Evangelion The Box

My name is Shinji Ikari. And, well... I don't know how to explain it.

In just a few days my life has gone straight to hell. One day, I was just living with my uncle, cleaning house, cooking, playing my cello. The next...

The next I met an alien. An honest to God alien. A survivor of a ship up in orbit. He called himself an Andalite.

He spoke of a war being fought between his people and a race called the Yeerks, alien slugs that slip into your head and take you over. He said that twelve years ago, with Second Impact, the war had slid to a halt. Many Yeerks on this world had died with the flooding of the cities.

Fourteen years of peace had resulted, the loss to the Yeerks had been massive. But now... Now the war had started again. He gave me this... The blue box. He gave me information on how to use it. He gave me information about others like me. Other humans who knew about the Andalites, the Yeerks, the war...

The power I've been given...

And to top it all off, I've become a freaking giant robot pilot! My father, who I haven't seen in eleven years, just calls me back to pilot this monstrosity against giant alien monsters!

I don't know why this is happening to me. I don't know what I'm going to do.

All I know is that I have to try... Try and contact these other humans. Try and figure out what's going on.

I need to find the Animorphs...

- - - - - -

So, yeah. I was feeling nostalgic and threw this idea up for everyone to see and maybe give some thought to. Shinji's got the morph power, and the Escafil device which means he can give the power to more people.

Second Impact really screwed over the Yeerk's plans, but whether it's another play in the game by the Ellimist or the Crayak isn't known. The war ground to a halt but it seems to be back on again. The fate of the Animorphs is unknown. Shinji Ikari has been thrust into the middle of two wars-Both with secrets vital to the fate of mankind, and the future of the universe.

Let's play.

BTW, for story purposes, assume the Angels have DNA that can be acquired.

Ehh.... no. I'm going to have to veto this purely for reason of it being a crossover. I think the idea is clever enough, but I don't see it meshing well given that you're trying to do both series at the same time.

I'm not sure that this will work very well as a crossover. I mean, you're a bloody literary genius, but...Ah, whatever. I'd like to see this work, but something in the back of my head is screaming 'NO NO NO THIS IS ALL WRONG' so yeah.

Although I would like to see how the AT-Field reacts to Animorphic abilities, and vice versa.

Also I'm going to have to call bullshit on the Angels having DNA, or at least DNA that can be used by an Animorph. Unless any attempt to transform goes hilariously and/or horrifically wrong as the Flesh of Adam utterly rejects the very soul of the foolish Lilim, possibly resulting in a reborn Angel running around. In which case yes. Very yes.

IIRC the yeerks only invaded earth because humans were both large in numbers and reletivly easy to get ahold of, with second impact a good chunk of humanity is taken out, so one has to wonder if their going to try as hard to take over now. Also at what point in the Animorph timeline would it diverge and second impact take place, obviuosly before the big invasion though.

I know guys, it's really cracktastic, but that's why I posted it up here: So you all could consider and think about how to do it.

Okay, I'm picking 1998 as the start of the Animorphs (matching it up with the TV series). Two years of fighting follows, so... Say it diverges right around the time David finds the Escafil device (Book 20, The Discovery). The summit of the five world leaders was put underwater.

The last fourteen years, the Animorphs have lived mostly ordinary lives, all things considered. The Chee have been noticing some unusual activity and have been trying to investigate NERV and SEELE, but even they can't get in. That means Pemalite technology.

Therefore, the Animorphs decide to try and infiltrate NERV-As themselves.

Whatever anybody else says this looks like it could be good, although you're one of two or three authors I could see pulling it off successfully. Also, I offer my services for worldbuilding and idea bouncing if you want them. Just drop me a PM.

"Kajiii...!"

I looked in the mirror of the bathroom. It wasn't exactly hard to miss me, especially around here in Berlin. Tall, blonde, muscular, the very picture of the Aryan ideal.

Nazis. I hate Nazis.

