New Animated series set between episodes 3 and 40....a 20 year stretch of time.

1. Disney to Cartoon Network and DC animated: "Not only are we taking Clone Wars away from you and making a new series.....we're also taking Greg Weismen, since you couldn't be bothered to continue Young Justice.

2. Fan hope, Ashoka Tenno helping to pull the various rebel groups together against Darth Vader....the man she thinks murdered her master and all her friends.....

Discuss.

I don't know, but this makes me think of a Fanfic premise.

I'm all for Greg Weisman getting more love (Hellz yeah), and Disney's surprisingly made a lot of good decision when it's come to their periphary demographic-drawing shows. If anything, I can't... find a lot of bad things to day about them, TV-wise, save for some of the shows that are already bad to begin with.

But anyone wonder if Luke would've had a crush on a grown Ahsoka? Those doujins with "Onee-sans" come to mind. Don't know why.

Star Wars Rebels Info

Highlights:

Hildago noted, “We can finally settle the debate between what is the difference between a Clone Trooper and a Stormtrooper,” saying that they were specifically culling from George Lucas’ ideas and that while he wasn’t directly involved in Rebels, they were using many things he’d said about this era. “Clone Troopers basically stopped production” after the Clone Wars ended, said Hildago. With Stormtroopers, “They’re citizens that volunteered.” Hildago noted that in Lucas’ mind, interestingly, “The lab grown Clone Troopers had too much individuality,” ultimately, and the Emperor decided, “You can find better loyalty from fervent patriots who volunteered.”

****
One fan asked what happened to the Clone Troopers. Hildago brought up what George Lucas had decided on the subject, saying, “It’s really interesting. Those Clone Troopers are still around and they’re aging twice as fast as everyone else. Some of them still believe in the system and have gone on to become trainers, while others have become discarded by a society that never really cared for them to begin with.” Hildago stressed that all of what he said wasn’t, "necessarily what the show is going to be about,” but it’s always in mind for the world the show exists in.
The Clones were too independent....that makes sense I mean they were essentially trained by the Jedi, and were really only intended to establish the Emperor's galactic regime. Now they can be cast aside in favor of much cheaper and more easily manipulated fearful fools.....I mean loyal patriots.

As for the possibility of a Jedi element on Rebels, Hildago noted that given the Inquisitors specific goals, “The fact that there is one in the series… the Empire has reason to believe there are Jedi involved somewhere. “ Hildago acknowledged, “There is a presence for the Jedi in the show but we are being very cognizant of the fact that Order 66 signifies something,” adding they also wanted to keep in mind the importance of Luke Skywalker as the only Jedi not too long after this show is set.
I *really* want that Jedi to be Ashoka, and the series ends with a fight between her and Darth Vader. Master versue former Apprentice, brother versu Sister. I imagine an entire Episode devoted to a long running fight between the two, with the upper hand changing sides multiple time as Ashoka uses her greater mobility and agility to excellent effect while Vader weilds his command of the Dark side with all the skill he used to his lightsaber, and backs it up with explosive physical power.

I just hope for a very terrifing and powerful Vader, the UE has tried very hard to pussify Vader/Anakin

UE?

if you mean EU or Expanded Universe then what the hell have you been reading? there are books and comics that had Vader be a complete beast, wrecking peoples shit.

though for this I want Vader to be almost Unseen, just you see the outlines of his Mask when giving instructions to his Inquisitor and most shots of him are from his POV with everyone reacting to him and of course you hear the iconic breathing first before he appears. and you only see him fully if shit is about to go down.

His name is 'Kallus'. <sarcasm>How imaginative.</sarcasm>

The voice actor is very good, though.

I like how intimidated Kallus sounds when he realizes there's an armed Jedi in front of him.

Seems like the cartoon is going with the 'Imperials can't hit the broad side of a barn' meme - but then, these are the main characters they're shooting at.

Pilot episode is available early if you have access to Watch Disney XD (which requires being in the US and having proof of a cable TV subscription)

Me personally? I quite liked it. It feels more like old-school Star Wars than anything has felt like since ROTJ, even with the modern Firefly-esque touches.

And man, the moment Kanan finally drew down was epic. After years of denying what he was and holding himself down to mundane level just to survive, well, the samurai cannot truly leave behind the sword, will he or no. Fate won't let him.

And now we see how Bail Organa got the idea for an ARMED resistance to the Empire. I guess this means 'Starkiller' has been officially wiped from canon.

So, who else is enjoying this series more than they expected to? Because going in I saw Ezra's weird nose-bridge and was non-plussed, but actually watching it has me quite enjoying it.

So, I'll admit, I'm not as Up on Jedi lore as I could be (never been the Order's biggest fan), I know that an apprentice's first Lightsaber is a big deal, but how big a deal? Is it like moving from apprentice to Journeyman? or maybe from junior to senior apprentice?

I guess what I'm asking is how big a deal is this?

It's always been treated as a big step in the development of a Jedi.....hmmm here a few examples:

I just took a look at IGN's review of the latest Rebels episode and have come to the conclusion that some Star Wars fans are being deliberately difficult. One guy said he stopped watching after the first two episodes since it wasn't as good as The Clone Wars, which began with a crappy animated movie and a very rough first season which Rebels has so far proven better than. Another guy complained about Ezra's lightsaber, hating it's cobbled together look and wondering why his lightsaber looked so bad....then someone noted that it WAS cobbled together from whatever he had available and on a limited budget. Unlike say the Younglings in TCW who got to build their first sabers out of the best material available. Another fanboy complained that Ezra putting a stun blaster in his weapon was dumb. Ignoring the fact that Ezra sucks at using a a Lightsaber, and will likely do better to shoot most people for now rather than use that dangerous sword.

I know there is some consternation about the loss of the EU, and I understand that Rebels isn't the mature gritty show some fans wanted but what I am starting to see is a refusal to let newbies into the club house. One guy flat out claimed that the majority of Star Wars fans were over 25, indicating that they are the ones who should be catered too....and ignoring all the children, teens and young adults who love Star Wars. Honestly it makes me sympathetic to Lucas.....and if you have me feeling that way you have gone to far!

I just watched the ep in question and as a ST fan, it was great. Maybe I'm not as hardcore but those fans should've known how the show was going to go when seeing the promos, art direction, and the eps that came before.

It's not dark and gritty but it doesn't need to be to be good.

And how could they not be excited that Ezra made his own lightsaber out of spare parts? That's some Magyver stuff right there.
