Honestly I'm not even sure that a gun could kill a *person* in the Pokemon universe. That world runs on anime physics where humans can survive explosions, electrocution and being blasted over the horizon without serious injury. I mean this a world where small children are trusted to roam the world alone where they will regularly be attacked by wild pokemon, obviously those people are just made of tougher stuff. A glock would hurt but probably couldn't actually kill anyone.

And that's not even including all the human martial artists who can probably match low level fighting pokemon in physical prowess and all the human psychics with telekinetic power. You pull a gun on a human trainer in the pokemon universe and they might just disarm you faster than you can blink or pull the weapon out of your hand with their minds. There's a reason that even the criminals in those games use pokemon as weapons instead of firearms.

I suppose if humans evolved in a world where super-powered monsters were everywhere, they'd probably be a bit tougher than the baseline norm.

Of course, there's plenty of theories that the Pokemon world we see is a post-war setting. Comments made by Lt Surge, and then of course there's AZ. Plus the Swords of Justice (Musketeer Trio plus 1) apparently "came to the defense of Pokémon that had lost their homes in a war among humans."

"Going Mega doesn't mean going ballistic. You need a serious psyche concentration for it. Stick to me girl and I'll show you how to dominate this new power"

They've examined the Helix Fossil so many times it'll be naught but dust by the time they get to Cinnabar.

Well this picture is somehow both touching and existentially terrifying. The idea of a protagonist who was a normal person who until he received his first pokemon, at which point he immediately became possessed by madness and experienced over 130,000 voices in his head all simultaneously shouting contradictory commands at him non-stop for over two weeks, has got to be one of the most chilling hell on earth scenarios I can imagine.

And now I'm imagining how the protagonist of the last pokemon game I played must have been perceived by his friends and loved ones after I took possession of his body. All those typical min-max power gaming strategies I utilized must have seemed a terrifying transformation of his personality. His mother probably looked on in horror as her previously cheerful, easy going son went about capturing hundreds of beasts he never intended to even train and merely left neglected in boxes simply to satisfy his suddenly acquired obsessive compulsive desire to "catch them all." His rival was probably shocked to discover that his formerly kind and laid back friend was cruelly and systematically mass breeding his pokemon in an effort to create genetically superior warriors, even going to far as to breed mere children with their own parents. Other trainers must have frowned and looked around uncomfortably upon learning that the new champion had attained such powerful monsters through hellish IV training regimes and by pumping them full of powerful performance enhancing drugs. He must have seemed a sociopath to everyone he met on his journey.

In Fire Red, when you fight Blue on the St. Anne, he mentions that he's caught 40 Pokemon, most of which you never see. So I guess he's in no position to casting aspersions on Red.

And regarding the breeding... well, the player doesn't hold a gun to their monster's head and order them to "Breeed." He just drops two Pokemon of the opposite gender off at the day-care centre, and if they're genetically compatible, then if you wait long enough an egg will appear.

Basically, Pokemon all seem to have a very broad-ranging sexuality (HSOWA, anyone?) I mean, just because you dropped a mother and son Pokemon duo off at the daycare centre doesn't mean they have to do the wild thing. They could just get some expensive level up's instead.

...Unless, of course, the Day-care Couple are way more sinister than they first appear. I mean, they say "We were watching your Pokemon, and my goodness were we surprised! Your Pokemon was holding an egg!"

My god. There's probably some very disturbing pay-sites on that world's internet that the player characters would be furious to discover.

I really did not need the mental image of the seemingly kind of daycare couple forcing pokemon to breed with each other against their will and broadcasting the videos of it on the internet. Thanks for ruining my childhood nix.

Well, to be fair, no matter what happens at the Day-care Centre, none of the Pokemon ever show either any signs of mental trauma, or genetic issues from incest. In fact, entirely the opposite, as they'll both level up and become stronger, and, with the right combination, produce off-spring that's inherently superior to the parent of the same species, with better IV's. I suppose that due to inbreeding not being a thing with Pokemon, they never developed a taboo against things that could lead to it.

Pokemon seem to have an "Anything That Moves" attitude, and the Day-care people probably just try to ignore it and collect the resulting eggs.

...I definitely wouldn't want their job.

Edit: Then of course, there's the fact that Genderless Pokemon can still reproduce with Ditto, which makes so little sense you start wondering whether Pokemon even reproduce sexually, despite having gender.

Edit 2: Maybe they're like the Asari!

Pokemon breeding doesn't make any sense even if you assume they don't have sexual intercourse and just trade genetic data and pop out eggs with little effort. (Why do most of them have genders then?). That still doesn't explain how non-organic genderless pokemon like Bronzor, Magnemite, Voltorb, Lunatone, Porygon, etc can breed. They are made out of rocks and metals and plastics and shit, how do they even have genetic data to pass on? And do all those species really depend exclusively on Ditto to perpetuate their own species? How does such a strange symbiotic relationship even evolve, and what does Ditto gain from it?
