Take a show you like, and write a short description that makes it sound as dull as possible while still leaving enough information to make the show identifiable.
For example:
Teenage girls play with toy guns after school. One of them is a sociopath, but everyone likes her anyway.
or
Man stops playing piano, meets a girl, and starts playing again.
or
Little girl time travels to stop her friend from accepting jewelry.
or
Teen has his health severely deteriorate and almost dies from playing MMO games.
or
Young man discovers his life has an auto save feature.
EDIT:
It's been pointed out that not everyone has seen every anime, so there needs to be a way to identify what a series is.
One of two ways we can handle that, either people can guess and OP either confirms or denies, or spoiler tags with the show titles.
Examples:
OP: Girl goes to school because her dad dies, and every other woman in her family is a huge bitch. Then some uncultured peasants adopt her, and she likes them a lot.
Someone else: Kill La Kill!
OP: Correct.

Incredibly dense male attends a magic high school that condones violence between students under certain circumstances in the form of battles that he happens to have an unusually subdued advantage in. On his first day there he walks in on a tsundere girl getting dressed who happens to be the school 'princess' and one of the strongest people in the school as well. He ends up fighting her over it and wins. For some reason all the girls he talks to on a regular basis are both hot and thotting on him even though he's not particularly attractive because he said something encouraging to them once. Because no one else ever says nice things to hot girls apparently.
Either way works. On the one hand the guessing game might be more fun, on the other hand, spoiler tags with the show title are more convenient.
