After a long hiatus, I take this up again.

The scene in the Kotomine Church is fairly long, but Kirei doesn't waste time in being creepy. Ground-breaking revelation of the year right there folks.

I deliberately chose the Bad End option for Shirou to give up his Command Spells. Damn, Ilya is psychopathic. But that's alright because she was so kawaii in that Tiger Dojo (but giving her such short tights is pushing it!)

I suppose if I just turned off voices and read the text, I could blaze through a lot faster than I have so far, buuuut...

I don't think Sakura is weak, and without any training she's not a magus.
Sakura has training. That's the entire point behind Shinji raping her. She is weak because the water element she inherited from the Matou isn't natural, and she lacks compatibility with pretty much all of their magic.

Rin is well aware of it, we learn that she specifically checked Sakura for Command Seals and didn't find them, which is why she thought Zouken did the summoning.
Yeah, thinking about it, it has to be Sakura, even though that contradicts what Rin says in HF about believing Sakura had a better life. Shinji is not a magus in any way, shape or forum, and Shirou she didn't know about.

And, like you said, she did expect Sakura to be a master, hence why she checked her. I would imagine that, had she found them, she'd have tried to steal them (I don't imagine Rin would want to kill Sakura unless she really couldn't see any alternative).

After Shirou goes and shows off his chauvinism a bit, Rin finally plays a big role, and does an infodump for us. I can see why so many people compare her to a fox . The one problem I have so far here is that Shirou somehow doesn't clue in on Rin's multiple mentions that a Master and Servant must kill "all other Masters", which means he or Rin has to die before the war is over. I realise he's sort of still in the heat of the moment, but I would expect him to figure that out right away.
Well, the fact that that is not at all true and Kotomine tells him as much in the church probably has a lot to do with it. Rin claims that they must fight, but Shirou never really believes that. Not least because he has no interest in winning anyway.

No, there's a scene in the church where Shirou DOES express his misunderstanding you have to kill all the other masters to win. Kirei doesn't correct him, Rin does.

Also

"Rejoice, boy. Your wish will finally come true."

After leaving the church, we get to meet with the psycho loli again and I choose the bad ending deliberately and become disappointed when it's nowhere near as long as the first bad ending was. The length of Ilya's bloomers in the Tiger Dojo is still criminal.

Choosing the option that allows me to end gets Shirou's guts and stomach smeared over the pavement. The authorities will really be wondering about that tomorrow

After a flashback scene over Kiritsugu's death, Shirou finally wakes up and gets a scolding from Rin.

I have 3 options now. Which ones lead me to bad end?

If you're playing the Mirrormoon patch, there should be a document that shows a flowchart of all the scenes and endings.

Yeah, I found it.

Made it through the day after more and more and more talking. Saber is Saber. Shirou cooks dinner. Rin is a master troll. Shirou sees a sword in his head again.

After the day is over, just a tiny bit of progress on the next day, where Rin meets Sakura.

There is just SO MUCH TALKING as Rin trolls everybody again, including the Demon Tiger of Fuyuki, who breaks out into more genki girl antics.

So yes, wordswordswords or swordswordswords I guess

So we get to school and Shinji shows up. Man, you'd think that after trying to play hims off as 'popular with the girls' and 'a playa' you could try to make his douchebaggery more subtle.

Also Issei is awesome and should be used more often.

Now, that said...

Choisu Time!

'Goes up to the rooftop for lunch with Tohsaka'

Rin is such an awesome character, and she really shows off her tsun side here. Yes, such a vixen. And she also basically all but confirms Sakura as the 'other magus' she was referring to from awhile ago.

Then Shirou gets home and mentions having headaches if he sleeps for more than 12 hours. Is there some foreshadowing here that I don't know about as part of the general storyline already? I hope so!

I talk with Saber about one of the other Servants, and reload twice to collect them all (the conversations, that is). Also, Saber confirms it's Gae Bolg, not Lancer, who has the pierce the heart ability (the ideas topic I think, somebody wasn't sure about that).

Some brief conversations with Tohsaka and Sakura, and a short Shirou soliloquy. And what's that, Shirou? You have four girls of bangable age in your house? Are you sure your Origin isn't 'Harem'?

Then Shirou decides to be chivalrous-dumb and drags Saber along for dinner. Then of course Fuji-nee challenges Saber to a practice match only to get roflstomped.

"UWAAAAN! SOME STRANGER TOOK SHIROU AWAY!"

This, of course, would be the perfect branch-off point for the hidden Taiga Route, eventually ending in the Heroic Spirit of the Taiga with the Noble Phantasm Tora-shinai and the Taiga Dojo Reality Marble :sisi:

Btw, this part of the storyline is titled 'The Cr(l)ash of the Lion and the Tiger'. Since Saber's like 40-something, wouldn't that make her a cougar as well?

In any case, after the duel, some more brief conversations between Shirou and Tohsaka and then Saber, and finally the fifth day ends.

She drew Caliburn when she was 15-16. Add on the 10 years she ruled Britain + the interim years she took to unite the kingdom, I'd say she's around Archer's age (late 20s to early 30s).

Not that bad really....it's better than the Archer x Rin pairing, which is basically a middle aged man putting his paws on a teenage girl.

Also, she stopped aging when she pulled the sword from the stone. So there's that.

