Naruto Naruto Movie 6: Road to Ninja

That's depressing. The fight scenes (and pre-fight scenes) are more-or-less my main motivation for watching the Naruto movies.

Saw It. It was awful.
Plus Point?: Naruto got be the main character instead of Sasuke.
Sasuke didn't even get enough screentime at all, or even do something useful.
Before the Illusion, Naruto Rejected a Ramen Bowl!...because it had Menma in it instead of a Fishcake. He doesn't eat Ramen or at Ichiruka's in the Illusion either. [Shocked!]
Sakura despite being a Medic is a glutton for Processed canned food....without cooking it. I think... It might be a sweet dish.
Kushina-Naruto Manga arc occurred, but Naruto cannot use Rikudou Mode.
Konohamaru doesn't not appear.
Konoha hired the Akatsuki to fight against Menma.
Menma's Jutsu blows up Konoha into a crater and somehow that same Jutsu can't over power Naruto's Rasenshuriken, and it doesn't blow up like another Nuke, and Both Menma and Naruto come out without severed Limbs or burnt/blown up bodies.
Naruto somehow is able to use Hiraishin without knowing the seals or anything. I kept thinking if the Kunai was a Clone over and over. Sadly its the real thing.
Kishimoto wasn't even original with the Fight. Oh Right, Hinata didn't get to kiss Naruto, or do anything with him.

You mean it didn't have Naruto create another variation of the Rasengan which he uses once and never uses again?

Now that is shocking. Colour me surprised.

actually Naruto used an ordinary kunai, threw it so it passed menma's left side, our POV make it seems like it is passing menma like tobi. and naruto did a sort of flip when they are about to clash then proceeds rasengan menma like his fathter did tobi.

ok I checked on youtube, It is indeed a normal Kunai. Menma's head must have been spinning or he was so lost in thought that he didn't even realize that Naruto went airbourne above him, and Naruto somehow falls back down and manages to hit menma in the back perfectly.

@Seitora Naruto indeed doesn't have a new rasengan, but Menma is Naruto...

That makes this the second movie without a new rasengan.

Ok everybody I just cought up with anime and have a protip for you. Watch 311, before watching the movie. Some of the scenes makes more sense in that context.

we've already read the mancha chapter that episode was based on

Assuming everyone got the memo and could be bothered. Still, it was a fun episode anyway.

Edit: Oh, and it looks like the japanese dubs are up. 'Bout time.

What? I mean we've got english subs with japanese voice acting now instead of korean.

...To be honest, I don't even know what the word "dubs" means anyway.

Dubbed. As compared to Subbed. Sub = Subtitled, Dub = Dubbed over. Etc.

I know what it stands for. I didn't know what dubbed meant until I looked it up; I just assumed it was another word for voice-acting.

And I've finally watched the movie. It was lame. I was expecting a lot better when I heard Kishi was responsible for the script. When Oda had the chance, he stepped up and made an awesome movie but Kishi dropped by the ball here.

To me, the only positive aspects were some of the family scenes between Naruto, Minato and Kushina, Akatsuki wtf appearance and how Naruto didn't immediately accept them as his parents which was different from what I expected.

But other than that? All of the fights were lame. The alternate character designs were interesting in concept but shitty in execution; most of them got barely any screen time and I found myself disliking them when they were around. Sasuke and Hinata could have been interesting but the rest were blegh. Sasuke should have had a bigger part in the movie (which is something I never thought I'd say).

And there's probably some other crap I can't recall. If it weren't for that time-travelling movie that bored the shit out of me, I'd consider this the worst one.
I'd really like to see a story using the concept of Road of Ninja to explore it thoroughly. The basic idea was good and the changes seemed interesting so I wouldn't mind seeing it done properly.

Finally watched this myself. Was surprised that given how much they hyped up the reverse personalities, they only matter for like, two scenes, then are never mentioned again.

Lots of plot holes abound, and loads of wasted potential. About what I was expecting.

No idea. I thought it was going to be that Menma had betrayed his family and village for whatever reason whilst Naruto fought him as a his non-evil clone.

I think what happened was that Naruto's presence in the illusion universe displaced Menma and messed with everyone else's memories. Mena lost everything (without consciously realising it) and turned to evil. It may also been a part of Naruto's fantasy to have a powerful antagonist that only he could face so Menma became evil.

That's a Very Good question. I believe it was because Menma lost his family, which is why he wanted the Red Moon Scroll, or so I think.
Except that Menma could have stayed in Konoha, gone to his family, and have shouting match with Naruto. After they were satisfied with Naruto's words about alternative reality, Menma and his family could have come to some truce and found the scroll eventually, or not because Naruto wanted to stay in that reality and decided to make sure the scroll is never found, thus making him the Villain.
Even if he eventually decided to go Back.

remember this was a Limited Tsukuyomy by Tobi, it's possible Menma was evil because Tobi wanted him to be

I'm fairly sure Tobi mentions that he has no control over the illusion. He only gets it started.