Funny how I had to take care of a girl who was the product of such thinking in some ways. Making the perfect girl, a "master race".

The blonde hair changed colors, becoming dark brown and spikey in contrast to my flat, golden locks. My face became more angular, my eyes changed color, I lost a few inches in height and a few pounds of muscle but as a result I was slimmer, more lithe, more flexible.

I flashed a wry grin to the mirror. "Coming Asuka," I called, shaking my head. The girl was a brat, there was no two ways about it. But given what she'd been through... What I'd been through... I could relate. Both of us orphans thanks to forces beyond our control.

My name is David Hunting. But for now, you can just call me Kaji Ryoji.

You know, unless you've decided to change the rules on how Morphing works, David shouldn't have been able to do that. You can't morph into another member of your own species.

Yes, you can. Book 12, Cassie morphs into Rachel to cover for her. Two Hour rule still applies, though.

As for Angels having usable DNA, that seems like a very good way for things to Go Horribly Wrong. The Angel instincts would probably crush their puny Lilim minds. If you wanted them to play with AT Fields, though, they could always acquire Rei...

EDIT: Ninja'd by GladiusLucix.

B.B: No, in this timeline the world is flooded during the events of Book #21, when the Animorphs try to stop the Yeerks from infesting several world leaders at a summit in New York. David, not having much choice given he's homeless, stuck with the Animorphs. However, where Jake is their leader, Rachel their warrior, Marco their joker, Cassie their peacemaker, Ax their alien, and Tobias their loner, David is their wild card. He strikes out on his own a lot over the next few years, and when he gets the opportunity to infiltrate NERV through Kaji, he takes it. Kaji is still alive, mind you, but the ability to essentially be in two places at once is something he recognizes as a good thing.

Don't foreget the ability to mix DNA from members of the same species, Ax did that to create his human morph.

IIRC Ritsuko analysed an Angel in one of the earlier episodes and said it had a 99.something DNA similarity to humans.

For Shinji, morphing would mainly be an escape before Asuka and "Kaji" arrived. He doesn't have to be himself, he gets to be anything or anyone else. Though morphing dogs and dolphins and then going back to human afterward would be like being on happy pills for two hours, and then coming down, hard. The temptation to become a nothlit would be rather strong for Shinji-Becoming a bird, not having to pilot Eva anymore.

He would be strongly tempted, but ultimately, I think he'd stay human.

He'd probably get caught morphing by someone. Touji, Kensuke, or Hikari come to mind. Eventually, Shinji would offer them the morphing power too. Shinji would do it out of selfish reasons, in all honesty-He'd want to keep them as his friends, and if they know his secret, it's easier to keep them his friends if they're like him.

Though Rei getting the morphing power... That would be interesting. Especially if she morphed to fully human.

Tossing in my random stupid nerdish two cents on a possible idea for this:

Have Gendo be controlled by a Yeerk that has managed to survive all these years either from a supply of emergency Kandrona Particle Generators or the consumption of maple and ginger instant oatmeal (it would explain the insane plans). Beneth the mind control, Gendo is actually a kind and nobel man who loves his son and would never want to put him in harms way.

Why would a Yeerk want to initiate Third Impact?

Maybe it plans to use Third Impact like SEELE does to become a god being like the Ellimist or the Crayak.

True, but Gendo would still want to initiate it anyway, and control it. Hmmm... Two contesting wills in the same body, very interesting.

Heck, you don't even have to have Gendo likeable for that to work.
You could still have Gendo be a bastard, but a bastard that in the end loves his son and doesn't want him hurt either.

Or you could use Gendo in The raising Shinji Ikari project games/manga; he is a pretty loving dude.

Why not have Gendo and the Yeerk be equal partners-of-sorts? The main characters 'save' Gendo from the mind control, only for him to continue the plan on his own...

There is, of course, significant hilarity to be had. Especially with Shinji having to keep Touji and Kensuke from acquiring and morphing women just to see them naked.

I thought you couldn't morph into your own species...
