Bah, the only scene in ALL of FF7 I liked was the one where Diamond Weapon WTFPWNED Rufus and was WTFPWNED back by the Sister Ray. All the other scenes were lame.
Well, that's your opinon and your welcome to it. Personally, I hated the cutscenes in FF7 solely for the fact that I was playing it on PC, and some cutscenes screwed it up and exited the program. Because of the damn cutscene where the weapons awaken, I had to go through the "Cloud giving Sephiroth the Black Materia" scene over 20 times, and that was a freaking long scene to go through. I finally got to the point where I would either do summer reading or play other games while I used my foot to get through the text in the scene in hopes of my computer finally getting past the cutscene.

i meant killed
We know what you mean, it is pretty obvious. GH just found the typo more amusing then the real sentence.

The biggest problems with that cutscene were two. Namely, Tifa's mutant 'real breasts totally don't move that way' tits.

They scared me, and I never used Tifa again past her obligatory parts after that. :( :sick2:

The 'Aeris Dies' scene was, IMO, one of the most emotionally effecting scenes I've ever seen in a game. Of couse, I was considerably less cynical and would still rather be a super hero than a super villain at that point. Go figure.

For those of you that hate Sephiroth as much as I do, read This for a laugh.

Haven't played P&P but twice, D&D, but both had memorable moments... the first one was mostly noobs(including me) in the party. Our cleric, while on watch at night, hears something, and decides to investigate, despite everyone at the table yelling "Don't do it!" But it was pretty humorous and we were all laughing.

In the same game, they yelled at me similarly as I whizzed arrows past the ears of our half-orc as he was fighting the leader of our targets, doing a bit of damage and never once hitting our half-orc. Though it was a close thing...

The second one, with a few more experienced players(and me) but we weren't seriously keeping numbers down, just a fun fast game. We were killing giant mosquitos in the forest, and our Wild Mage decided to fireball the last one that was getting away. The fireball was too big, and scorched some trees. The ground started vibrating, and we started running away, pissed off ents not being a fun thing to meet. We get out of the forest before it gets to us, but keep running in case it decides we're worth the chase. It stops, mutters, and starts to turn around... at the point, our warrior asks how far away from the ent we are. He was told, but said that no, he wouldn't. We asked what, and he said he thought about taunting the ent. A chorus of "DO IT!" Later, the warrior (in game) stops, drops his pants, and bends over, mooning the ent. He looks behind him to see how far away the ent is now, and has time to think "Oh crap how did he get so close so..." Before he's sent flying with some battle scars he won't be showing off. And yes, he made the field goal.

As far as games go...

Disgaea: "Nice to meet you, I'm an assassin!" The point where we all realize just how blonde Flonne really is...

"And a Horse Wiener, all to make the ultimate zombie!" No need to explain this one... well, unless you haven't played it, but then it is kinda hard to explain...

That game had so many LOLWTF!? moments that I don't even wanna try to count them all here...

FFXII: "So... exacly how old are you, anyway?" The stares Vaan got from everyone was just a priceless picture.

Chrono Trigger: One of the early endings. For those of you that have played it, I need only say this: "Ribbit!?" The later one where *gasp!* Crono speaks I haven't gotten yet, but I understand it's definitely on the list.

FFVI: Opera scene. Every time I remember that scene, I'm humming the tune for days.

FFVII: Getting Yuffie. Took me fifteen ghorram tries. Still, despite what idiots say about her, she's a badass character. Being able to deal around 130000 damage (I think her second-to-last limit is 13 strikes...) in one move against uber enemies is not the mark of a weak character. Even if she did fall behind Cloud and Vincent when not equipped with the Conformer...

Grandia II: A lot of places. It really would have been cooler if Ryudo was still on occasion an asshole at the end of the game, but it was still okay. The berries, whatever their name was, with Elena near the beginning, that was funny, "Ryuuuudo... I feel really funnnnny... *Thunk!*" And when they're sealing the Horns, that was a suprising moment, Millenia's switch.

And of course, Ryudo will be forever hailed as the only man in an RPG to have a successful threesome relationship.

