Evangelion Ryoji Kamina?!

I agree on the part about only Kamina being involved, and leaving the TTGL archetypes out.

If you do it like that, it'll only be a shade of the two series, nothing new, nothing brilliant. However, if you make/replace Ryoji with Kamina or give him his attitude, and use that to try and encourage Shinji, this might be undeniably awesome.

Though, there are a few issues; Gendo's reaction to Kajimina trying make Shinij grow a pair and whether or not Spiral Power should be along in the series or if Shinji should merely be kickass within the limitations of Eva.

Gendo wants a pawn; a Shinji he can use and guide to the goals he wishes, and he's done that by having had Shinji grow up like he has. A spine would be most troublesome.

How would an Eva react to spiral power? Start going on OVERDRIVE and start shinning and making explosions explode?

I also agree that Kajimina needs to live, TTGL was about Simon. This should be about the characters of Eva interacting with a man like Kamina.

--
"So who is this guy exactly, Misato-san?"
Misato flinched and sighed, before she could answer, the man jumped up and slammed his foot on the table, and as Shinij looked up he realized that the man was wearing once again the ridiculous orange glasses.
"OU! OU! OU! Who the hell do you take me for?"
The jock and the geek stared dumbfounded at the seemingly flaming man while Asuke regained her lovestruck eyes.

"...He used to be my boyfriend..."

"I see..."

The "Gattai with the GeoFront" Needs to be an Omake, at least. Probably works better that way, actually.

*smiles* I'm glad folks like it...I get kinda nervous if no one comments on what i'm writing. For or against I wanna hear opinions.

But not to worry friends, only Kamina, the Core Drill, and the Lagann unit have been transplanted. The first to offset horrid destruction by emo-pansies...the second and third to allow for the introduction of Spiral Power and Awesome Gattai action!

I assume that this is going to be Super Robot Story. It needs all the Gattai that it can have. Since Kamina will be influencing Shinji he need to be there from the start how about have him the one that pick up Shinji instead of Misato and have Misato be the guardian of Asuka instead of Kamina.

Kamina need to take Shinji in so that he can corrupt Shinji early and fast. ^_^

Just imagine Lagann + Eva1 + Eva2 + Eva3 + Jet Alone + Geo Front + Tokyo 3 = Super Jet Grand Fortress Geo Eva Lagann 3. :p

NO.

Actually I take that back.

HELL NO!

Stuff like that is Omake material ONLY.

Anyway I have a few ideas for the new Shinji and Evas...BUT FIRST!

---

All in all that trip to that Germany village was pretty cool, even though
I couldn't really understand most of the folks there. But seeing Asuka
and that HUGE Ganmen, heh...started to feel like I was home. If only
Simon... *sigh* I wonder if Simon is ok. I remember that dream I had
of him and everyone else...hope they're ok.

Anyway, After i received Unit 02 we made the trip by something called a
bullet train then a nice looking battleship named 'Over the Rainbow'.
I'm just glad I got some memories from this Kaji guy so I don't need to
ask what a rainbow is. Asuka kinda reminds me of Yoko...maybe she'll
fill out a bit more when she grows up. She's definitely got fighting spirit
though, maybe even enough to move Lagann.

I'll have to do it if she can't though....

Simon...

Sorry, I may need to borrow your strength for a time.

---

It was a bright, cloudless day in the Sea of Japan as the UN fleet sailed
on towards Tokyo 3. At the foremost point of the bow stood the former
leader of the Gurren Brigade enjoying the view. Alongside him was his
charge, Asuka Langley Sohryu, the pilot of Evangelion Unit 02. But along
with them and the enormous war machine was a smaller unit being
transported, one only Kamina secretly knew how to operate.

Whereas before Kamina would have gone shirtless, He now settled for a
white dress shirt buttoned up to the second-to-top rung along with black
slacks and a pair of shined black leather work boots. His trademark
orange shades and confident smirk were on his face, and his hair was in
the style he normally kept.

Asuka was comfortably leaning on the guard rail in a pastel-yellow
sundress and white slippers with the head ornaments from her plugsuit
in her long red hair.

Their silent contemplation of the sea and sky was soon broken by the
Second Child's inquiry. "Kamina? What's the Third like?"

"Mm? Shinji? Haven't met him yet, so I can't say. I hear he's pretty quiet
though, so try to show him some of our Team Gurren Spirit!"

