Grim looked less than enthused as the horde of demonic spiders summoned by Velma's song carried off Jeff as Billy let out a horrified shreik and Irwin cowered at bit at the sight of the carnage before them.
"Ah, that's much better, don't you think, Grim?" Velma asked with a pleasant smile. It was clear for all to see that she didn't think anything wrong with bringing forth a demonic incursion to conquer the living world.
"You know you can't do 'dis, Velma. Coming after me was one t'ing, but a permanent invasion will have consequences," the Reaper responded in his usual Jamaican accent.
"Oh, don't be such a stick in the mud, Grimmy. this world could do a lot worse than me for an absolute ruler," Velma dismessed.
Images of Mandy, Fred Fredburger, and Nergal Sr all flashed through grim's mind as he conceded, "True enough. But I still can't let this happen. Not with Judge Spleen here watchin," before summoning his scythe to him.
"What are you babbling about, Bonehead?" Mandy demanded.
"'Dere is more the the job of Reaper 'den just collecting the souls of the dead. In fact, most souls move on just fine wit'out me. The main part of my job is to act as a gatekeeper," Grim responded sadly as he looked from Mandy, his first friend in centuries, to Velma, his first real friend ever.
"What do you mean, Grim?" Verlma asked, suddenly very apprehensive about the resigned look in the skeleton man's eye sockets.
"I wish I could tell you, Velma. But... company policy and all that. Like I said, there are dark place in me mind that people should not see. But either way, I have to stop this before it releases some'tin worse," Grim stated before his face grew cold with cocentration. He raised his Scythe with his right hand as an unnatural wind began to blow.
"What is this, yo?" Irwin asked as a cold chill began to run up and down his spine.
"Back to the pit with, you. All of you," Grim ordered as the blade of his Scythe began to glow varying shades of dreen similar to a dimensional votex. He struck the butt of the Scyth to the grous with a havy thud, causing what looked like gree lightning to branch out in every direction and engulf every supernatural spider in Endsville except for Velma herself and Jeff. the whole world seemed to glow green for a moment before it all ended with a flash and the spiders vanished.
"What? How in the heck did you do that?" Velma asked in shock. In all the years she had known Grim, both as a friend as a potential target, she had never seem him wield power so casually.
"Good question," Mandy agreed, her eyes uncharacteristically wide.
Grim rolled his eyes as he responded, "Come on now, Mandy. We've used de moon for bowling. A quck one way trip for spiders that aren't even supposed to be here ain't exactly hard."
"Okay, fine. But if you could have done that at any time, why didn't you before all this started?" Mandy demanded.
"Like I said, if it was just personal between mee and Velma I wouldn't care. But leaving unregistered portals to 'de Underworld open too long can have consequences. Cosequences you DON'T want to deal wit'," the Reaper explained.
"Like what?" Mandy asked with a raised eyebrow.
Grim's attempt to answer, whatever it may have been, was cut off as a sound akin to a shrieking tear resounded all over Endsville as a jagged black opening seemed to open in the sky far behind Grim. the Reaper turned to look at the tear as a giagantic black-claws hand poked out and a terrifying roar filled the air. "Like dat'," Grim said with a scowl.
"Whu-what is that, Grim?" Velma asked as she took an instinctive step back from the apparent tear in space time.
"A breech in de dimensional barriers that protect 'dis plane of existence," girm answered as he moved his Scythe into a defensive position when a second hand emerged as the black beast within seemed to begin to pull itself into Endsville to reveal a horrific bone-white mask on its face.
"I think she means the thing crawling out of there, idiot," Mandy supplied with her usual deadpan.
"Ah. 'Dat is a hollow. A lost soul that has been corrupted in a living world because it did not move on before it lost its ties to humanity and its human heart. Now it seeks to devour other souls to try to fill the gaping hole where its heart should be, unable to do so an contantly hungry. That particular one looks to be a Menos Grande class hollow. You kids better take Velma wit' you and take cover. 'Dis could get... messy," Grim ordered with a rare degree of competency.
Velma looked ill at the very concept of the creature Grim described, and the aura it was giving off certainly didn't make her feel any better about it, as she asked, "You're not seriously going to FIGHT that... thing are you? By yourself?"
"It's me job Velma. It's what de made me for," Grim responded resignedly. He turned a gave the half-spider/half-woman a sickly grin as he added, "aren't you glad not 'dat you didn't get time to eat me head and get stuck wit' 'dis? Now take 'de kids and get clear. I don't want anyone gettin' hurt while i send 'dis thing where it belongs.
Velma looked ready to argue at the insanity of the request as Mady grabbed her hand and Irwin's collor before dragging the pair off. "We'll talk about this later, Bonehead," she vowed with a deadly glare.
Grim looked grateful as he nodded at Mandy before trurning his attention to the amost fully emerged Menos Grande. "Alright, ugly. Let's see if I can send you packin' wit'out needin' me Shikai today," the Reaper called as he got ready to face off against the beast.
