Contrabardus, on the other hand, got these completely wrong. :V

Mayo Chiki!

Akame ga Kill!

Seto no Hanayome

Tsukihime

Fairy Tail

Meh. What I guessed also fits those descriptions spot on perfectly.

Not claiming I was 'right' because I didn't guess what you meant, just saying that my guesses fit those descriptions just as well as the correct answers do.

Also, Fairy Tail is not about a gang. They're a guild. It's not splitting hairs because they are not the same thing.

I've noticed a lot of the descriptions so far can fit several different shows. It's kind of sad, when you think about it.

For future reference, the joke is while there is a Tsukihime anime, fans of the VN vehemently deny that it exists because of the anime being a poor adaptation of the VN. So yeah, there is a Tsukihime anime, it just doesn't get recognized.
Can't begin to state how much I hate that nonsense... Tsukihime I thought was fine, if too short... and is what clued me in to Fate/Stay Night, as otherwise doubt would have watched it, and in turn that clued me to Garden of Sinners...

Plenty of other series to hate that were worse. TTGL comes to mind as way worse...

Not really, it just proves that when you get down to it, several anime do fit the same descriptions. Well, there are genres for a reason, so usually the anime described as "a bunch of high school girls doing ordinary high school stuff" can bring up several titles.

Take this for example: "Civilian falls into the cockpit of a robot, fights a war." Without thinking, name five anime that fall into this kind of description.

For a given value of civilian, these might apply.

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn
Mobile Suit Victory Gundam
After War Gundam X
Turn A Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED
G-Reco

Did I miss any Gundam shows?

I was thinking more along the lines of the original Macross, Martian Successor Nadesico sort of counts as he was hired as a cook, and Dual Parallel trouble. I'd say Evangelion as well, but technically he did not fall in, but was blackmailed into it.

The adventures of a high school graduate at her new job.
There are probably *dozens* if not more that fit that.

I can't really describe this any other way: Girls riding tanks

Girl makes friends using pink lasers

a guy from a simple diner enters cooking school

a bunch of high school students playing with animated plastic models

bald man in a cape becomes a superhero, nobody notices

teenagers fight over discount microwavable food at convenience stores

angsty teenagers pilot giant robots with the souls of their mothers

guy with hypnotic powers becomes batman, starts a rebellion against evil empire

anthropomorphic personification of canned drinks fight for superiority
1. Sounds a bit off, Girls und Panzer
2. Vita stop tsuning out at Nanoha.
3. Shokugeki no Soma
4. Gundam Build Fighters
5. OPM
6. Bento
7. Evangelion (In case of Rei it is her twin sister, Ritsuko is a filthy liar and commited a mass murder in front of Shinji)
8. Code Geass? I put the ? because Lelouch can't wrestle down a can of juice, so I don't know where the Batman reference comes in.
9. Akikan (huh, I actually managed to remember the name of it without resorting to searching by description on google)

That was only in season 2. Season 1 he didn't have any real difficulty with physical labour.

Loved that manga but that ending... ugh.

At least Umi no Misaki ended better if still kind of strangely and was a better effort from the author.

And my addition would be: Cute girls doing cute things in the [insert setting].
