Hi all, been a while, neh?
I've been thinking of doing some more Iron Fic stuff within the next month. But, instead of doing a weekly challenge, I think it'd be fun to have multiple events. And given that the Olympics ARE right around the corner, I thought, "why not?"
Here's how this'll work: there will be three kinds of writing challenges. People are free to participate in as many challenges as they like-you DO NOT have to do all of the challenges. The contests will be graded seperately, so your perfeormance in one contest will NOT carry over to others.
The three event types are the following:
SPEED
ENDURANCE
STYLE
SPEED--tradtional old-school IF challenges. A short prompt, your fandom, four hours and your writing program of choice.
STYLE--a tiered writing challenge, designed to test your ability to stick with a story. Every week for four weeks a new prompt will be posted, forming the basis of the next chapter of your story. The chapters will be graded individually, so the final score is cummulative. (Note: the only deadline is the Games' closure. If you don't have a chapter done before the next is up, it's fine. You need to have all four chapters done by the due date though!)
ENDURANCE--the hardest IF challenge on record, this challenge gives you an entire month to write a longfic. What's a longfic? A really, really long oneshot. You could split it into chapters, but it all has to be done before the end! I'm also considering a minimum wordcount, just to be a jackass!
You might wonder why a style challenge is considered the hardest; that's because keeping your attention on one story is really, really hard. This test will be difficult, and the competition (if anyone bothers XD) will be glorious!
...Okay, I'm done now. Seriously, I'd like to see some writing done, so if you're interested and actually have time, just respond to this. A few last things: 1.) I need judges. I'm not having another fiasco like last time. 2.) I need prompt ideas, for any of the challenge types! I'm good at coming up with ideas, but a lot of you are way better. Send me an e-mail (not a PM please, and don't post your excellent ideas on the thread!) with your ideas.
Oh, and tell your friends who are into fanfiction about this. Seriously. If we get more participants, we'll all win because there'll be more to read. If we get more judges, we all win (you know what I mean!) because bragging rights can be handed out sooner. And if we get more members, we all win because there'll be more awesome people on TFF.
Anyone interested? Contest starts on Saturday the 13th of February!