Asuka's grin brightened by several kilowatts as she pumped a fist into
the air. "Right Kamina-sama! I'll blow him away with the spirit of me and
Unit 02!"

In the several month journey from Berlin to Japan Kamina practiced
being a good brother for Shinji by practicing on Asuka. Though still
headstrong, her pride was now being channeled inwards strengthening
her resolve and courage. It helped that her crush on the dimensionally
displaced Kamina made her more inclined to listen to him in general.
This new Asuka was sure in her abilities, determined to succeed, and
spirited enough to lead should no one else step up to.

But soon that spirit would be put to the test as the Underwater Angel,
Gaghiel, zipped through the Pacific waters towards its targets while the
transport chopper carrying Shinji, Misato, Toji and Kensuke touched
down on deck of the battleship.

Randomness:

Kamina idly fiddled with the Core Driff as Ritsuko continued to perform maintenence of the MAGI system. He didn't really understand any of this crap, but she had asked for some help, and what kind of man would he be if he left her in the lurch?

Still, this definitely wasn't his scene, and all he really did was pass keyboards back and forth, along witht eh occassional wrench. All in all, a very boring prospect.

Boring enough that he was starting to think outside the box, in the hopes that at least SOMETHING would happen.

"I wonder if the Core Drill would work with this..." Kamina mumbled aloud, spotting a small slot that looked about the right size. Ignoring the various lectures regarding proper procedure and safety. The Drill lit up, just in time to catch Ritsuko's eye and for her to realize what he was about to do.

"WAIT! DON'T DO THA-"

Too late. With a dramatic FWOOSH, and massive surge of green light, the MAGI system began to alter, to change.

To evolve.

When the lightshow was over, both Scientist and Man stared in disbelief at the sight before them. The MAGI no longer existed, replaced with a trio of women. Their bodies recreated and enhanced by the power of the Spiral.

"Mom?!" Ritsuko gaped, staring at her resurrected mother(s).

Her very NAKED resurrected mother(s), Kamina noted. Adhering to his philosophy of manly spirit, he said the only thing he could think of.

"Wow... your mom's REALLy hot..."

The Ironic thing is: I was thinking of a similar thing for the Evas...since in a way we are gonna veer away from the biomech engines of DOOM.

If the giant robot doesn't carry the "ugly, yet awesome" descriptor, it's wrong.

Okay, I think I've hit on a major potential problem with this.

It's about Kamina himself.

See, we watch the show, and we see the effects he has on people's lives - inspiring others with his courage, forming the Great Gurren Brigade, being the first to jack beastmen's Ganmen, etc. - and we realize, from an analytical perspective, that Kamina's purpose for existing was to elevate Simon to awesome levels of... well, Awesome.

However, from a subjective take on it - namely, Kamina's - it wasn't that way at all. To Kamina, the only reason he could ever stand up tall, bitchslap a Ganmen's OS, fight to his last, and make impassioned speeches that roused the Hot Blood in all who hear them... was Simon.

Without Simon, Kamina would have been a no-name crook, likely fated to waste away his best days in a jail cell and swallowing his impotent rage at never being able to reach the surface again.

This Kamina has had his Simon, yeah. But... now he doesn't. He's in a new and strange world, separated from his 'brother', and with no knowledge of Spiral Power or its possibilities. He has no way of getting in touch with Simon, and I'm pretty sure he'd know this.

Which brings me to another point: Spiral Power. Kamina never awakened to it. For all he knew, all the badassery and Gattai awesome were something only Simon and his Lagann could do. It takes courage and an unbreakable will to do even the most impossible of tasks, and without Simon, Kamina does not have those qualities.
And again, I'm certain he'd know it. Kamina never lied to himself about that.

Now, I won't say the fic is now impossible - it damn well isn't - but if it's going to be any good, you're going to have to look at what these things mean to the story, the characters, and the plot, and explore them as thoroughly as you can. You'll have to think about it before you proceed much further.

It's ALIVE!!! No, seriously, it is. Couldn't think of good fight scene for longo time. Anyway...

---

I really think it has to be said, these EVA things are creepy. Really
Creepy. As in: HOW THE HELL COULD SOMEONE SACRIFICE A WOMAN JUST
TO TURN THE DAMN THING ON?!

Good thing I managed to fix that problem with Gurren II. I'm just glad
Asuka has her mom back and I kicked that angel's ass. Course now I have
to report to the Commander of NERV about the incident...and I still don't
know how I did it.

Better start at the beginning so I can get it straight.

