Interesting News: It turns out Karl vs. Relic is a lot bigger a battle than we thought. We all know Unknown's genius won him the Endzone Tournament, but it turns out Relic's creator happens to be a champion too. I'm currently looking through it now, but apparently he created a ghost angel that managed to win the Survivor: Deviant Art Tournament. Cyril the Wizard, who also happens to be rather lulzy himself, also made an appearance. Moof is epic win. Good drinking buddies those two. :sisi:

Iiiinteresting.
One week left people. Place your bets.
MATCH ONE:
Has no one I care for in it. Instinct says Chimbley, since he seems to be more of a veteran at this sort of thing.
MATCH TWO:
Ouch. Karl vs. Relik. Very hard to choose who's going to win here. I want to bet on Karl, seeing as he will probably win(Plot power), but Relik has the advantage here. Karls running out of steam and is starting to take damage. One critical hit, and he could be finished. And Relik is very capable of delivering that hit.
MATCH THREE:
I have no freaking CLUE how that dumb robot managed to advance so dang far. I'm looking forward to seeing him decomissioned by our Nefarious Duo.
MATCH FOUR:
... Kinda tough here. Pockets is good, but Mizuno nearly had KARL of all people. I think he just had the bad luck of going against Karl. Close, but aquaboy comes out on top.

To be fair, these matches are less about battle ability than the skill and creativity of the artist. What makes Karl vs. Relik so dangerous is that BOTH of them have won a tournament in the past, so they both are very accomplished artists with a lot of skill and wit under their belts. Unknown has a slight edge given his main mode of combat is flashes, but Relik has a lot of plot capability. However in this case his breaking of the fourth wall could either make or break him. I'm not quite sure. Tough call overall.

The Robot got bloody lucky frankly. It's one part less skilled opponants, and another part the fact that he's more 'steampunk' which is apparently an issue in this that decided Pocket's first win. However... this battle may blindside us. Cyril is known for surprises, abet a weird style.

Looks like there's been an extension to the deadline, both for helping those artists in need, and of course for Endling, who is apparently really sick and needs like $2000 dollars (For the ER, plus apparently $1500 for medicine, and of course a lot for the surgery he requires...). He and a lot of the other artists are now offering commisions to raise the money. And yes, that includes Unknown. So...

It's that time again! I've only seen a couple finished pieces, but I think the Prof and Annie advance. On the Mizuno/Pockets front, things are a little bit closer, but I'll put my stock in Pockets.

Unknown has put up an interesting spectator flash, but we haven't seen the actual combat entry yet. Oh, and the Relic comic makes Karl look REALLY creepy!

... Good god. Exiledelusion's portrayal of Karl is the scariest I've seen. Hope Unknown makes an entry in time, but both at this point are not fully entered.

Unknown has released his spectator comic which shows the conclusion of the last battle with Steffi and a little of Karl's back story surrounding the Law of Talos

According to the comment, he might not actually get his entry in tonight. It would be a shame for him to have to drop out like this. Especialy considering what happened in the Professor's match. That 'Hat', not that you can call it that anymore, would be just the thing for him, assuming could use it.

with all the delay and madness I think it should turn out alright...

my own opinons...
Match 1
Josh gives up... a real shame that he got voted in only to give up -_- but oh well chimbly wins again.

Match 2
Exiledelusion's work is fantastic as I expected... one thing I never expected with the SI twist was having herself get impaled, rather viciously at that. LOVE her take on Karl, creepy as hell but spot on as he pushes Rel's buttons.

I'm confident Unknown will get it in... I hope so at least. the SE was great and the intermission was nice to see a bit more of castle of nations. If Unknown gets in his piece it will be a hard match to judge.

Match 3
Anne and the professer was very interesting and had a whole cast of characers, nice to see lillith still be utilized. Though much like todds, Murphy was more of a side character in the story but I think it was a good enough showing of all the characters. I was almost disappointed at the pregnancy announcement, I was so hooked by the red herring given that I couldn;t see that coming... the propoal and semi-light hearted end was nice AND looks like if the plot continues Lillith will be a major enemy (not just karl like in everyone elses plotslines).

Murphy's was decent, had a better feel to it then the last one... more plot and Murphy's real wish is a rather scary thought. But fits the character very well...

Match Four
As much as I am a Mizuno fan the entry was rather lackluster compared to the karl match. I still love the art style and the characters worked well it's just seemed rushed as the artist admited it was.

What little I've seen of eric's was decent, I'll admit I haven;t been following the character closely and I don;t know who the girl that he is working with is but I am interested to see in what will happen now that the mech user finally has a mech to use... I remain in the Mizuno camp for now.

Okay, but seriously.

Josh's entry was pretty cool...too bad he knocked himself out, but I have to give him props, that was a damn cool way to drop himself out, rather then just saying he was quitting. Chimbley's was...fairly amusing, in the way he lambasted the other guy's character.

