Harry Potter Random Ideas

Now, here's something that just opped into my head. The hard part was trying to find a line in the book to insert the neat bit.

ôCAR CRASH!ö roared Hagrid, jumping up so angrily that the Dursleys scuttled back to their corner. ôHow could a car crash kill Lily anÆ James Potter? ItÆs an outrage! A scandal! Harry Potter not knowinÆ his own story when every kid in our world knows his name!ö

ôBut why? What happened?ö Harry asked urgently.

The anger faded from HagridÆs face. He looked suddenly anxious.

ôI never expected this,ö he said, in a low, worried voice. ôI had no idea, when Dumbledore told me there might be trouble gettinÆ hold of yeh, how much yeh didnÆt know. Ah, Harry, I donÆ know if IÆm the right person ter tell yeh û but someoneÆs gotta û yeh canÆt go off ter Hogwarts not knowinÆ.ö

He threw a dirty look at the Dursleys.

ôWell, itÆs best yeh know as much as I can tell yeh û mind, I canÆt tell yeh everythinÆ, itÆs a great mystÆry, parts of it àö

He sat down, stared into the fire for a few seconds and then said, ôIt begins, I suppose, with û with a person called û but itÆs incredible yeh donÆt know his name, everyone in our world knows ûö

ôWho?ö

ôWell û yer dad was the Thousand Master."

Heh.

That sounds vaguely familiar, but I'm in the middle of a massive brain fart. Exactly where does 'Thousand Master' come from? And I'm assuming that this means Harry's due to inheirit some sorta skills/powers/postition in the world.

When I watched that show, HP was the first thing that came to my mind. I was like "sweet Harry Potter anime!" The plot is pretty odd but fun as well.

I don't like this because I don't like Negima. To be quite honest, it bores and annoys me. So I don't think I'd ever read this story.

I do like Negima, and I'd read this in a heartbeat if it was written.

I haven't seen either the anime or the manga, and even I know claiming Negima is an anime version of Harry Potter is extremely insulting.

I read that stylistically, Negi is based on Harry, both of them being short-sighted British boy-wizards. Unlike the angsting Harry, though, Negi is a much more cheerful, upbeat, and positive chap.

Well that, and the characters actually act like semi civilized human beings.

HP has influence Negima a lot. That isn't in doubt. The tone and plot of the stories is completely different though. HP is about him going through school and his conflict with Voldie. Negima is about Negi after he finishes school and his attempts to live up to and find his father.

To be fair, Harry's friends were nicer in the first three books, and I'm told that Hermione's behavior in Book Sucks 'came out of left field', so to speak.

I'm referring to the fact that the so called "wizarding world", which is not even a continent, turns on each other just because the "Daily Tabloid" tells them to. The structure of their society, and the way people act, is about as believable as the attittudes of the people in the Marvel universe. There is too much suspension of disbeliefe, even if you believe that all people are sheep.

To be fair, people in real life turn on the people they read about in the papers. Its normal behavior.

Exactly.

T. H. White said that the mass of men could be divided into "... one wise man, nine knaves, and ninety fools."

I'd say he's mostly right, but I don't limit it to one sex, and I represent humanity as ninety sheep, eight wolves, a dog, and a cat. The behavior of the wizards and witches in Britain after reading the paper is, IMHO, one of the most realistic aspects of the whole series. To think otherwise is, I believe, naive optomism.

In Harry Potter everybody turns on people based on what they read in the paper. That is not believable. There are allways people who don't listen. Not everyone is a mindless sheep. And many people don't trust the media or the government.

Yes, but the majority do, and apart from his friends, Harry rarely hears from those who don't.

also someone who doesn't believe in a muck story is less likely to send the subject a letter saying that they don't believe the story than a person who does will to send a letter of hate or rage to the subject.
