SB banned me; I'm looking for a new forum...

But only on the internet, which is contradictory since there are no Canadian's on the internet.

There are people in Canada? I thought only cows and moose lived in Canada.

Well there are humans in Canada, wouldn't call them people though. Anyone who takes the name of Bacon in vain do not deserve the title.

Holy shit what
Yes those blasphemers claim mere ham on equal footing as a such a divine treat. Truly they are as savages.
SLAUGHTER THEM ALL

That rule is (often) only paid attention to when its a case of someone trying to poach members from SB.
Or when it affects the mods directly.

Honestly there is only one moderator worth shit on Spacebattles.
Which one?
Skyzeta.

He's and I are friends. Believe me when I tell you he's EXTREMELY professional in his take and I've actually invited him to moderate my forum because he's EXTREMELY fair. The problem is you have one GOOD mod and a group of flaming assholes

Who was Squishy again?
An asshole lawyer that liked to hang out in NSFD and troll people by deliberately making flawed arguments, and laughing to himself as people flailed around, trying and failing to properly refute them.
Oh, and for the record, Squishy wasn't actually a lawyer.

When the method to become a mod is completely shrouded in secrecy, the most obvious conclusion is that its a matter of favoritism.

Based on the current SB mod group, it certainly can't have anything to do with being a polite and helpful poster.

One does not ask to be a mod? One is MADE a mod... there is a selection process, a peerage... or some such.

Is what it sounds like to me...

Oh sure, but that's my point.

There are no checks and balances.

As it stands, someone is made a moderator based on some unknowable factor, which clearly does not keep people who are very rude and enjoy abusing their power from the position.

The mods of Spacebattles regularly call the entire creative writing section latent pedophiles and actively go out of their way to insult the entire community every time some small group of people (out of their thousands of users) posts something objectionable.

They categorically refuse to just deal with whatever issue has occurred within the group, tarring the entire community with the same brush at every opportunity.

Its not only rude, its completely unprofessional.

They very clearly let their personal preferences dictate what is and what is not acceptable, as evidenced from the fact that their responses to such content contain incredible levels of vitriol.

The way SB mods are chosen is the current mods and admins bring up potential moderators and then vote on it.

The big issue is the bulk of the current mod staff are all old vs. debaters, which for the most part translates to "opinionated assholes who spend countless hours attacking each other to grow their e-peens by claiming their chosen fandumb has the most gigatons", and most became members during the span of around 2005-2007 when the 40kers became prominent on the thread. Before the 40k influx the forums could get nasty, but nothing introduced childish spite and unadulterated ego to the forum faster than the GW fanbois.

Basically the inmates now run the asylum as their own personal fief.

Well, there we have it. Thanks for enlightening us. I had a feeling it was probably something like that.

Huh. So if I'd wasted more time in the Vs forum (which really only vaguely interested me), I could possibly have been a mod by now. Not sure how I feel about that.

You would have been kicked out when you're moderate views clashed with their many prejudices.

It's true, too. I used to be a moderate with left-wing tendencies before I found Spacebattles, believe it or not. Two years of that particular heart of darkness later and, well, just look at my fucking avatar.

You'd almost think Spacebattles is intended as some sort of bizarre far right-winger factory.

I think it manufactures extremists of all stripes, really. IIRC, one of the female posters claimed that she used to be mostly straight, but SB made her give up men in revulsion and go totally lesbian.

There's also how it's turned into something of a left-wing echo chamber, a few dissenting voices aside.

I always avoided the political forums for just that reason...

And of which poster do you speak?

And cough! Join my forum! New and improved Chat box!

Yes, you've said the same thing in two different conversations now.

We get it.

I tried to login to spacebattles only to find out I had been banned, and I've no idea why. Anybody care to enlighten me if they know?

Whats your spacebattles username? The same?

Edit: Found it.

<a href='http://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/potter-effect-working-title.252595/page-2#post-10188917' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/pot...2#post-10188917</a>

This thread.

And

I hope this helps.

As much as I loathe supers4, that's a relatively stylish ban. (Not that I imagine it lessens the sting at all :( )
At least its only for a day right?

Just go read QQ/BSR/Beasts lair for a day?

What is QQ and BSR?

Thanks.

Who is that guy anyway?

I've had like one interaction with him before, but I sort of got where he was coming from.

QQ is Questionable Questing, Found

<a href='http://www.questionablequesting.com/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://www.questionablequesting.com/</a>

Here.

BSR is

<a href='http://giantstompyrobots.forumotion.com/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>http://giantstompyrobots.forumotion.com/</a>

(actually GSR, who knew)

And SuperS4 is a very rude moderator. That's all I know about him really.
