Evangelion Ryoji Kamina?!

Ok, for those of you who've seen TTGL, you would know that, essentially, Shinji = Simon.

However, Simon + Kamina - Kamina = BADASS!SIMON!

So, what if Kamina was there instead of Kaji.

Kamina: "You don't have to believe in yourself, Shinji. Believe in me, who believes in you!"

Kamina: "Shinji, your strength is the strength that will pierce the Heavens!"

Kamina: *To Gendo* "WHO THE %@#$## DO YOU THINK WE ARE?!"

And what if his badassness actually inspires not only Shinji, but also Rei and Asuka?

Shinji: "The two paths between Human and Angel, intertwine to create the path of the Spiral!"

Rei: "...the screams of life throughout the universe, breaking through destiny..."

Asuka: "...blazing a new path through the Heavens..."

Shinji: "A path for others to follow into the future, the union of Fate...."

Shinji, Rei, Asuka: "TENGEN TOPPA NEON GENESIS EVANGELION!"

I realize this idea is a little undercooked. But it suddenly occured to me and I felt I really needed to share it with someone and bounce it back and forth to develop it. :lol:

Though in actuality, this is the applicable formulae for possible Simons.

Simon + Kamina - Kamina = Shinji!Simon

Shinji!Simon + Nia = Badass!Simon

Badass!Simon + Anti-Spiral = Hero!Simon

Badass!Simon otherwise Evolves into SpiralNemesis!Simon, as displayed in episode one.


You could apply the same formula with Shinji. Without throwing in Kamina before Kaji actually appeared, it becomes a bit difficult, but not so much if he sticks around. Kamina wouldn't take long to teach Shinji Courage. Kamina's death, however, would send him even deeper into depression. If he's started to utilize Spiral Power in his Eva, or even if he hasn't, this is going to kill his combat ability. Asuka will of course have fallen for him, probably more seriously than the other sap, and is not stopped by his reluctance but because of complete cluelessness on his part.

Though I can't see Rei acting like Nia, I would understand if she felt she needed to return the other two pilots to optimal combat ability. Shinji would have to explain what exactly Kamina meant to him, as would Asuka, and Rei would probably make the same sorts of observations as were given to Simon. She'll probably be a bit harsher about it, but she would come to the same conclusions. After the Angel that Shinji failed against recovers from the N2 mine they used to slow it down, and the base is falling down around their ears, Shinji is finally going to have that revelation that he was not and could not be Kamina, that he must do what he can and that's all. Unit-01 rips itself from the moorings, reaches through to Shinji's holding cell, picks him up and puts him in the cockpit.

Asuka and Rei, trying to hold it off and failing, are suddenly surprised as Unit 01 busts through the floor and lays just enough smackdown on the angel that it stops for a minute. The front of the Evangelion opens up (which it should NOT be able to do) and Shinji gives his Epic Speech before laying an unholy amount of whoopass on the angel.

After that, Asuka will want to know how he did that, and of course there will be the argument of philosophies when Kamina's death comes up. "I am not a doll" paralells nicely with "I am not my bro" don't you think? Asuka's competitiveness leads her to try and emulate Shinji's impossible feats, which she eventually does. The call of "Gattai!" might be in use here.

Rei's conversion would be similar, as she tries to find out from him how he's doing it on the Commander's Orders.

On that note, Gendo, Fuyutsuki, and SEELE are going to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to figure out what the hell is going on. This was not in the Scenario, to say the least.

Anywho, Rei is going to talk to him, and he'll return the same line she gave him: She is not the Commander, nor is she his doll. If she wants to know how he's doing it, she's going to have to realize that. When she does, she'll be joining them as well.


The End will go quite differently. Rei isn't going to have any 3I at all, "A man fights, even if it means death!" is a statement she'll have heard and will put her faith in. Asuka will be much stronger, and for real, not to mention that Shinji will be supporting her, so the mindrape will only put her out of it for a bit instead of turning her into a vegetable. With all three of them up and active, the fight with the Mass Produced Evas will go rather differently (especially since they for some reason don't require batteries now). If Gendo succeeds... and Lillith rises to convert the world to orange goo... she won't get very far.


As far as the JSDF invasion goes... I see Shinji getting one of the bridge bunnies to put him up on all frequencies. Denouncing SEELE's plans for what they really are. The soldiers, of course, knowing they're helping with the end of the world, are going to think twice before taking over NERV.


Also, Kamina as Misato's old boyfriend is worth serious lulz. :rofl:

But that's just my thoughts. Somebody toss something else in, make it more interesting.

Despite my opinion that Gurren Lagann was only the cheesiest piece of cheese ever concocted, this idea intrigues me. Having Kaji's death lead to a more badass Shinji isn't necessarily a bad thing. But does this mean Misato has to take up Yoko's unofficial title of Doombitch? Cause that won't bode well for Shinji if she still has to kiss him like in EoE.