Didn't at least some versions of the myth have King Arthur pushing 90 before getting killed? Because I seem to remember that being mentioned once or twice ... vaguely.

Guys, using the 'she stopped aging' logic is cheating. That's the same kind of logic that allows us to (guiltily) enjoy lolis because they're really 300 years old.

A 10 year age gap with their boyfriend isn't that bad for a woman....It's even encouraged if some statistics are to be believed.

Also much less frowned upon compared to if it were the other way around (a.k.a. Archer x Rin)

Even Saber's magical induced physical age isn't that big an issue either....since she's just 2-3 years younger than Shirou.

Ah, but didn't Saber technically never die in the first place due to paradox hijinx or whatever? So that would make her over a thousand years old, hence a cradle robber.

Anyways, start of the 6th day. Rin teases Sakura about how she (Rin) can't eat lots of food and have it all go to her chest. Sakura's outbreak is so WAFFish

Then Rin goes to turn on the TV and I wonder if there are any FSN - Persona crossovers and see there are 10 on FFN. Any of them good?

Then Rin and Shirou get to school and Rin talks about finding the other Master here. Who could it be? Issei? Sakura? Fuji-nee-senpai? Kuzuki-sensei? Ayako? Her younger brother Minori? Those three girls who showed up in Rin's Prologue and never showed up again? (Kaede, Kane, Yukiko) Gai Gotou?

Oh it's Shinji. Like that wasn't obvious.

Shinji actually has a silver tongue for once here, playing himself off as somebody who wants to stay off on the sidelines during the war and not take the offensive, and invites Shirou to his <s>underground lair</s> home. Here he introduces Rider, and parlays his background into trying to get Shirou to ally with him, and does a pretty good job of it actually. He mentions that he doesn't have any actual magic, and Shirou doesn't press him on it. There's also some foreshadowing here in that Rin didn't sense Shinji as a Magus because he doesn't have circuits - purportedly she never sensed Shirou because of course his circuits are dormant.

Shinji overplays his hand by trying to push Shirou into fighting against Tohsaka, but he actually comes out pretty well ahead in this conversation, and deflects blame for the Boundary Field onto another Master, then says there's another Servant on Ryuudou Mountain.

Then who do we meet as Shirou goes home but for Issei? Who still has a problem with women as he mentions the mysterious new women at the Temple :headbanger:

At dinner, Rin trolling Fuji-nee again  Following that, Rin and Saber get a debriefing by Shirou.

Then we get to the decision. Challenge the Ryudou temple or not? Fighting will lead to a bad end, so of course we'll take it. Shirou and Saber go there and Shirou gets kidnapped by Caster, who drops a hint foreshadowing Saber's true identity (she wanted to 'net a dragon') before killing him. It's also interesting that the game makes it look like she's a Master and not a Servant, given the way she speaks about Saber and Shirou and taking his Command Spells. Of course, we all know that's not the truth, but for somebody playing with no foreknowledge, it's a troll.

Finally, Tiger Dojo segment 3. After Taiga calling out Ilya on those criminally-short bloomers (I'm not the only one! See?!), a poorly-drawn cutout of Rin shows up and knocks out Taiga after trolling her more. Rin Tohsaka? More like Rin Trollsaka.

Also, Ilya was supposed to have different costumes in the Tiger Dojo? If you're going to do a rerelease on the Vita, at least offer something new like this like how the PS2 had voices. Would want

Reloading, I take the 'Don't Fight' option. After some arguing between Shirou and Saber, Shirou brings out the 'You lost badly against Berserker and I would prefer not to die a miserable death again' and that's enough to end it right there. Saber looks really kawaii when abashed.

After, an interlude with Saber. Saber disobeys Shirou's intentions and goes off to Ryudou Mountain to fight herself, only to run into False Assassin Sasaki Kojirou (and though she doesn't namedrop him, Gilgamesh is mentioned for the first time here as the 'Archer from the previous war').

After some parlay, they begin to fight only for the PoV to switch back to Shirou who realises where Saber has gone, then drops this line.

"Geez, you're a girl, so be more obedient!"

Wow, how misogynist of you Shirou :snigger:

We go back to Assassin and Saber and get an awesome fight scene with lots of swordplay followed up by Tsubame Gaeshi. Saber is about to use her own secret technique only for Assassin to cut it off after Shirou shows up, pointing out there's someone else hiding and he doesn't want that person to see her technique. True chivalry!

Shirou takes Saber home after she faints. I guess he leaves his bike there? He complains about how it's hard to carry a girl in his arms

Then Trollsaka shows up. After some talking about the battle, she uses, of all things, the analogy of an electric breaker. And to think Rin doesn't understand technology!

During the course of the conversation with Saber Shirou shows off his 'I don't want girls to be hurt' attitude explicitly. Ah, the start of Shirou x Saber. Rin explains his 'superhero' attitude and reckless-self-sacrificing attitude to Saber, and the two agree to start to train Shirou in swords and magic, overcoming his protests. End of the 6th day.

That's because Rin has a hell of a lot of layers, and most fanfics tend to focus on her true self, which is much nicer than the persona she puts across at this stage.

She does like teasing people, though. As does Shirou and even Sakura, for that matter. It's just that, with them, it's rarely obvious.
