umm will Shinjii has his own version of Marian Ravenwood here?
Hmm. Misato is the daughter of his mother's co-researcher, an archaeologist wasn't he? And Marian Ravenwood was the Daughter of Dr. Jones' teacher. So while Asuka does the angry psychotic girl well... dunno. Asuka was ALSO the daughter of a co-researcher but Yui was the originator of all the theories, according to Canon. There's no mention of her expanding on anyone else. She was the real genius behind the Eva project and HIP.

Thus, if I write this fic (which I might, but don't get your hopes up too high, guys), I think I'll have Misato play like Marion a bit.

Keep in mind that Shinji may have been raised by Indy, but he's not Indy 2. He'll make his own decisions based on who he is and he will react in ways Indy wouldn't, as well as ways Indy would.

Plus, I'm not out to just rewrite Raiders of the Lost Ark with Shinji in the title role, you know? Original story for this one... More or less.

I'm suddenly left wondering if NERV or SEELE knows where the recovered Ark of the Covenant was being kept.

Or whether that had anything at all to do with Second Impact, or any of their plans...

They might, if they were former Nazis and they have half as much power as they appear to. But by this point the Ark would, presumably, have been stored in the same warehouse in the same crate since the 1930s. It may have been "accidentally" erased from the registry so it is truly lost, thanks to the most mysterious and illogical institutions of Man: Bureaucracy.

On the other hand, SEELE and NERV are quite determined to get their hands on anything potentially to do with the Angels, so they might have it.

It would be quite the weapon against the Angels or the Evas though... Perhaps Indy had heard rumors that the Ark had been found by NERV?

The real question is what SEELE or NERV would hope to do with the Ark. It has a bad habit of melting Nazis.

Maybe it did fry nazi conspirators, after all Keel is about 30% chrome including his spine, as far as we know he might have gotten another sacret relic just to survive.

On a completely unrelated thing, I was thinking what the reaction of the Almirant of Over the Rainbow (please, change that name!!) if he ever saw one of Indi's adventures when he was an ensign...

... After displaying his feelings of Nerv and the world in general, the almirant took a more careful look into the pilots, and getting in front of Shinji's face he asked in a voice between curious and exasperated.

Hey kid, does the name Henry Jones sounds a bell to you?

Yes sir, my uncle and mentor

God Dammit, how does that dog is, haven't seen him in years, not since that pirate's stronghold in Tortuga, and the Bar Figth that followed, I was so drunk that I believed that a honest to god Kraken sunk our boat...

I think you mean "Admiral", and he'd have to be... At least 120 years old to have been around since World War I.

Then again, it's a strange crazy world... ^_^

I heard somewhere that Keele is implied to be the so-called "Wandering Jew", or Lazarus. Brought back to life by Jesus, an old story goes that he became immortal and wandered the Earth, unable to die. Hence why he wants Instrumentality-He wants to die.

But as I dislike this idea (and it's not confirmed in canon), I think it's better that Keele is an old Nazi who barely survived an attempted reopening of the Ark of the Covenant. Just one of many Nazis who escaped and vanished after World War II... And perhaps one with a score to settle with Dr. Jones.

And what would Shinji's crippling fear be? The same as good old Uncle Indy's?
"Penguins. Why did it have to be Penguins?"

As one idea for what the Ark could be used for:

Angel beacon. Sure, opening it is a Really Bad Idea for anyone in the area - but it'd probably get the Angels' attention turned away from that whole 'starting Third Impact' business for a minute or two.

And then, while the Angel is a bit confused, have the Evas strike.

Good idea, Gullwhacker!

Also, it might be interesting if, over the course of his life Indy had met an Angel or two (when they were on Earth for various reasons of their own) and perhaps one of them recognizes Shinji's style.

I hear that Over the Rainbow is supposed to be a Nimitz-class supercarrier. If so, maybe you should check the island, or the flightdeck for her number.

I know one fanfic writer had her as being the former USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), for instance.

No clue if true, but Wikipedia states that "Over The Rainbow", was actually the USS "Harry S Truman" Nimitz class supercarrier. It is CVN 75.

I was the one who wrote that, actually.
I've seen a few authors call it something else, as the name annoys some authors.

Weebee, for example, is another author that renamed it. He called it USS Horseman, Wilder class.

Oops... noticed Wiki only calls it a carrier, you call it a supercarrier. Still.

Don't ask me... It is obviously a play on words, since it is a Ranma crossover, and many consider him a wild horse. I just remember it. A few other have renamed it for their own purpose. As I stated... many do not like that name.

Here it is from chapter 16:

Just as Misato said it, The lead ship of the 2nd fleet came into view. Kensuke shoved his way into a window, videotaping the carrier with his camera. "That's the U S S Horseman. Wilder class. She's a vintage ship from before second impact!"(1)
And the reference number:

(1)Everyone else has a name that has something to do with a ship. It's only right that I do the same with Ranma. Ten points to the person who tells me what the horseman's name and class have to do with Ranma.
While I'm uncertain what to think on renaming the ship... I did in fact like the story. Here is the link to the story.

Shinji's mission is to find out what SEELE and NERV are up to, but couldhe have a few side adventures as well? And what would they look like?
