Raccoon City

The helicopter is coming in low over Raccoon City. Night is rapidly approaching but the only light coming from the grounds seems to be the occasional fire.

ôThe riots in the city have been going on since yesterday. We deployed a series of recon teams and rapid response squads ten hours ago, but we havenÆt been able to reach them for more then six hours. We have currently no idea why the riots broke out.ö

You can see some of the other UH-60 Black Hawks break formation and soar away towards their respective destinations.

ôWe are being deployed to establish defensive perimeters around vital buildings that belong to the corporation. Our first mission objective is to secure and minimize damage to company assets. Our secondary objective is to offer assistance and support to local police and emergency service during this crisis.ö

ôOur objective is the Bank on the end of Seventy-Fourth Avenue. We will secure the area and keep a constant state of alertness until the authorities have brought the riots under control.ö

The helicopter begins to slow down.

ôSixty seconds! Lock and load!ö

The hatches on the helicopters are pulled open and a cold gust of wind blows into your faces. You can see overturned cars with hundreds, thousands of people walking around aimlessly on the streets below.

ôThere is a crowd around the bank; IÆve got no place to land!ö

The helicopter begins to climb and then moves away from the bank.

ôI see a good spot a couple of blocks away. YouÆll have to move to the bank on foot.ö

The helicopter approaches a tall building, a mall by the looks of it. It is hard to tell from the air, but it is at least ten, perhaps even twenty, stories tall. The helicopter approaches the building and hovers about twenty feet above the roof.

ôBones, Tex, J-Dub! Secure the roof! Miller, Cole, help me unload our equipment cases!ö

Thick ropes secured to the helicopter are thrown out of the hatches and you grab them and begin to slide down.

You hear a loud screech and barely have enough time to see a rocket impact the tail of the helicopter before you lose your grip.

You hit the roof with a thump and when you turn your head to the side you can see that one of the blades from the tail-rotor is solidly imbedded in the concrete roof ten inches from your head.

The helicopter goes out of control and disappears down the side of the building taking rest of your squad with it. You look around the roof and can see that two other members of your squad managed to bail out before the helicopter crashed.

Tex: yells "Fuck!" as he scrambles to his feet, "Everyone all right?" A quick scan on the roof as He unlimbers the Barrett, clears and uses the scope and attempts to see where the Rocket came from, and if there is any more incomming.

Edit: (Hmm.. seems to shortly be the only one able to do anything.)

I take a look at the blade is it salvageable? (note: i don't have long at the moment so you'll have to take actions for me soon, just don't kill me to save yourselves about 10 mins. before i've got work)

Terrabull: The mall is one of the tallest buildings in this part of the city, and unless you stand on the edge of the roof there is no way that anyone can see you from the ground or any of the nearby buildings. You look in the general direction from which the rocket cam, but after only a quick glance you realize that there are hundreds of possible locations that someone could have fired the rocket from.

Shout27: The blade from the rotor is twisted and badly deformed. You might be able to pull it out of the concrete and use it as a club, but you would probably be better off using your combat knife or a lenght of iron-pipe.

Tex: Curses again before attempting to raise anyone else on the helmet radio's, scanning frequencies, the other choppers and teams.

First and Second squad doesn't respond to your hails and neither does their helicopters. You try Third squad's, but receive nothing but static. Not strange considering that most of Third squad just fell twenty stories down in an out of control helicopter; the two other survivors from third are looking around the roof behind you.

You continue to go through the radio freq, and after awhile you finally get an answer.

"This is Fourth Squad, we hear you loud and clear Third."

(i've only got snatches of time to post) i'll let Terrabull talk with Fourth and find out what's going on, i'll also recover the tail-Roter you never know when you might need a piece of metal, i'll also look around the roof for exits and anything useful.

Tex: replies. "Fourth Squad, this is Third, our ride was taken out by a Ground to Air, We have taken Heavy Casualties, We have a unknown number of heavily armed hostiles surrounding our current position, Our primary LZ was unavailable so we had to divert to a Secondary, We will be delayed getting to our objective, we have been unable to contact First and Second Squads as well, Can you attempt to contact the other Squads and advise HQ of our current situation."

Another look around as relaying the information.

"Roger that Third, I'll warn the flyboys about hostile SAM activity in the city. Do you have any ID on the attacker? We are currently just outside of Raccoon City General Hospital, we haven't encountered any hostiles... we haven't encountered anyone at all. We will secure the hospital and when thats done I'll send a team over to pick you up, any wounded? First and Second squad is currently outside radio-range, and it will be at least another hour before they will be able to contact us. Hang in there, Fourth out."

