

Which is, of course... Evangelion Unit 01. 40 metre/130 foot tall mecha laying waste to other servants. Dealing with the witnesses would be a little hard, but they'd manage. The EVA, though, would probably be on permanent berserk mode until either he's A) Out of mana/prana/pranna, B) Dead, or C) Killed the enemy.

Now, as to when Shinji happened to die and make his pact with the world is debatable. Maybe it happened at the end of NGE. Maybe Leliel managed to kill him. Maybe he died earlier on, or later.

Forgive me if i ts already been done. (Truthfully, I have no idea where this idea came from. I disturb myself.)

But I can't think of how to end it, because no matter how I slice it, it ends depressingly. Ilya dies in a year, and once Shinji goes back, he gets to spend eternity in that place where each hero goes, you know.

Actually there's nothing new with this idea, I had a conversation with F1 about this subject a long time ago regarding which anime character will fit as what servant class. Anyway, there's the problem of his 'Legend' and the fact that he's a total wimp, and that's without even touching the issues surrounding him as a hero.

'All things considered,' Rin thought, 'having a Servant is less stressful than I thought it would be.'

All eyes turned towards the kitchen door as Illyasviel von Einzbern stepped through. She took in the sight of Archer leaning over a bound Sella while Leysritt acted the willing accomplice, her diminutive frame seemingly larger and more imposing than possible. Unfortunately for her, said Servant seemed unaffected.

"Oh I was just letting Leysritt and Sella here have a taste of my world-famous curry. Here, have some!"

"I don't-mpph!"

"See." said Archer ignoring Ilya's sputtered objections, just patting her head instead. Strangely it seemed to work and Ilya only gave him a half-hearted glare.

"Now just go back to your studies and let Onii-chan finish dinner."

"But I'm the Onee-chan, damn it." Ilya muttered. Nonetheless, she let him guide her around and back to her room.

Why can't it be the Shinji Ikari from 'Shinji and Warhammer 40K'? Provided, permissions and all.

I don't know, you have a world being attacked by giant monsters that can wipe out all life, that seems awful similar to Notes.

Let's say they nasuverse rules apply to the eva setting: the angels are Types and with half of humanity gone from 2nd impact, people born after that (shinji) have more magic circuits.

Psh, just have Shirou replace Shinji, honestly, if you're going to copy paste a personallity and erase a character completely w/o development you might as well take him out of the picture altogether and save yourself the effort.

Except, Shinji handles trauma differently than Shirou.

So we have Shinji, suffering his depression at the loss of his parent figure
(for the second time) Kiritsugu, struggling against his own cowardice (I mustn't run away) whilst still trying to live up to the ideal of a heroic figure.

Regardless of which universe he is in, I see Shinji quickly becoming a heroic martyr, his total lack of self confidence and emotional depression combined with the need to attempt heroic acts (doubtless with early failures or phyrric victories) driving him into a suicidal spiral of reclessness, seeking only to make his death more meaningful than his life.

In FSN-verse, it equals a Archers sword style (from what I have gathered he leaves deliberate fatal openings to know where his opponent will strike), and you can have good end where he grows as a person and comes to realise his worth to those around him and the true (meaning deep and lasting, I don't believe in that fated lovers crap) love of whatever romantic interest he has.

Or bad end, where he sacrifices himself, satisfying his own beliefs in a tragic and poignant fashion.

Or theres that other end where the war ends and he just goes on the same as he always has, eventually ending up as a really morose, depressing, emo Archer, who cuts himself with swords from the inside.

In eva verse, it just means instead of running away or refusing to pilot, he gives it his all every time without regards to himself, in every battle, with the intent that every battle be his last. Creates a different group dynamic and character interaction. Probably a lot of character growth on Misato's part as well.

EOE probably would result in him re-writing the world as the happy alternate, but without himself as part of that world, instead maybe becoming a new world seed cast into space or just dissolving away into nothing.

That is how I see it anyway, if you maintain character as much as possible.

Why not expanding the idea to other servants, sans Saber and Archer (Saber goes to Shirou, Archer with ILLYA).
Here are my suggestion:
Lancer: Rei Ayanami. Under Lluvia.
Berserker: Shinji Ikari, under Rin.
Rider: Asuka Soryu Langley under Sakura. When Shinji Matuo will try, keyword TRY, to take command of her, she will beat the asshole within an inch of his life and eat the Book of False Attendant.
Caster: Misato Katsuragi. Under TAIGA!!!

Didn't Shinji have the Lance for a few moments in EoE? He didn't really use it on his own, but it would definitely be associated with his legend, which might be enough.

There is a story where Shinji Ikari plays the role of a Lancer, if I'm not mistaken, though that includes characters from other series as well, with the premise being that the Grail was borked enough to summon not heroes of ancient history, but modern media.

Actually, it's not at all clear that that's true. The Nasuverse seems to look superficially much like our world. If you were a normal person (with no knowledge of magic etc.) living there, you could not tell the difference. Further, I believe that Waver Velvet is said to be into anime, and the original Playstation is actually mentioned in Fate/Zero (Alexander gets one to play with). So, it's quite plausible that, other than FSN itself, most anime series that exist in this world also exist in that one.