Grandia III: It's been too long since I played it, so I can't remember what he said except that it was really bad, but the shiner Miranda gave the pirate was just a classic moment. Just one of those that makes you go "Ouch!"

Disgaea II: Hmm... not near as funny as the first, but one line from the 'best' ending (the only one I've gotten so far...) really sticks out in my mind... "You have friends that care about you! ...and Etna."

I really have to start leveling so I can see the "Laharl Get!" Scene you mentioned... I can't even beat the first round to get Flonne yet...

Though some of the things with Axel were just priceless... "Kids, kids! If you have a problem, the only way to solve it is violence!"

And then there's perv-frog "Monsiour Napoleon Bonerhard!"

Oh, Lunar 2, can't forget "Mystere"

Even funnier was when you found the second Bromide of... hell, what's her name again? Leo's sister. The second Bromide of hers, Ronfar's pose of "Oh goddess why me...?" is just priceless.

Okami: Issun's appearance, when he complains that he was having a nice nap in Sakuya's clothes. And Amaterasu giving him a saliva bath on their first meeting and a few times to shut him up. I also particularly liked the ending, the way everyone really started helping out.

Mario RPG: Thousand year door: THE GREAT GONZALLLLLLLLES!

Also, could someone clear up for me whether Vivian was a girl or a Trap? There seems to be some debate.

End of the first round with the Dark Queen was also memorable in an "She did what!? Oh shi-!" Kinda way...

Baten Kaitos: Betrayed... most unexpected betrayal ever. The final scene was also kinda cool, even if the boss after the final boss was lame.

Dark Cloud: Ruby... :p~

Still haven't beaten that damn game...

.Hack: Uhhh... second or third one, can't remember which... when Mistral leaves. My expression was *gasp!* Nooooooooo! She was one of my favorite characters... and such an unexpected reason, too. I was so happy when she came back... and I actually had a mage that could pwn again. Wiseman was okay, but Mistral still seemed to pwn much better.

I could probably go on, but I'll stop there...

Makai Kingdom: The scene where Alexander first appeared.

"His name is Alexander, God of Destruction. Also known as Alejandro, Asshat or Alex."

"Who's the Overlord now, bitch!?"

Lunar 2: The bath house scene.

Grandia 1: The locker room scene. When Justin and Feena fall off the air ship.

Dragon Quest 3: When you find your father.

Dragon Quest 4: The beginning of Chapter 5. During the ending, when you return to your villiage.

Dragon Quest 5: The wedding sequence. When you find out who you are. When you find out who the "chosen one" really is. Going back in time.

Chrono Trigger: Fall of Zeal.

Chrono Cross: Switching bodies with Lynx.

Couldn't agree more. When Mistral left, I was like '...you've gotta shittin' me'.

Lunar 2:? The bath house scene.
just watched that on youtube... pretty hot except for that stupid flying cat
The 'stupid flying cat' is the everyday, don't-scare-the-puny-roachmonkeys form of a White Dragon with enough power to level a good sized city. You better recognize. Nall is BADASS, looks or not. :snigger:

Ah, Ruby, not Nall. The point does stand. Both are Dragons in small form.

...in fact, I think Ruby is MORE POWERFUL than Nall overall...

Well, she does have an offensive power (Dragon Fire as opposed to Dragon Protect). And even in flying kitty-cat mode, she actually attacks things. She's great at slaughtering dung beetles :D .

FF7
a) When I got past the part where you get the Little Bronko(the plane that flies around the edge of the coast). I played FF7 on a PC, which kept fucking up and quitting every time i managed to get the plane.
b)The Sethiroth and Aeris scene, whe he just drops down the the ceiling.

FF8: Opening movie. Way back when that was THE thing. I just loved it.

Baldurs Gate 2: Right at the start when you are captured by the evil wizard. Minsc is chained the the wall. When you go to talk to him, he asks you to get him out. If you say some stuff to the effect :just a minute, he goes beserk. He gets angry.. "The bars they bend with my BESERKER STREANGH. NOw ... NOw... ohh I see, you almost as smart as boo..." I love that conversation.