Relik was quite awesome, quite awesome indeed. Damn, merciless towards herself, the artist was. Also...the ending is quite...intriguing. Mwahaha. Karl's was pretty damn cool too (but holy fuck, how strong IS Karl?), the fight was cool...though, I didn't really like Relik's voice actor, but, well, what can you do. Overall, good show on both sides, shame they went up against each other so quickly.

Anne and the professor was nice, it really felt like he was using a lot of the other characters...unlike the other person who did that, who mostly seemed to be dragging in random things from their backstory, making everything about MEMEMEME...they made use of Murphy's revealed backstory to full effect, making it quite interesting, all in all. Professor is pretty damn cool, all things considered. Murphy's entry was fairly cool as well...and damn, awesome twist at the end, there. Go Murphy.

Mizuno's entry was pretty good, not up to the same standard as the other one, but I still greatly enjoyed it. Eric's...was decent, but I couldn't really get all that enthusiastic about it. Kinda cute, though, I suppose.

Karl vs. Relic is going to be painful no matter what. Ow, seriously, ow. As a character I'm none to fond of Relic, but I admit that Exiledelusion has an insane amount of skill. Karl's was awesome too, and both revealed some intriguing plot points, although I must say I'm still rooting for Karl, though that's pure personal bias. I admit there was an insane amount of skill on both sides, and frankly Relic made Karl look freaking creepy. I do agree with Luthorne that his voice could have been better though. All in all it's too close to tell who won. :ph43r:

I've never been fond of Anne and the Professor either, but I must admit this entry was awesome. Sadly it seemed more of a Anne and the Professor vs. Lilith more than anything, but at the very least interesting plot points were made. And Murphy's entry was freaking creepy at the end. I highly expect Anne and the Professor to win, unless they get major points off for the way it was shaped.

I'm still rooting for Mizuno, though I do see that this one was incredibly rushed. Like how Karl's become a plot point for that one though.

Didn't care much for the last one though. :huh.:

Unknown's Epilogue is up. Looks like Relic's okay, and apparently he's hinted at something in relation to Karl. I still say it's a VERY close match... Though I have a feeling that Relic has somewhat of an advantage. I'd personally prefer Karl, but both entries deserve to continue.

I can't decide. Leaning toward Relic, but it could go either way...

Mm... I liked both entries a lot... I think Exiledelusion has the better chance but I would not be surprised if Unknown moves on. I enjoyed both takes on the fight, both plotlines and both characters.now it's just the agonizing wait...

Not exactly LoT news but it is related... Endling is recovering from surgery and is going to pull through. Apparently he had several potentially fatal problems but through surgery and medication he's finally back on the upswing and getting better. :) he posted a large journal entry.

And now the Results!

1) Chimbly - won by forfeit... not much to say about it, I liked the other entry more but it was a bowing out post.

2) Karl - I can't say I'm surprised and I am an unknown fan.... but Relik had the better entry in my opinion. Unknown is good at developing a character and spotlighting his opponent and I will be excited to see where Karl's plot leads with his background. But I am sad to see Relik go.

3) Professor and Anne - not surprised and quite happy here... even with murphy's 'twistish' end to his entry the professor's entry was just amazing to me on all levels. Art, story, and characters.

4) Eric Pockets - I love Crihtt and Mizuno... but her entry left some to be desired and even though I'm not a fan of eric pockets his entry was much more complete and solid.

not matches set up yet but that will come soon...

Personally I think it's the format. The advantage Unknown has that a lot of people can't keep up with is that he is good with the flashes. I mean like really really good. And flashes are more fun to watch than comic format. Now if Unknown had gone comics, which he has proven himself to be good at in the past, he would likely have lost (Although even then, he still has an edge since his are pretty much always colored). Other people find it difficult to keep up with that kind of competition.

Frankly Unknown's was more entertaining to watch (In small part because I'm no fan of Relic, but again I admit the artist has a LOT of skill with shaping it), but for pure intrigue I'd have gone with Exile's entry. Even that was just by a hair (A thick one though. Karl was bending Relic to his will. Now THAT'S interesting. However I also think that was a failing. In that aspect Relic's character is ill defined while Karl's is more second nature to us now. We KNOW how Karl thinks, while Relic not so much. From what I've seen of him however, I cannot honestly believe he'd be swayed that easily. But then again, one could argue the previous scene where he almost bit the artist could have worked into that, which would have made much more sense. The problem is we didn't see Relic's thoughts as to this, which makes it not as obvious, hence a failing), because Unknown's epilogue was pretty intriguing too. Struck a small cord in me.

Intrigue however does not win battles. Which is why I was surprised the Psycho robot lost to Chimbley of all people. That was so much intrigue you could cut it with a spoon. Chimbley's artist however always fails at that particular aspect, but manages to make up for it with others.

