Meh. What I guessed also fits those descriptions spot on perfectly.
Not claiming I was 'right' because I didn't guess what you meant, just saying that my guesses fit those descriptions just as well as the correct answers do.
Also, Fairy Tail is not about a gang. They're a guild. It's not splitting hairs because they are not the same thing.
Can't begin to state how much I hate that nonsense... Tsukihime I thought was fine, if too short... and is what clued me in to Fate/Stay Night, as otherwise doubt would have watched it, and in turn that clued me to Garden of Sinners...

Not really, it just proves that when you get down to it, several anime do fit the same descriptions. Well, there are genres for a reason, so usually the anime described as "a bunch of high school girls doing ordinary high school stuff" can bring up several titles.
Take this for example: "Civilian falls into the cockpit of a robot, fights a war." Without thinking, name five anime that fall into this kind of description.

I was thinking more along the lines of the original Macross, Martian Successor Nadesico sort of counts as he was hired as a cook, and Dual Parallel trouble. I'd say Evangelion as well, but technically he did not fall in, but was blackmailed into it.
