Live Action Movies/Dramas

I felt compelled to start this topic.

List of Anime/Manga based live actions that well in your opinion suck or don't. And Anime/Manga that can never be made into a live action and will instantly fail if they are.

Pass.

Death Note Live Action: It was alright..

Over-Rev Live Action: It was fine but it felt condensed like they mashed the first couple volume together to fit in a hour.

Initial D Live Action: I guess there was a good reason why it was made in Hong Kong. Good actor, Jay Chou is a fav, and the directors have good reputations. Just wish they didn't cut out some of the characters.

Heard there was going to be a second one? Anyone know if its true?

GTO Live Action: It was awesome, not as awesome as the manga/anime but still awesome.

Gokusen Live action drama: Wasn't too bad in my opinion.

Neutral: Speed Racer: It seemed ok.

Fail:

Fate/Stay Night: I need not explain why

Cute Honey Live Action drama: .....

MPD Psycho Live Action: IT wasn't so much as fail but it was watered down to the point it felt.. weird, and could have used more episodes with better character development.

Wangan Midnight: Every last one of them. It was as if Japanese bureaucracy got in the way of actually making it good. You could easily tell where the film was sped up to make it look like thee went fast. And most of the time they were going the speed limit. On Shutoko.. The chracter development was ok i guess, the actual films themselves just failed, hard.

It was the fanboy in me that had me buy all of them...

Upcoming Live Actions:

DragonBall: Just saw the trailer. Insta-fail.

Max Payne: ....Same.

Ghost in The Shell: I keep praying they won't screw this up.

Astroboy: ... It will fail. No doubt.

Tekken: I have nothing on it.

Afro Samurai: The Same.

Cowboy Bebop: Same.

Haven't seen

Detroit Metal City: I am expecting this to be awesome.

......

I keep hearing about an Evangelion live action. There's no way this can be true. It would never work. Eva is a true work of art. A live action would really cheapen it badly.

The same goes for Hellsing.

Marky Mark is an... odd choice for Max, but he's been doing really well recently.

..Just heard from someone who saw it.

Gave it a 4/10

Was expecting it.

Eva is meh.

But a Hellsing live action, done well, would be sheer, amazing motherfucking, balls-ripping, cunt-punting, zombie-killing, whore-raping, monument-exploding, civilian-slaughtering BADASS.

Just imagine seeing motherfucking Alucard killing liveaction zombies in a real London setting. Awesome. Awesome!

Fate/Stay Night: I need not explain why
Um, there is no FSN live action movie. Unless you're talking about the unofficial porno movie.

<_<

If you were, yeah. It's the equivalent of a B studio having actors wearing a cheap Spiderman costume and then have them screw each other. If you expected it to be a serious movie, you need your skull crushed and your brains painted on the wall.

I feel a good live action FSN movie could be made (even if they took out the sex). It's unlikely it will happen given that chances are, if anyone did try it, they'd screw it up anyway.

As for Max Payne, it's neither anime or manga. That being said, as for the movie itself? Well I was hoping it would be decent, but given the trailer, I didn't expect it to be.

Pass:

Nodame Cantabile: Surprisingly decent, although Nodame has a damn annoying voice when she tries to be cute.

Utter Fail:

G-Saviour.

Question: what is this image from?

According to Kotaku, it's not Gears of War. But the similarities are shocking. Look:

Want to know what the first picture is?

It's Goku from the live action Dragon Ball movie.

You are now free to jump off the nearest bridge.

What the FUCK? Goku?! Who the fuck allowed that to go get past quality checking?!

That is the most retarded version of Goku EVER.

And on account;

Ghost in The Shell: I keep praying they won't screw this up.
Oh I'm with you on that one. I FUCKING PRAY that it doesn't get FUCKED UP. The Anime Industry and fanbase will throw a fucking bitch-fit if it does and that won't be pretty.

I don't want to fathom that. It's like a train wreck. I can't look away.

 Dude.. that's.. way beyond wtf? Goku? Srsly!?
So what does Super Saiyan Mode Goku look like in the movie?
Mai is probably like a dub name for Launch or something. Anyway where's Krillin in all this, and what happened to Picollo's antenna and turban?

If I remember correctly, Mai was the name for Pilaf's assistant. Wether they changed her role or just combined her with another character like Launch, I've no idea.

Huh, I'd forgotten about her... Guess I need to review the Dragonball series a bit more closely. Although without Empereor Pilaf, what purpose does Mai serve? She can't work for Piccolo and she had no personal use for the Dragonballs in the original series. What kind of half-assed stunt are they trying to pull? <_<

Its being made by an American movie studio with possibly and American director.

When the FUCK has an American Director ever done an anime to live-action movie any justice?

I may live in this country, but by far I fucking hate it for all the bullshit and fuck-ups it cranks out by ruining anime to live-action movies and video-game to movie remakes. Fuck you America.

Fuck you.

Like the fact that Americans were behind DB movie means anything. Besides the fact that the movie is based on DB.

<_<

Dragonball is one of the series that, no matter who is behind it, it would have sucked donkey balls period. I mean the sheer scope of the series (never mind the 'colorful' characters and costumes) would be difficult to translate in any other medium besides anime.

And it isn't like a Japanese director equals automatic win. Look at G Savior and the Sailor Moon live action movie.

I don't trust American directors and studious to do justice to a anime to live-action transition.

I'm desperately hoping Ghost in the Shell won't suck, not to mention the budget for that will have to be huge. Otherwise you can't accurately pull-off the GiTS Universe.

It all depends on who's behind it, no matter the background.

What makes GitS 'better' to translate, the story isn't as 'out there' as say Dragonball Z. I mean you break down GitS, it's a story about cyborgs in the future. Not about dragons that grant wishes or powerups that can blow up planets. I'm not going to say GitS is 'Westernized', but it is a story Westerners (whether American or European) can relate to better than the more Asian Dragonball.

Heck, it certainly a better story to translate into live action than Sailor Moon. School girls turning into, well, school girls with colorful sailor suits battling monsters? I know the Japanese company that made the live action movie didn't have limitless funding, but come on, Luna a stuffed cat?

This is why the only one I've remotely liked has been the City Hunter movie with Jackie Chan. It's hohkey...okay very hohkey, but the Street Fighter scene is what makes the movie.