Shame at the loss of Mizuno. Though it was rushed, it was more action packed, thus more entertaining. Pockets was... kiddie frankly. Then again, Crihitt's error was not defining Pockets enough in the battle. Felt more like Enemy, fight, win, rather than some development on both sides in addition to that.

My desires? KARL VS. CHIMBLEY. It's win-win. Karl goes to the final round (Most likely, though seriously, PRETTY FREAKING LIKELY), we see the epic Unknown usage of Chimbley along with TWO epic voices in one video, and of course win galore.

I'm still none too fond of the Professor and Anne, but the plot point they brought is made of win.

However given how things have gone up till now, I know it will be the Proff vs. Karl. Why? Becuase unless I'm not remembering correctly, you are fond of them, and Unknown has knocked off all your favorites so far. :snigger:

I would love to see Karl vs chimbley for the same reasons. TheStark does an amazing job as Chimbly and Unknown works well with that character. Mr.-Tea-and-crumphets does a great job voicing Karl, it really fits the character and the writing and in large part has helped Unknown's work.

 yes that has been the case hasn't it... I really hope that isn;t the case but I have to hand Prof. and anne one big bonus for not obsessing about karl like much of the field has. They didn't crowbar Karl into their main plot save for perhaps a mention as a looming threat at one point... I like what has been set up and am looking forward to seeing it continue...

at this point my ideal end would be Prof vs Karl in the finals... and I hope that will be the case... but Sin-of-angels is likely reading this now and will pit them against each other just because... oh well... it will still be a kick ass match.

... I don't know. Chimbley vs. Karl at the end has potential for epic. Well, as long as it's Unknown's entry. I don't think Chimbley has made it this far... wait, no he did in Endzone... Chimbley is a pain to deal with...

Then again, the Prof vs. Karl is definitely the most potential. Already BOTH opponants are human, one is freaking PREGNANT, we have the Professor's little sidestory with Lilith, and Karl is doing SOMETHING with the Law of Talos that is likely akin to what Climber did with the Grim Energy... and worse... if Karl get's his hands on the wishing machine... BAD END.

However... frankly speaking all the coolness of this tournament has been almost sucked dry. The epic potential for Karl vs. the Psycho Robot dried out with a frankly surprising verdict, Mizuno is out of the running again, and of course the loss of a massive amount of epic back in round 2... Frankly the Prof's side story and Karl is all that's left...

Edit: Huh... I followed a link to this Caretaker-of-Myth's profile and found out that these Deviant Art OC battles indeed DO have tournaments that allow written entries... and in fact ALONGSIDE comic entries... and this girl (Assuming due to the writing), got past round 3 of that one with said written entries... and is now in the top 8... Haven't looked at the level of skill in the tournament yet, given I still have to finish my essay, but I'm intrigued.

Edit2: Also, one of hers:

Epic Lulz.

Well now that was interesting. I honestly didn't think Karl would pull through this time. Well, here are my hopeful projections of the future rounds.

ROUND 4: Semi-finals
Karl Vs Chimbley
Pockets Vs Prof

Round 5: Finale
Karl Vs Prof

I really hope this ends up right. This gives Lil's 'problem' time to expand and for Karl to learn about it. And I wonder if Karl could use the Hat? It would certainly fulfill his energy needs. It would also be an every one wins scenario, not to mention hideously tricky to see Karl pull off. Unlike Climber, he can't really afford to be hit by bullets, and Annie amd the Proffesor use a LOT of those. Although, I wonder if there will actually be a resolution to this tourney? We've been waiting to see the endzone finale for how long? Have they even announced a winner?

But, I digress. PvP would almost be a giveaway match. Pockets is good, Prof is better. I hope they actually fight each other directly this time though, instead of wallowing around, never directly fighting each other. And Karl Vs Chimbley... well I wonder if the Chimbley Sweep will draw a connection?

... I'm still surprised Pockets won. Granted Mizuno's entry was rushed, but it just seemed superior for some reason...

I suppose it's my bias for style and Fight scenes taking over... The art in Mizuno's entry was nice, and had quite a few very good action scenes. The most grating flaw though was the lack of character felt from the opponent. Now if he improved that, things would have been ideal... le sigh...

Eric P. Vs Prof. and Anne

finally karl decided he knocked out enough of my favorites.

Hmm, barring an upset or someone dropping out, looks like we'll have Karl against the Professor and Anne for a final match...though, that may just be my prejudices speaking, since I'm fairly 'meh' on Chimbley's stuff...and, for that matter, Eric Pocket's stuff. Sorry, boy-o, Tom Swift Jr. is superior.

Exactly as predicted. I'm on a roll today.
That being said, the final round will be epic.

Who do you think is gonna take it home?
