SMT: Persona shorts!

Ooh, I rhymed!

Anyway, I propose a game: everyone who likes the Persona games writes one or more short stories based on one of them.

Crossovers are heavily appreciated--Minato showing up to $^%#-smack some Shadows in Inaba, or Tatsuya Suou showing the new kids how it's done in Tartarus, or Nyarlathotep blasting Nyx out of existence and challenging the party for kicks and giggles.

You get the picture. Write something fun.

Or serious.

Or awesome.

Here're some I wrote on Gamefaqs a while back.

(somewhere in Tartarus)
Fuuka: I sense Death!
Junpei: Ha! Too bad the stairs are right here.
Reaper: Y Halo Thar S.E.E.S.!!!
Junpei: ****.
Minato Arisato was listening to music. While it was true that the Dark Hour disabled all electronics, not being able to use his MP3 Player wasn't that big of a deal--he'd memorized his track list years ago anyway.

He couldn't quite remember the exact date (he was lucky enough to know it was early June), but this was his second or third outing to Tartarus with Yamagishi as support. His party had split up and were killing Shadows on his orders--they needed the experience, and he needed some time to himself. The singing only got on Akihiko-senpai and Mitsuru-senpai's nerves, and even Junpei was tired of hearing twenty to thirty year old music.

He had just finished the ever appropriate "Paint it Black" when Fuuka's voice came over the transciever.

"Watch out! I sense Death!"

At the same instant, Minato felt it. Power, and hatred, hopelessness and terror. The same feelings from months ago when the Persona Thanatos had exploded from the sea of his soul through Orpheus. The same emotions he remembered from years ago on the Moonlit Bridge.

Death...

Ahead of him were his friends. They had found the stairs some time ago. There was still time to make an escape.

He ran.

"Junpei! Mistsuru! Akihiko! To the stairs, quick! Follow me!" he yelled. To their credit, his distant friends were at his side momentarily.

He could hear chains rattling now, and laughter, from deep inside himself. He turned a corner, and saw the stairs. He ran into the chamber and stopped, his allies passing him. He turned, his friends behind him vanishing up the stairs. In front of him was a grinning spectre, covered in chains and holding two massive guns, one in each hand.

The creature did not advance. The two stood there, neither looking away. Finally, Arisato unslung the bow from his shoulder, fitted an arrow to the string and fired.

The suction cup hit the Reaper's skull with a satisfying pop.

Screaming in outrage, the Shadow lunged forward while simultaneously raising it's massive shotgun. Arisato turned and ran up the stairs and was lost momentarily in the dimension between the tower's labrinthine floors. The stairs on the floor behind him exploded into dust.

Exhausted, Minato pitched forward into what was obviously a female chest. Even as he was violently pushed away, he could still see the relieved expression on Mitsuru's face, and from his new position on the ground he could see similar expressions on Junpei and Akihiko's.

"Hey dude, I can see the access point from here," said Junpei, holding out his hand. "Let's get out of here, alright?"

Minato shook his head. "Nah, let's go on. I want to get to the next guardian by the end of the night."

Ignoring Junpei's yelp of surprise, and Mitsuru and Akihiko's pointed looks, Minato walked forward, huming. He grinned. "Don't Fear the Reaper" was next.

How appropriate.
A mini-novelization of my first time meeting Death. I had fun writing this one.

So what are you waiting for? Go on and write!

I'm trying to come up with something witty and adequately violent to convey how screwed the P3 cast's school is if Tatsuya Sudou (aka King Lion, aka The Joker) were to visit it in one of his most insane moments... :snigger:

:evil2:

I thought you might like the concept.

Actually, I have another snippet in mind, giving an alternate spin to the events immediately after P3...

It'll be done Monday/Tuesday.

Am I the only one who read the first alias as "The Lion King"?

I've got one idea stuck in my head, and I blame the opening of Persona 4 for this one. I'm thinking Kamen Rider/Persona, if only because the image of the main character becoming Izanagi is too badass to let go. If only I could adequately present it to anyone.

How funny. I noticed it earlier and didn't comment, but I posted the images and this idea appeared around the same time, right?

Then again, those pics are awesome. That's definitely an idea to use for fics.

Basically, instead of summoning incorpeal beings capable of launching fireballs, the Persona acts as some sort of sentai powerup costume?

That picture is more like a Tuxedo Kamen/Persona mash-up, but it's fairly close to what I imagined. Though that idea actually has merit too. Sure as hell makes ol' Tuxy seem badass here.

As for the idea, I figured that the Persona users should be able to literally become their facade. Hell, their shadow selves did in a perverse way. Why not?

Oooooh... I LIKE this.

For those of you who don't recognize this thing, this is Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos from H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Also, he's the main antagonist of Persona 2.

But something is inspiring me... those masks and his line: "I am humanity's dark shadow!"

*cackle!*

Gr... Nyra is a FUCKING PAIN IN THE ASS in Arkham Horror, with his damn Mask monsters. Fortunately, if you build up a good thing of Clue Tokens, he's not too hard to beat.

I like the idea of the Protagonist falling off of the entrance of The Midnight Channel entrance and landing in Tartarus. How's that for screwed continuity?

What? Why would that happen? Yes, Shadows and Personae manipulate space and time, but there's no connection between Mayonaka TV and Tartarus--they're completely.

And Seta himself has no reason to go back in time. As far as I'm aware he's one of the billions of people who were never aware of the Dark Hour's existence, and -trinity soul- aside, there's no one other than the remaining SEES team who is canonically aware of the Dark Hour's existence, Minato's sacrifice etc.

Well, that depends on whether or not Persona 3 and 4 are in the same continuity as the earlier Persona games.

Why would it happen...?

Because it's fanfiction and that's how I want it to start out?

Or is that no longer a valid reason? You know, authors having ideas for AU stories?

Just tell us WHAT he's going to do in Tartarus that he can't do in the Midnight channel. We can imagine all we want to, but if that's the only reason, you get what 95% of the fics on FF.net are like.

Right, of course.

At this juncture, it's just a plot device that I have. I'm kinda burned out from exams and work at the particular moment, and I haven't played nearly enough of P4 to be able to write it.

It's more than likely going to be scrapped like 99% of the stories I write.

Deviantart, I thought. There's a whole stack in non-funny pictures though, so you might want to check there.

Just a theoretical question... :unsure!:

Tower Daedalus is much more appropriate.

Neku: Fool Pan (and end game, World Aether)
Shiki: Temperance Harmonia
Beat: Chariot Achilles
Rhyme: Sun Iris
Joshua: Judgment Cronus
Kitaniji: Death Charon
Hanekoma: Doesn't need one (he'll beat down everyone who has one though!), but if we must: World Themis

How's that?

Why are they all Greek?

EDIT: Also, Pan doesn't really seem to fit Neku at all.

My area of expertise. ;)

Pan for Neku because Pan was the real patron of music and the arts.
The problem with that is that the personalities don't seem to mesh well, unless Pan was Neku's ultimate Persona (in which case, I'd go with someone cooler). At the beginning, Neku was very much an isolationist, which doesn't fit well with Pan.

Ooh, point. Hmm... how about Heracles?