Tex: nods and replies. "Roger that Fourth, Most of the Squad and supplies was still aboard the Chopper when it was hit, No survivors expected from the height and crash, we will attempt to reach our objective on foot to secure and meet up with your team, we will procure alternate means of re-supply until then, be careful out there, Night is comming and with it, lots of potential places for hostiles to ambush, Third Out."

"Roger that, estimate that it will take three hours to secure a perimeter. We will radio in once we're done. Over and out."

The radio falls silent.

You hear a grunt and metal groaning behind you. One of your squadmembers has removed one rotor-blades from the concrete roof.

Apart from your two team-members and a small concrete hut with a metal door the roof is completely empty.

Tex: looks around the rooftop, how well lit it is (In case of illumination from behind) and takes out his binoculars, crouching and crawling to the roof top edge looking over to confirm the condition of the crash, and surrounding areas of potential hostiles and places to re-supply, besides the mall they are atop.

It's getting darker, but there is enough light for you to see the street below. Everything seems deserted, and the road is littered with abandoned cars and as well as the occasional burned out wreck.

Your helicopter is lying in the middle of the street, it is lying on its side but it seems to be mostly intact. The forward windshield is cracked and stained with blood, and there is a mangled corpse hanging from the side hatch.

You slowly move your binoculars to observe the shops at street level, most seem to be apartment complexes. You also spot a bakery, a cafee, an ice cream parlor and an computer store.

Tex: does one more complete scan, then off in the direction of the bank, before nodding and informing the rest. "I don't know where the SAM came from, and now the streets look deserted, where we could not land before.. the whole situation stinks, but lets move out, down into the mall and outside to the chopper, see what is salvagable before heading off to the bank, this position seems too exposed, and in the darkness, it might not be our friend, sound all right with you guys?"

there was only the one rotor blade, right?
Four or five pieces.
------------

It grows progressively darker until the sun finally sets. You can barely make out the forms of your teammates in the darkness. The wind picks up and you can feel a cold gust of wind against your body.

Tex: recieves no objections and makes his way to the hut on the rooftop, if it opens inwards or outwards, and if there looks like a alarm, attempt to disable it, because if there is someone waiting down there, it would bring others to us?

The door is locked, but you see no obvious alarm system. As you lean in to take a closer look you see a crowbar lying in the dirt next to the door.

Tex: see's the crowbar and takes it, offering it to one of the others, if they take it, okay, if not, puts it away before attempting to pick the lock from this side. (Taking 10? or 20?)

You take your time slowly working on the lock. A few moments later the lock gives off an rusty click and you retract your lockpicks. The door is now unlocked.

(rolled an 18=success)

(How do you want to do the rolls, should I roll all of them or should I try and find a page that allows us to login and roll our dices ourselves? Someone mentioned somethin about OpenRPG, should I take a look into it?)

(I vote to let you do it, as sometimes it is nessecary for you to know things, like if we failed and know it, some may try again?)

Tex: laughs a bit before nodding, and looking for some scrap to keep the door open and not locking behind us, in case we need to retreat back this way, making sure everyone is ready if we need to move fast, then the moment of truth to open the door, and if there is an alarm. (Is there emergency lights comming from the other side? Would the mall emergency gennys cut in if power went out?)

The door opens with a creak of rusty hinges and you see nothing but absolute darkness.

Tex: snorts, then shoulders the Barrett over his shoulder, and pulls out his flashlight and pistol, flicking the light on, one hand holding each, facing the same direction as he leads the way down the emergency stairs?

Your flashlight dance across concrete walls and you can see a staircase that leads down. The stairs creak underneath your feet. From the top of the stairs you can see a small room at the bottom. A door is clearly visible at the bottom, a metal cabinet is mounted on the wall next to it.

The only things in the room apart from the door and cabinet is a small workbench with tools strewn across its surface and a small office chair in a corner.

Tex: goes down first, flashing the light down into the depths to make sure all is clear, once there next to the cabinet, looks around for a set of keys, if not obvious, the workbench drawers, under the bench, walls and opens the cabinet looking for such, if this is a maintence mans office, there may be keys to the whole building, making access easier? As well as anything else useful, spare flashlights? Maybe a blueprint of the building on the fastest ways in and out? Hopefully making the least ammount of noise as possible, in case others are outside?