SO3:Till the end of time: When I managed to kil Lenneth.

I can NOT believe I forgot about that scene... one of the few RPGs that you actually see the heroine in the buff...

Also from that game, the moment I realized that Ghaleon PLAYED the God of Destruction. Pwnzed, beotch. He's my hero to this day for being so skillfully deceptive and manipulative in that game. Besides, for pure badassness, I don't think he's surpassed by anyone or anything in either game.

And jaredstar, the way she talks is because she's got a misguided belief that she's his girlfriend at that point :snigger:

As far as Nall vs. Ruby... Nall was far more useful, especially when facing tough opponents, because he revived people. Only two in a battle, but it still saved my ass in a couple of fights, usually when my healer fell and I didn't have any Angel's Tears left...

And going slightly off topic, another memorable moment... Half Life 2: Episode One. I'm in pitch-fscking-black tunnels. My flashlight starts to run low on power, so I check for zombies, find none, and turn it off so it can recharge. I hear heavy, raspy breathing, not a sound you hear from a zombie, so I turn my flashlight back on, finger ready to fire at anything that moves... I look around quickly, until my flashlight rests on my ally, Alyx, behind me. "Haha! Gotcha! Just kidding..." She says. One of the few times I have screamed at my computer screen for anything

While we're on the subject of Lunar, does any one remember the whole "Bromide X" fiasco?

Certainly a memorable experience...

Rip off, more like it. Borgan's Bromide burned my eyes for several minutes :sick3:

Baldurs Gate II, Throne of Bhaal, when you ressurrect Sarevok

"I made it! Flesh and blood and bone! I LIVE AGAIN!" - and the voiceacting of Sarevok is so creepily well done its bloody amazing. still gives me the shivers whenever I play ToB again.

Neverwinter Nights, the ending of chapter 2 - sweet Iguana-on-a-Stick, this is just... amazing!

Fallout, when you discover just WHAT the Iguana-on-a-Stick is made of... *barf*

Fallout II - When you enter the Oil Rig at the end and find out just what the plan of the Enclave is (I nominate the Fallout 2 Advanced Power Armor for "Scariest Looking PA ever") (and 3/4 of the rest of the game, it's just so freakin' awesome it defies description. I have played both FAs more times than I care to count, as with all the other games I write of here)

Planescape: Torment - Using the "Symbol of Torment" spell for the first, last, and only time. It's so BLOODY FRIGGN AWESOME it was almost a shame I had talked my way into the Blood War (Remember: Play Lawful Good, take lots of charisma and lots of diplomacy, and whomever you can't con into doing what you want, your buddies can hack to pieces)

X-Com Enemy Unknown - When I finished my first Snakemen Terror Site at night. Jesus, the screams... the aliens.... gaahh! Mustn't reload! Mustn't run!

Jagged Alliance II, when I finished it the first time on Experienced. That was a blast.... one of the most challenging games, ever, and with a good-sized fan- and modbase present.

Hmm... odd, isn't it, that all of them come from old RPGs? The likes of BGII and Fallout/2 will never be made again, I fear.

-edit-

Since I like my games, and the "What Do You Play" thread got me thinking, I replayed the scene with Vhailor in Curst in PS:T again. Ooooh, creepy-crawly feeling of dread as you know that one wrong word dooms your character. :D

When you first get your dragon and then it evolves in Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Also does anybody remember how annoying it was when you were stuck with the floater in the ruins of uru?

Hmm..

Disgaea - Flonnes sacrifice that sparks the final battle of the main plot, Laharl's emotional reaction really had me feeling it. For such a humor based game you really ended up caring about the characters Laharl, Etna, and Flonne esspecially.

Fallout - Dogmeat... the most useful and memorable npc in that game. Most of the humans you recuited were useless but you could always count on that furry can of whoop ass to OWN your enemies, though tragically I couldn' get him to survive the final boss, no matter how much I tried but it did make me feel more justified in killing the bastard.

FF7 - Red XIII's plot in cosmo canyon where he finds out the truth about his father with 'great warrior' playing in the background. Man that was intense. Red was my favorite character though so I guess that makes sense.