Ryoji Kamina's 1st Rule of Making It Work in a New World: WAIT
FOR THE TRANSITION TO FINISH BEFORE CHANGING YOURSELF.

During the first few days of my new life I had a hard time adjusting to
the fact that this guy I replaced had no fighting spirit AT ALL! His hair
was weird, he had this itchy stubble on his chin all the time, Hell he just
stood by while these SEELE bastards talked about some dumb thing
called Instrumentality! Glad I forgot whatever the hell that was.

But I guess someone was weirded out by my new attitude since I was
called before these guys and got chewed out for all this stuff...No one
wears sunglasses any more, SEELE Operatives shouldn't get Tattoos,
blah blah blah. Just cause they don't have any style doesn't mean I
shouldn't.

That's when things got hairy...or started to, anyway.

"Mr. Ryoji, it has become apparent that your new attempts at 'A youthful
style' are interfering with your duties here." spoke Keel Lorenz, the man
in charge of SEELE. "Since this is the case we-"

Whatever else the visored man was going to say was overshadowed by
a strange...ripple...passing outward from Kamina's perceptions and
passing through everything around him...changing people's positioning,
what they were saying...and what they were now holding. Whereas
before he held his shades in his hand, now a picture of what looked like
Simon's Lagann was in it's place.

"-ince the scrolls tell of something called "The Power of the Spiral" which
could be of use to NERV I am making it your duty to deliver the robot
and the other artifacts uncovered in the dig to Ikari and his people.
Also Unit 02 and the Second Child shall accompany you. Is that
understood Mr. Ryoji?"

Still a bit dazed from the odd event just now Kamina could only nod
slightly.

~What the Hell was that?!~

Nodding his approval Lorenz dismissed Kamina with some parting words.
"And while you're out there, get some more practical sunglasses
Kamina. While we may overlook your gaudy taste in eyewear here I will
not have you be a laughing stock in the field."

The leader of the Gurren Brigade stiffened slightly before nodding again
and hurrying off to prepare for his assigned task. Walking the halls in
silence Kamina pondered what had just happened.

~Ok...that was weird. One minute he's chewing me out for my
shades...the next that big wave thing goes over and everything
changes. And it's like I'm the only one who saw that...and why is Lagann
here? What the !@#$ is going on?!~

In the end I figured it would work out ok so long as I could reach
Shinji and give my part in fighting these Angel guys. There was some
good news though. I got my old hair back, and that damn stubble came
off and stayed off. AND everybody around wasn't all weirded out like
before!

This sounds absolutely Cracktastic! Additionally, I can't get stop thinking about an image of Misato wielding a sniper rifle as big as she is, a sniper rifle powerful enough to damage a mecha.

...Combining with the Geo-Front sounds kinda lame. Besides Tokyo-3 is already the Fortress City. Although...Infusing a huge dose of Spiral Power into the MAGI sounds good.

I'm thinking of somewhere down the line having Kamina get hurt but put into a coma...one that no one thinks he'll pull out of. That should simulate the death experience needed for Shinji to bring out his inner badass. Add to that....Rei II showing her Angel powers by helping Kamina recover afterwards.
When asked why she replies, "I am...merely doing what is required of me as a...friend...of Kamina-san."

I am not going to turn our favorite shades-wearing sword-using hero into a disposable crutch. If you don't like that, tough.

Eva Gattai is gonna be hard to pull off...unless...Of Course! Jet Alone + Lagann = Awesome!

Another way to go about this would to not actually involve TTGL, except Kamina, at all. Have Kamina be Misato's boyfriend from college that went on to become a SEELE agent in...whatever way. I dunno, human evolution seems like it fits with Kamina's view.

Course, when he finds out it means taking away individuality....

Actually, the whole "Gattai with the Geofront" thing probably won't be necessary. Remember, they usually went with the "bigger and better" approach in response to the size and overwhelming power of an enemy; in Eva, there aren't any enemies with that kind of size.

Of course, there is the suggestion that you could/should redo the Angels' designs to increase the Epic Factor.

Character-wise: If you make Misato a Doombitch, I will rape your nostrils with a telephone pole.

Rei - with her being an artificial being, will she actually be able to use Spiral Power? She seems more like Viral in that respect.

Asuka - Well, basically have the relationship between her and Shinji mirror that of Kamina and Kittan, and it should work - only ramp up the competitiveness, of course.
I see the "mindrape Angel" being screwed horribly. TTGL shows us you can overcome things messing with your head, and being in orbit is no defense against the ones who can pierce the heavens.

Shinji - it's important to remember that, even with Kamina's legendary ability to inspire courage, he's still Shinji. Being a total pussy isn't all there is to him - just most of it.


Also, Lordgenome!Gendo is an idea that makes me lol, hard.

So How about Viral!Kaoru that chase after Shinji all over to the end just to be one of the pilot of Evangelion. He could always use the MP Eva to battle but he need to appear early in the story.

Hmm no wait the 3 is silly but it could go there, But the Dread misspell isnt actually a misspell just a veriation on the spelling.