First thing I should talk about is meeting Shinji, I suppose.

---

there is more...but it won't come out quietly!!

The trick, I think, would be to introduce Kamina to Shinji much, much earlier. Kamina, assuming it is the Kamina that died in battle, would be able to identify Shinji with Simon. Or at least a Simon that never had a Kamina to inspire him.

For, while from the subjective Kamina drew strength from Simon, from the same point of view, the inverse is also true. Without Kamina, Simon would never have had the will to become what he became, or discover Spiral Power. The question being, what came first? Kamina drawing strength from Simon, or Simon drawing confidence from Kamina?

The example of the cave-in situation seems to suggests that Kamina started acting the supremely confident part before he recognized Simon's strength. Simon, in the same example, believed in that act which, as Kamina became aware that Simon believed in him, made Kamina's confidence real rather then acted.

However, that is not to say that without Simon, Kamina is nothing. This Kamina died for Simon and the others, knowing that they fully believed in him and his ideals and dreams. Even in another world, where humanity lives on the surface, the dreams he had of freeing humanity from oppression and going to the stars are still alive. To betray those dreams by giving up would be to betray the faith that the Dai Gurren Dan and Simon had in those dreams, something I don't believe Kamina would do. At first, in his confusion, he may be much more subdued and taciturn.

However, when introduced to Shinji, Kamina would undoubtably recognize the need Shinji has, just like Simon did after his parents' death and even before that event, for a positive, confident role model. Ergo, he becomes once more the Demon Leader of the Dai Gurren Dan.

I love it when ppl get it like I do.

Exactly Green, Simon IS the reality bending engine of AWESOME...

BUT, Kamina was the key for it to turn on.

The whole 'Believe in me who believes in you!' is the very path that scene took. Kamina believed in Simon, who believed in Kamina, who believed in Simon.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Now it's Shinji's turn. He gets going when someone believes in him, but can't believe in himself. So Kamina will believe in Shinji, who believes in Kamina.

Now as for Spiral power, Toraneko and I hashed out something together that works...though the delivery's a bit...used. What I mean is that the other EVA-Gurren Lagann cross here in the forum did it first...guess I'll just have to do the same thing a different way.

Hmm...that could work...

I didn't like Simon near as much as Kamina...always felt like he was a pale copy. Oh well.

Anyways, I still think this would be done much less clumsy if it was essentially the "reincarnation" of Kamina. Not actually him from another universe, but the reimagining of him in the Evangelion universe.

Yes. Call me Delta, if you would.

One other thing I thought of when observing the relationship between Kamina and Simon during the battles was the following.

At first, when Spiral Energy manifested, it did not obey Simon's wishes. Or rather, he did not consciously or even subconsciously command the effects his Spiral Energy produced. Sometimes, it even went against what he considered to be the correct or sane path, instead following the crazy ideas of Kamina, who seemed to manipulate the Spiral Energy with unbelievable ease. Why?

My little hypothesis was that Spiral Energy, at least with a potent but untrained or emotionally unstable producer of it, could be commanded by a normal human with a strong enough will when the main user does not possess the will necessary to command it.

In that case, then one could imagine that the true purpose of Gattai was to provide a handler or controller to the Spiral Energy of the user. Thus, while Simon was the most powerful producer of Spiral Power ever known, Kamina was a natural manipulator of Spiral Energy, one with enough innate talent to command the prodigious amounts of Spiral Energy of Simon.

Consider that Simon, throughout the series, always had problems with producing the wanted result with his Spiral Power, always struggling to bring out the needed output or to manipulate it in the needed fashion, while Kamina easily caused the results he wanted, when he wanted, so long as Simon produced the Power needed ( and sometimes Kamina even seemed to provoke Simon's production of Spiral Power when Simon was not in the mindset needed to access it).

By the same train of thought, one can observe that Simon always required a co-pilot or two to control Gurren-Lagann, while Lord Genome, an equally powerful producer of Spiral Power, never seemed to need such a crutch, even in the beginning of his life as a Spiral Knight as revealed by Parallel Works 8, to pilot Lazengann or simply to produce Spiral Energy.

We can make the supposition that Lord Genome was, unlike Simon perhaps, gifted in both his ability to produce Spiral Power and to manipulate it, thereby making the need for a co-pilot null. Or simply discard my theory as worthless.

Also, you may want to start a thread in the Preview section, if you will continue to write.

Surprisingly logical explanation, especialy when considering it's on Spiral Energy.
Kudos.
