Reincarnation, Nanoha Cross

Pick a couple of characters from a series, and have them discover that they are reincarnations of Takamachi Nanoha and Fate Testarossa, some time after this happened:

Preferably, it should be people who are already friends, already a couple, or where one has a crush on the other - for example, my original thought for this idea was Haruno Sakura recalling Nanoha's life, and then discovering that Naruto was once Fate (or that Ino was Fate, and Naruto was Yuuno). Another was for Ayanami Rei, or one of the other Eva pilots, to have once been Nanoha (imagine how Nanoha would feel about Gendo's plan), and another of the pilots or their friends to have been Fate. After some thought, I decided to post a more general version of the idea here, as it could work for a number of different series.

Assume that their new bodies have Linker Cores of decent strength, so they can use their magic, or at least, the aspects they can use without their Devices. Given time, they should be able to build new devices, and/or an interdimensional communicator, and contact the TSAB. Depending on the universe they've been reborn in, that should lead to some interesting changes. How big a mess would Nanoha!Zero and Fate!CC make of Code Geass, for example?

Zero would request a knightmare frame that was designed to be durable and cast magic from inside the frame. Who needs super nukes when you have attacks like that.

Or how about Nanoha!Kallen and Fate!Shirely? They were friends already, and the betrayal of Kallen revealing herself to be a Black Knight during the Tokyo uprising adds tension. Perhaps use of Geass starts the awakening of their past lives?

Which puts Lelouch in a very hot seat once they figure it out. OTOH the birth of 'The Demon Zero and his three Witches' could have some milage, even worse if everyone assumes it's Zero's Harem. Complete with him muttering that one finds sex boring, and the other two are more interested in each other... :sweat:

I'm not seeing the appeal here. If Kallen and Shirley really were reincarnations then you also have to take into account that Shirley really, really, loved Lelouch, and Kallen admired Zero for a long while in the series. The way you talk it sounds like just replacing two characters in Code Geass with Fate and Nanoha irregardless of the memories and personality they have now.

Also let it be known that Lelouch really wasn't all that interested in sex either...

Nanoha reincarnates in a young lad by the name of Ryu who starts learning martial arts until he ends up in a video game where he can spam beam attacks (Capcom vs ....), while Fate ends up on a blond lad by the name of Ken...

AFAICT from the OP the reincarnations will have had their own lives, prior to 'awakening', so some differences between their current and old feelings to be expected. Could be played for seriousness or crack as the new and old feelings come into conflict.

Pure Crack, Fate and Nahona as Rei Hino and Usagi Tsuinko? See Luna driven to drink. Watch Ami stay for study/hacking sessions once the two remember and start pulling out Midchilda magic equations. Of course things will be much shorter, given competent battle hardened Magical Girls with Ridiculous Overkill levels of firepower. For example, D-Point, "We have to fight our way through the base and all it's defenders...

Now, Nanoha, with the magitek, is a series where I think this isn't really possible. My ability to suspend disbelief is stretched too thin, when you take the characters from a series where magic is explained as science and include something as mystical as reincarnation.

Well, it becomes a little more believable if Lost Logia were involved.

Some Lost Logia that goes around absorbing mages ends up faced off against all of the former Division 6 and their buddies, and manages to absorb them just before being blasted with an Arc-en-Ciel. The vast power it just ate interferes with the dimension-warping blast, resulting in the Lost Logia being displaced in time and space, rather than being destroyed.
