Honestly, I think Lich Negi would be a much more interesting story. while it doesn't play to sexy comedy, it does play to thought provoking. How does he face ethical and moral problems from beyond he grave? Does he still have the boundless optimism and never-say-die attitude as canon Negi? (though that phrase takes on a whole new meaning) How does he handle the mental changes of puberty in a body that will never enter it? How does he relate to his students and help them grow while his humanity and emotions are slipping away from him? Does Eva identify with him, take pity on him and try to help him stay human, or does she torture him to speed his fall?
And most of all, what happens to his sanity when he learns his father is still alive and all his sacrifices have been for nothing?
Also, remember that liches don't go crusty overnight. If Negi is 'fresh', so to speak, he would still look human, or close enough that makeup and/or minor illusion spells would hide his true nature. All but the cold aura, anyway.
